Chicken Burrito was Mushy , loaded with beans , and barely had any chicken in it. Chicken tacos were terrible! Little chicken and lacked flavor. The elote was just boiled cobs sprinkled with cheese. Oh man, I've been to taco rico before but just had the steak chimichurri tacos with birria style tortillas and it was A M A Z I N G!!!!!! My heart is so happy right now. The could the steak perfectly so that it was well done but not tough or dry. The birria tortilla was HEAVEN. I could ask for a pack to take home... and I kind-of want birria now. No Rico! How times have changed. I used to love eating Taco Rico Mexican food. It was fresh tasty and good quality/quantity. Unfortunately not anymore. My last order was terrible. Rice tastes like chemicals and portion was less than 1/4 cup. Went straight to the trash anyway. Beans are watered down with no beans. Quesadillas have little to no filling. I ordered spinach and mushrooms and there was no spinach and barely any mushrooms. Mushrooms looked like they came from a can. Everything comes in plastic containers. Im so sad and disappointed. First off this is not a chain but a local establishment, I think they have another location in Coral Gables too? They know their Mexican food. I have tried all sorts here and I and my family (kids, mum n dad from England) have never been disappointed. Also to be noted the portions are huge. Typically you also get free tortilla chips with a main order, which are always fresh and crisp. Then from there they offer a salsa bar - where you can get various sauces, salsa etc, as much as you like. LOVE THAT! The service is usually on point and pretty fast. My kids used to go to Palmetto high school years ago and I know a lot of school kids would hit this place after school for some Mexican food!I like how taco rico has a salsa bar too. This is the stingiest restaurant I've ever gone to. I used to come here for chicken quesadillas, key word used to. Every time they make it there is too little cheese in it. I asked about it once, and they told me they used a fixed amount. Also they give you a "bag" of chips with it which they are also stingy on! Jesus last time I opened it and there were literally 9 chips in there. I counted. 9. Well guess what if the owner reads this, your "fixed amount" is extremely stingy and frankly pathetic. In order for it to be done right I have to pay for extra cheese every time, and twice after I've paid for extra cheese, I have gotten the same amount. Once I complained to the manager and they made it right, the second time I ordered 30 minutes before close, and I suspect they purposely didn't put the extra cheese because they were pissed I ordered late, and when i came in the restaurant i overheard them talking about my order. Hours of operation exist for a reason if you don't want to work during those hours don't be open. Chipotle is right next door and their quesadillas are $7.49. Taco Rico's are 13$ and change with tax and extra cheese (which you have to pay for if you want there to be enough cheese and not a pathetic amount). This place has lost me as a customer due to the following issues above, and I suggest no one else go here if they're looking for a good chicken quesadilla as chipotle is much cheaper and better. This business doesn't understand customer service, or basic elements of business like retaining customers by having generous portion sizes that match the expensive prices for basic items, instead they try to subtlety Nickle and dime you with overpriced undersized portions. Now I understand why it's called "taco Rico" because the foods expensive and you're making them rich at your own expense. I hope the owner reads this and knows he's lost a customer who has been coming for years long before the current staff and has had enough of the petty gouging or having to complain or accept lousy portion sizes. This place is not worth the cost or the effort. Who is cheap on corn chips seriously? They cost nothing. It's so petty. read more

Taco rico is just a solid place. It's not trying to be like one of those hip taco stands that are trying too hard to look cool. It's great for take out or just to dine in for a casual meal. I've gone to taco rico a lot, and after trying many food items, I think my favorite is the burrito. What I usually do is split the ultra sized burrito with someone else. The burrito is huge!! I definitely recommend to not order the regular sized burrito and to get the larger size instead. The larger one costs a bit more, but it is double the size. The ingredients in the burrito taste really fresh and you don't feel that heavy after eating it. The fajita salad is also a good option if you're trying to be healthy. It comes with a good amount of protein and vegetables. I've heard it's tasty. It's just a good option to have if you're trying to avoid carbs. I like how taco rico has a salsa bar too. Many places make you pay for extra salsa, but I like how taco rico gives you the freedom to have as much salsa as you want. They typically include chips with the meal you order, so it's nice to just chomp on some chips and salsa while you're eating your meal. I'm a fan of Taco Rico. Worst quesadillas I've ever had. I ordered through Uber eats shrimp quesadillas. The description said meat and cheese nothing else. When I got it first off they were soggy as if they had been sitting a while. Then when I finally dug in I couldn't even pick it up because they were falling apart and to top of off they were filled with onions which I can't eat! Comparing this location to the one I typically frequent, this one seems more spacious, although I think the other may be bigger. It's all in the design. Anyhow, we ordered some taquitos, chicken fajitas, and a ground beef burrito without refried beans. We also had some chips and salsa with water to drink. Absolutely scrumptious. One of my co-workers recommended this place since it is within walking distance of work. I was in a hurry to grab a quick bite and something light before having to head back to work. When she recommended mexican food I thought this was the complete opposite of what I was looking for. Luckily, she had a menu on hand which I was able to look through before walking over. The taco salad caught my eye. I walked in and placed my order to-go. Within ten minutes (it might have even been less) my food was out. The taco shell was light and crispy. It came filled with lettuce, chicken and cheese. I asked for the pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole on the side. It was delicious! I came with a group of 4 and it was pretty packed. The location is small and a little tight but the food is good. We ordered loaded nachos with no meat, pork tacos, quesadilla, and the mexicana platter. The nachos came after our food and they came with no cheese so we had to return them once they came back they were delicious. The pork taco was savory. The quesadilla was also very yummy. After purchasing our meal and fountain sodas, my gf and I promptly returned the cups due to the amount of PINK MOLD built up in the ice chute. My concerns were addressed to the staff, an older lady in particular. She was receptive but unfortunately completely unaware as to how to fix the problem. Taco Rico offers traditional, Americanized Tex-Mex fare, with the usual tacos, burritos, quesadillas, etc, with, oddly enough, a grilled churrasco steak for $13.99. The taco and burrito filling choices are chicken, beef and pork. You're not going to find carne asada, carnitas or al pastor choices. The quality, though IS better than at Taco Bell, and what closes the deal for me is the great little salsa bar, with several kinds of hot and mild salsas to choose from. Even when I just order a pair of soft tacos, the counter help scoops up some fresh-tasting tortilla chips into a basket for munching on while my order is prepared. A trip to the soda fountain and to the nearby salsa bar, and I'm good to go while waiting for the order to come up (which is delivered to your table).
