We have been loyal to this restaurant until we ordered there for the last time! They usually have great food and the portions are acceptable but the last few times we have seen a degradation of quality and portion and always missing utensils and the sauces ordered. the last straw was being charged 20 dollars for the most pathetic tacos and steak bowl we have ever seen. Taco Bell would have been a way better choice. It tasted like crap and the portion was so small I was able to wrap the tortilla around the stuffing twice. My wife's bowl was awful and they didn't even bother to fill it to the top, not to mention no sauces were added or supplied as we paid extra for it. they at least gave us a huge amount of stale unsalted tortilla chips as if they were trying to get rid of it. No salsa! The ambiance is okay, but it is always empty and clean (I would hope so). The employees were not too friendly and couldn't speak a word of English. They will get impatient if you take too long, I speak Spanish but i got an attitude when I spoke it so I kept speaking English to the rude ass employee. I also witnessed on several occasions over the years, that one of the owners or employees went next door to the subway to get food and things, so I can see why the quality has fallen off. Unfortunately, I used to really like this place specifically the one close to FIU but today I went to this location and I was extremely disappointed. I ordered a burrito and after taking five bites, I almost choked and gagged on a huge piece of plastic. When I brought it up to the employees attention, they offered me to make another one and told me that it was from "the bag"... I rather not know what bag they were referring to After being visibly disgusted because my eyes were watery, and I was gagging as I was talking to her, she grabbed the piece of plastic from my hand after I had chewed it and basically regurgitated it. I don't know if that was the most savage move or the most disgusting thing I've seen in a while. No gloves or nothing... raw dogged my chewed up piece of plastic.... They didn't offer me a refund after I had to throw out a full burrito missing 5 bites. All they said was thank you for letting us know and then they were laughing saying "te pasasteis" to the employee.... Not sure because she touched a customer's chewed up food or because she was able to look me in the face with a smile and tell me that it's just part of "the bag". When I say that I have been LUSTING after these nachos for a *literal* FOURTEEN MONTHS: I'm not exaggerating. My husband and I happened upon this wondrous restaurant last year on our way out of town on a cruise and it was the HIGHLIGHT of our cruise (mind you we weren't even on the water at this point). And so this February we FINALLY got to return to beloved Xochimex Cantina Grill where it all began. The beautiful nachos. The restaurant vibe feels like a more authentic chipotle and the service is great (I wish I spoke Spanish!) Just know that it is a miracle the phone ate first. I've always liked Cantina Grill more for there fresh ingredients and I use to be a manager at one of their locations and yes it's all true everything is fresh! From the meat is cooked daily and the rice to the beans and veggies (: Delicious and low in sodium. I choose cantina over chipotle any day on my opinion. The food here is decent. I ordered a kids chicken quesadilla and a fish bowl. They used the same gloves to touch the chicken and the the fish with. I'm a pescatarian. My daughter didn't like the quesadilla, she said something tasted off with the chicken and cheese. Service at this particular location is not good. I've come here twice this month and each time I've been stared at without a greeting when I walked in to a point where I thought they may have been closed and they were giving me that "how dare you walk in at closing" stare. I have eaten here twice so far in order to give them a few chances to show me a true experience. I have to say both times I went I left satisfied. To put this place in perspective, it's a bit like Lime or Chipotle. The freshness & quality of the food is great. They press your tortilla right in front of you & slap it on the griddle/flat top. The menu isn't extremely large but that's par for the course when it comes to Mexican food. They do have a few desserts & a check-in offer so look into those. Both times I went I had the pork Quesadilla & it was very tasty. Go for the "Make it a meal" & add some of their awesome queso & a drink, it's worth it. Your food is served with their home made chips which unlike chipotle, are free. The only major downside to this place is it can take a long time if their is a line. With about five people in front of me it took nearly 30 minutes before it was my turn to place my order. Expect to pay about $10-$12 per person for a meal with drink included. This cantina is right next to my house, less than 10 minutes away & i happen to be a regular customer there. I make it right at 10:01pm, I go to open the door & it's completely locked, employees inside are completely ignoring me basically trying to prove a point that they're closed but yet based off their hours they close at 11pm... This place is always great! I have never come here and had a bad experience- either in the service or the food. This is a quick service location where you can dine in. They are open late and it's casual. They have multiple different text max options. Everything is made fresh to order, from your choice of meats to the dough they use to make the wrap for your burrito. Their food is full of flavor that will not disappoint your tastebuds. You have your choice of toppings and sauces which you can add to any dish. Everything comes with a side of chips, even the salads which is nice. This time I had a salad bowl, so essentially everything I would put in my burrito, just in a bowl while substituting spinach for the rice. My favorite item on their menu are the nachos. They are jam pack full of flavor and extremely filling. You can share them if you want and lack a big appetite. I've been there three times, but the decor is disgusting!! The employees call it "Rustic" but it actually looks like the floor has never been cleaned. If it's not actually filthy, it looks that way! Perception is a big deal!....and it doesn't look organized either. The tables are always still messy when I arrive, and the condiment bar had its contents spilled all over. Cantina is one of my lunch spots that is quick and delicious for a great price. Everyday they have different special that last all day. What I always order is the chicken salad which you get too choose lettuce, spinach, or a mix of different greens or, if you prefer you can have all three and add as much toppings as you want. What they do charge extra for is if you want to add guacamole or bacon. When you place your order it comes with chips and they have a small area with different sauces that you can take with your order. They have inside and outside dinning and the place is pretty small. The staff is friendly and are very quick. If your looking for a quick lunch and are in the mood for tacos this is the spot. Ohh by the way their cookies are bomb. :) read more

Usually i eat here and always enjoy my food because the service and food is always amazing. I'm a casual that gets the same thing every time so most of the employees know what i want and always treat me good... EXCEPT FOR ONE... i think her name is Erika. She is waaaay to rude to be working there compared to all the other nice employees. My wife loves their food and they know how to deliver low-fat versions of classic recipes well. This is not gourmet, and if you want that, you are barking up the wrong tree.
