If you're expecting San Diego-Mexico border Mexican food, lower your expectations. However, Taco Tita does the duty of providing Mexican food for the south side. I've always ordered the taco salad or the nachos. Best bang for your buck. Would I go back? Yes, if I were ever in Na'alehu but I wouldn't drive out just for this. Great service. Staff was very informative of their menu. Cash only.

Arrived in the afternoon. Not too busy. The menu has a lot of options to choose from. My husband and I shared the fish burrito. Very filling and savory! Tables are located outside. Look out for hungry geckos looking for snacks!

Burritos are massive and delicious! Don't miss out on the lilikoi Lemonade! Fast friendly service. Will definitely be returning !

Once again we stopped on our way thru and it never disappoints. Everything from the nachos, to tacos, to burrito, to roll up. All outstanding and delicious. Thank you again for the wonderful service and great food.

    Chicken burrito. Sooo tasty.

Cash only!! Best burrito I've had in a really long time. The couple who seem to run the place were super friendly and we ate at the little outdoor patio. It's at the side of the Hana Hou restaurant. Stop if traveling between Kona and Hilo; you won't regret it

We're here visiting from Texas for a few weeks and drove by this place a few times so we decided to give it a try. We were here on 5/19/2023 and I had a ground beef taco bowl and my husband had the pork nachos. Nothing special about the food, it was a little bland. They also needed to give the picnic tables a good scrub. There was a friendly black cat outside named Poké that lived at the restaurant. The young lady that helped us said it was a stray and that she had had the cat spayed. I was glad to hear that because the island seems to have a stray cat problem. Also upon our arrival was a family of four looking at the menu which is outside. We decided fairly quickly so we went in to order. We made small talk with the lady working. She mentioned that her boss was from California so my husband jokingly said that we knew how she felt because the Californians had invaded Texas as well and we didn't like it either! I don't think she liked that, she seemed personally offended. I also mentioned that the Spanish rice and pinto beans on the menu didn't seem like Cali Mexican food (we lived in California for more that 15 years) but more Tex Mex (were from southern Texas, born and breed, the home of Tex Mex). And for the record, both the rice and beans were prepared very Tex Mex! While we were making small talk, the family of four came in to order and the lady asked them if they were with us and they said no and she very RUDELY, and I mean RUDELY, told them that it was one party at a time and they needed to wait their turn outside. I couldn't believe how rude she was. In hindsight, we should have left she was so rude to them. They walked out, apparently discussed her rudeness and left! Taco Tita probably lost at least a $60 sale. Our purchase was $27 so I asked the lady if she could change a $50 and she said yes. She handed me my change with a $5 on top and I thought the $5 was strange when my change was $23 but I put a dollar in the tip can and folded the other bills and put them in the front pocket of my purse. Not long after we left I noticed that my change was only $13 instead of $23. So I called the restaurant Hana Hou which is their sister restaurant, they're on opposite sides of the same building and told the lady on the phone what happened and she was kind of rude about it and said what do you want me to do? The only thing we can do is check the camera and I said well you can do that and you can also count the till and if it's $10 over then she shortchanged me. We ended the conversation with her taking my name and number for the manager Darren. I have not called back as we're busy enjoying our time but not I have heard from Darren. I can understand how a mistake could be made, it happens. We won't even be back in the area so getting our change is out of the question but the restaurant could at least acknowledge the error. They only take cash and that can open other wise honest people to not be so honest. If this wasn't an honest error, the owners should check their cameras more often. I have a feeling I'm not the first victim, just the first to call them on it. I can only hope my $10 will be used to buy Poké some food!

Perfection! I'm not just saying that because I was a hungry tourist. This place has a GIANT menu that looks incredible. It's real hard to decide. Tacos are my go to, but wait, do they serve breakfast all day? Maybe a burrito for my snack hole? Mmmm let's share nachos with husby! Pulled pork nachos and the most amazing freshly brewed iced tea were the way to go for a late lunch. The nachos have everything you could want, but be sure to add a sauce. We did the spicy green abs it went well with the guac and other toppings. They are cash only, that shouldn't deter you.

We had taco salad, the shell was stale, the tomatoes were from a can, the pork was perfect, the shredded beef was worth the additional fee. Overall it was delicious. Wish the used avocado instead of the gross guacamole spread and would loved to have a little sour cream too. But I'm a spoiled girl from Orange County so what do you expect? I hate pre-shredded cheese from a package. But for Mexican food in Naalehu it was nice. The rices d beans were flavorful. I will order tacos next time!

They have ample parking out front, and as this is situated in a slightly more rural part of the island, I wouldn't expect them to be extra extraordinarily busy. They are also right across the street from a renowned bakery for Malasadas (donuts with no hole). Service was quick and kind throughout our stay. Huli Huli Chicken (7/10) - they give a massive entire half chicken! As expected, the thigh and wings were super tender. I will know, that this chicken breast was probably one of the most tender chicken breast that I've ever had. SOOO JUICY!!! the meat itself was super succulent and each bite was very tasty. - my only complaint is regarding the flavor. Huli Huli chicken is usually barbecued outside, with a pretty crisp and dark exterior. However, this chicken's exterior was quite pale, and I'm unsure if they grilled it. It's possible that it is a baked chicken. Overall, the spot is unique because it claims it's the southern most restaurant of the USA. The Huli Huli chicken is super tender, like the exterior signature barbecue flavor that other local spots have.

As soon as we entered the bake shop, we were astonished to find a long line. However, the line moved pretty quickly. I got the veggie avocado cheese sandwich. My husband got the fried fish plate. We also got a few Malassadas. This was like a fried doughnut. We got the mango, guava and pineapple flavors. My favorite was the pineapple one. The bread itself was super soft, and the pineapple jelly was super tasty. The mango pastry was also good, however, it was a bit dry for my liking. My veggie sandwich was packed with a variety of vegetables. The bread itself was very soft. I did have to add a bit of hot sauce, salt, and pepper because the sandwich itself did not have any flavor. My husband's dish also lacked flavor so he had to add a lot of hot sauce, salt and pepper. All in all, we had a great experience. The buns are a must try. They have plenty of outdoor spacing for seating. They also have a ton of interesting items to purchase. Given the historical relevance, this spot is a must visit.

The food was tasteless and I don't appreciate when places try to get a double tip. Food options around the area are very limited, but I encourage tourists to take a chance and explore further. This place is a great convenience for people visiting Hawaii's Volcano National Parks and are starving after a long day of sightseeing. Unfortunately, I was very let down considering the great reviews it has online. This is a food truck, so as expected, the parking is extremely limited and there are only two picnic tables available if you choose to sit down and eat. The area is nice if you don't mind eating outdoors. When I went, there were only 2 people working in the truck. They were extremely nice and did warn us about waiting times. There was a long line of people so we had to wait about 25mins for our food. Honestly, this is not inherently a problem, but be ready to wait if it's busy. Now for the food and the reason I'm giving this place a low rating. I was allowed to mix the carnitas tacos and the chicken taco plate given that they're all the same price. The chicken had a nice spice to it, but every item on the dish was very bland. The rice felt dry, the refried beans felt like they were straight out of a can, and it could have all used some salt. But the big nono was that it appears they included a tip in their total before handing the machine over to you to add a tip and pay. Unless you tell me Hawaii's tax is close to 20% (which I know it's not), I find it very disrespectful when businesses do this to their customers.
