They have ample parking out front, and as this is situated in a slightly more rural part of the island, I wouldn't expect them to be extra extraordinarily busy. They are also right across the street from a renowned bakery for Malasadas (donuts with no hole). Service was quick and kind throughout our stay. Huli Huli Chicken (7/10) - they give a massive entire half chicken! As expected, the thigh and wings were super tender. I will know, that this chicken breast was probably one of the most tender chicken breast that I've ever had. SOOO JUICY!!! the meat itself was super succulent and each bite was very tasty. - my only complaint is regarding the flavor. Huli Huli chicken is usually barbecued outside, with a pretty crisp and dark exterior. However, this chicken's exterior was quite pale, and I'm unsure if they grilled it. It's possible that it is a baked chicken. Overall, the spot is unique because it claims it's the southern most restaurant of the USA. The Huli Huli chicken is super tender, like the exterior signature barbecue flavor that other local spots have.

There are two outdoor patios where you can eat your lunch and/or malasadas. Known for Hawaiian sweetbread that you can find in many supermarkets. We ordered sandwiches made with Hawaiian sweetbread, and ate them in the outdoor garden area. There's a gravel parking lot onsite.

As soon as we entered the bake shop, we were astonished to find a long line. However, the line moved pretty quickly. I got the veggie avocado cheese sandwich. My husband got the fried fish plate. We also got a few Malassadas. This was like a fried doughnut. We got the mango, guava and pineapple flavors. My favorite was the pineapple one. The bread itself was super soft, and the pineapple jelly was super tasty. The mango pastry was also good, however, it was a bit dry for my liking. My veggie sandwich was packed with a variety of vegetables. The bread itself was very soft. I did have to add a bit of hot sauce, salt, and pepper because the sandwich itself did not have any flavor. My husband's dish also lacked flavor so he had to add a lot of hot sauce, salt and pepper. All in all, we had a great experience. The buns are a must try. They have plenty of outdoor spacing for seating. They also have a ton of interesting items to purchase. Given the historical relevance, this spot is a must visit.

First off, their macadamia ice cream is really really good! Creamy, thick, sooo tasty! We also ordered: Epic Feisty Tacos - 5/5 - comes with three tacos and spicy sauce. The tacos are super tasty and perfectly balanced spicy, savory, tangy flavors. The lemon herb chik'n is also so good, you can't even tell it's vegan. The tortillas are a bit on the crumbly side, but still equally tasty as a taco bowl. Definitely would recommend this dish if you love spicy tacos! Epic journey nachos - 4/5 - the toppings on the nachos taste similar to the feisty tacos. The chips are more like baked tortillas with a crispy exterior and softer center. Journey Classic Crepe and Blueberry macnut crepe - 3/5 - The crepe itself was a bit thick, I'd describe it as more of a pancake than a crepe as crepes should be super thin. Still pretty good though all together, fruity and sweet. Latte with oat milk - 4/5 - a bit on the bitter side but not a bad latte! Asian salad - 4/5 - good salad, vegan meat is well seasoned and everything pairs well together. It wasn't very Asian tasting though, more like a Mexican-Asian fusion salad.

I particularly enjoyed their strawberry shake, which was so refreshing. I noticed that they also have a coffee one, which means I'll need to stop in again next time I'm in Kona. in spite of walking in during a busier time of day, service was quick both while putting in the order and waiting for our food to come out of the kitchen. The decor is a visually fun and engaging mix of greenery and art designed to keep diners feeling cooler in Kona's heat. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. Even if you're not committed to vegetarian or vegan food, there's a lot to like, especially if you're looking for something light, clean, and sweet.

As a treat, we had their coconut & mango homemade ice creams that weren't on the menu, but worth every bite! This is in a remote tiny area just off Hwy 11 at the south end of the Big Island. Around 5 mins after we ordered, we got our drinks and fried spring rolls (both just average). Then, us and the table of 4 proceeded to wait until 30 mins for our food... The entire time, not a single dish was produced. It was weird. Why did it take so long? They didn't have any to-go orders they were cooking for in the meantime. There was just nothing happening... for 30 minutes. While we were waiting, more and more parties came in and some phone orders as well. At that point, they were letting people know it would take an hour and a half. (??????) I know island time is more laid-back but this was very mysterious. Maybe the chef went on break? Maybe they had a family emergency? Maybe they had an equipment issue in the kitchen? Unsure, but it was odd! My expectations hit rock bottom at that point but then when I ate my pineapple fried rice, it was actually really good. Bizarre experience but oh well!
