Local hard working people making excellent breakfast tacos. I ordered a chorizo egg taco and a bean, cheese, and bacon taco. Both were top of the line delicious and as authentic as it gets. The green sauce on the tables is a good homemade spicy Mexican sauce, highly recommended and super spicy. Yum. The red sauce on the tables is ok, more of a fresh tomato type concoction, not spicy at all, I suppose it serves a purpose for those who don't want to contact a dermatologist for a skin transplant after breakfast. Called in an order for 2dozen hot, not cold, tamales ($13/dozen) and 4 sides ($2.50/ea) waited behind the person in front of me. That didn't take too long. I got the the window where I was met with a confident "$50.00" ... I had to have her recalculate the total which was $14 too much. I just wonder how often this happens to people "on the go"... I got home to enjoy but I can't. Crumbling-dry masa, dry chewy meat.. obviously microwaved (and incorrectly at that) maybe if I got cold ones, and cooked them myself I wouldn't be so disappointed. The breakfast tacos are simple and tasty, some say they are small so order extra if you are hungry. The breakfast tacos take me back to simple childhood memories. This place use to be amazing, not sure what has changed since my last trip here (about 1.5 yrs ago)...but i grew up in area and this place use to be an every Sat or Sun breakfast. I didn't event feel welcomed, no hello/good morning/thank you, this time. Beans tasted like they came out of can, chorizo and egg didn't taste right, my son's nachos were soggy by the time we got them, and the crispy beef tacos were small. I biked 100 miles through the hill country the day before Easter. I was exhausted and dehydrated by the end. After dinner I fell asleep, dead to the world. The next morning I awoke profoundly hungry. I drove into Kerrville in search of breakfast. We were staying in a furnished cabin a few miles outside of town. I assumed most places in Kerrville would be closed, so my first thought was to buy something to cook. When I got to the grocery store, nothing looked appealing. I got back into the car and wandered around Kerrville. Eventually I found Taco To Go. Miraculously, they were open on Easter morning. I ordered about a million tacos, brought them back to the cabin, and devoured them. The ingredients tasted fresh. The salsa was good too. I was very surprised to see no one has reviewed this place in a long time. I picked up tacos for us this morning. I got there about 630 and waited forever for my tacos but it was well worth it. Homemade tortillas!!!! I ordered 2 bacon and egg very good and fresh. 2 carnitas amazing fresh and tender. 1 chorizo and egg. The best ever! Drove off and opened the bag, only 6 tacos in the bag. Bacon is chopped, so you can't even taste it. Everyone knows bacon is better in strips. What a horrible place. I paid 17 dollars for carne asada nachos and a barbacoa taco which they only put 20 watered down nachos with 6 pieces of meat. On top of that they did not even give me the taco. Places like this are shitty restaurants so save yourself the time and money and go to a better place. read more

The chorizo and egg breakfast tacos are the best I've ever had. You can watch them making fresh tortillas as you sit in the drive-in. It's usually faster to walk inside though, especially when the drive-in line backs up onto the street. They are a little chintzy with the hot sauce and paper goods (like napkins or silverware) though. read more

We ordered the family fajita dinner with combo meat. Fajita was tenderized and tasty, chicken a little on the salty side, but good, too. Flour tortillas were homemade and delicious. While the rice and beans were excellent there was barely enough for one person, let alone a "family". two little 3 oz containers of guacamole. For 21.95. Every time we are in the Kerrville area, we make a point of having breakfast at Tacos To Go. They never disappoint! The unassuming building is so comfortable it's like sitting in and indoor patio of a friend's home and having them make you a delicious authentic South Texas meal. My husband and kids love the huevos rancheros (and the breakfast potatoes on the side!). We all love the breakfast tacos -- especially Barbacoa, Carne Guisada, & bean, egg & cheese. "We serve high quality food" is out on their sign. I got such a laugh out of the sign, I tried the place. It is a dive for eating inside, but the food is worth it. Air conditioning is marginal, so if you want a cool dining experience, go through the drive-thru! I'd give it 5 if the inside dining was a little cooler in the summer. Dishes are meaty. They don't skimp. Excellent red and green sauces. My favorite is the beef fajita breakfast taco. Steak and eggs in a tortilla -- can't be beat.
