Tacochela is one of those places you go to the counter and tell them items you want as they put your order together. Lots of things to choose from. You can get meats or vegan options for proteins and there's quite a few sides. Coming in for lunch there was a line. It's usually not a long wait and it wasn't this time. They have tacos obviously as well as burritos and tortas so you can get whatever. Has a pretty easy to understand menu. It's about $4 per taco. Get a combo and save a couple bucks. The combos add a drink and a side. For vegetarians the sides includes things like beans and rice, separate or together as one. We got a few of the tacos with the plant protein, and with the fried sweet potatoes. Filling. There was quite enough for us and glad we chose only a few tacos. Great stuff that is full of flavor. We've never been to this establishment before, so we were surprised that we could watch them make our food and customize it similar to subway. Finally stopped by a few weeks ago for dinner and it was delicious. We started with the chips and salsa - they have some spicy salsa - that's for sure. Our preference was the green medium one. The chips were good - but quite a large portion - with our other food. I got the Flaming Hot Burrito w/ cheetos and chorizo. It was huge! I took half home and it was just as good the next day - if not better. I loved the spiciness of it and I thought the chorizo was great - not too greasy. I asked afterwards and they said they would do it in a bowl, too. I will do that next time. My husband got the chicken torta and he also loved it. Tacochela's lamb tacos are BAE!!! Unctuous, fall of the bone lamb simmered in a sauce that allows the meat to be the star, paired with simple cilantro y cebolla (cilantro + onion) with a hint of lime, and you e got the perfect bite. The beans and the rice are humbly comforting, and a great accompaniment to the tacos. I've also had their Elotes and they're actually quite fantastic, so you have that option too. The tacos came without cheese so they were vegan - I'm assuming cheese can be requested as everything is customizable - you pick which vegetables, which salsas, etc. you want. They were quite salty but tasty. I'd been here before and liked the horchata - I'm not sure what they've done to it, but the thick, creamy texture has been overdone. It's pleasant at first but has a tendency to read as slimy: if you poured it poured like egg white, in slugs, which is just icky. I'm hoping this was a one-off. There's plenty of seating; the wooden chairs aren't comfortable but you're not here to hang out. Prices reasonable for fast casual. Decided to try out Tacochela recently and it was pretty good overall. It's fast causal service and like chipotle create your own bowl, taco, or burrito. I had the grilled tilapia burrito bowl. The fish was made to order which is great! The beef, pork, and chicken were already made and in the holding warmers. They did not look that great. I also tried the Mexican fries and they were delicious! That was the first time I've had tajin on fries and it was a hit!! The agua fresca limeade was good and horchata was even better. I love how colorful and fun it looks in here. I got a burrito with the veggie filling, which is sweet potato and mushroom, two of my faves! I did feel bad because the lady misunderstood me saying "vegan filling" and thought I said chicken. Luckily my dad wanted chicken so he had mine! I had guac on mine, rice and black beans, red medium salsa, cabbage, and lettuce. My dad had a chicken and rice bowl with black beans, hot salsa, and cilantro. I thought the food here was great. The menu is a bit overwhelming with options but I had spotted some birria tacos on google reviews and wanted to give that a try. Overall I'd say I was not let down. Ended up doing 4 birria tacos and it comes served with a side of dipping meat stew / soup that you can dunk for each bite. While the exterior probably could've been crispier, it was still a delicious bite. My wife had grabbed a burrito and a taco as well. What's nice is that it's setup Chipotle line style where you can pick out your meats and fillings/toppings. Overall the quality of ingredients is much better and you won't be disappointed the selection of different fresh salsas and beverages (horchatas, mexican cokes, etc.). I think the only thing I can note is that the staff running is a bit lean. While we were the only ones there initially, the place got hit with a dinner rush of guests which created a decent line. I know... Barria tacos should be with goat but everything looked good behind the glass. So we got a mix. It was all so tasty but the shrimp were the best. Don't forget to dip your tacos (and whatever else you order) in the consume. That braising liquid was so well developed. Once the tacos were gone the chips went for a dip. The elotes had everything on it. I really enjoyed it but if you're not a lime person that flavor will be overpowering to the creamy parts. As for the guacamole, it could have used more acid. But you know I'm a limey person so take that with a grain of salt. The chips were amazing. Just how I like them, super crispy and substantial. I want a chip to hold up long enough for me to dip it in the guac and consume and get it in my mouth. Mission accomplished, chips. Order a horchata too. Beware! Our delivery direct from their website was just stolen by the driver and the restaurant could care less. We have been regular customers for several years. If we don't go into the restaurant, I order delivery through their website. Tonight, I ordered delivery and got a text that it was delivered. But my front door cameras never went off.... And there was no food on my porch. So naturally I contacted the driver via the number in my confirm, who did not respond to my texts and hung up on my phone calls. At the same time I went door to door to my neighbors, but no food to be found. I called the restaurant and they could care less. An order DIRECTLY from their website and they blew me off. Told me they would call me back. I gave them 15 min before trying again (because I really wanted my food!) and then they just wouldn't answer the phone. Eventually they picked up, again totally could care less, told me it was their busy time and I would get a refund in a week. We ordered this on door dash. They forgot our salsa and guacamole (extra charge by the way) which was frustrating since it went with the quesadilla and the quesadilla seemed on the smaller side. The only thing I really enjoyed about my meal was the al pastor taco. It had a lot of meat and tons of flavor! I would highly recommend. I had pineapple, onions, queso fresco, and cilantro on it. The other taco I had was chicken tinga. The meat had a nice flavor and they included plenty of meat but the whole thing was mush! I hate mushy tacos. Given this I wasn't too thrilled. The elotes seemed definitely not authentic. I could have made them at home by opening up a can of corn, throwing a scoop of mayo in it, some cheese, and chili powder. They did not drain the corn!!! This is one of my pet peeves!! Who wants soggy mayo corn?? No no no. Please fix this. No one should eat elotes this way. I had to drain it and it still lacked flavor. A good elotes has corn that is fully cooked cut off the cob, Not from a can. If you use canned corn, cook it on the grill to give it a char. Definitely will never order this again. read more

I heard a while back that Tacochela was offering some halal options. I finally made my way over. The inside seemed spacious (although I just got takeout), and the menu had a good variety of options. I also love that you can customize each dish to your liking. For halal (and vegan) options, they clearly identify those on their menu board and on the website. I ordered two tacos w/ halal lamb, a sope w/ chicken, and a tamale (comes standard w/ chicken tinga). I'd have to say 3.5 stars overall. The food was good, but not stellar. It wasn't as flavorful as I was expecting based on the mix of ingredients I chose. For example, I thought the cilantro lime sauce would have a stronger flavor than it did. I'm not really sure what a tamale is supposed to taste like, but this one was dry. The only other thing to note is that the pricing was different online than what I paid by ordering over Yelp. The website shows $3.35 per taco with a $0.45 upcharge for lamb, but I paid $4.39 per taco with a $1 upcharge for lamb. This could be due to higher costs that restaurants are enduring, but just something to keep in mind. Ideally, the website should be updated with current pricing. read more

They've been amazing from small to large orders and their chips are TO DIE for. We've used them for mid-sized orders (8-9 people each with specific taco orders and toppings), they are so organized with the packing of orders you never need to guess or manhandle the tacos to figure out whose is whose. Despite the large number of options for toppings they always seem to make them with accuracy. We have also ordered their "grande box" taco bar for a larger group of adults and kids and it worked out perfectly. Meat wasn't dried out at all which we've found with other places. I LOVE TACOCHELA! I cannot believe I have been missing out for so long- I had no idea that a place like this existed so close to home! Tacochela is a beautiful restaurant that's decorated for the artistic eye. When I walked in to pick up my order, I was so happy to be met with an explosion of colors. The ambiance is absolutely gorgeous and has multiple photo ops. But most importantly, the food is DELICIOUS. I enjoy the fact that they're a little more of a Mexican-American fusion. I wouldn't describe the food as your traditional take on Mexican cuisine but rather a more modern take. We ordered a little of everything: tamales ($2.25), tacos ($2.95), burrito bowl ($8.70), and torta ($10, with extra toppings). The tamales was a little bland but everything else was flavorful. I loved that there were different options for sauces and cheeses. I chose the chipotle aeoli and I did not regret it. As for the tacos, I got the Al Pastor and Tinga and both were yummy. The burrito bowl was super tasty. We also got shrimp on the side with the torta and it was such a good decision. Their horchata was also good. Next time, I want to try their burritos, shrimp tacos, and paletas. Because of COVID-19 I believe that indoor dining has closed again. We ordered online and picked up in store and it was a very easy process. Pricing was fair in consideration with the portions. Got 3 tacos Shrimp, El Pastor and Carnitas I let Flaka, the cashier make the dressing choices. Here is the deal, gringos, left to their own choice, over do the dressings. I would love it if they had a recommended dressings for each filling. I had the pickled cabbage with shrimp. I am not sure what else, but it was a flavor explosion. I love cabbage, but it is not what I would choose for a shrimp taco. The shrimp is marinated in something spicy, and maybe the sauce was spicy, so the pickled cabbage was a cool down. I'm not usually a huge fan of the lunch counter style restaurants as they can be really hot or miss but Tacochela is making me think twice about that philosophy. They have a huge meat selection so I tried the pastor and the steak. I also sampled the carnitas. The carnitas sample was dry and the pastor and steak looked good so I mixed them on my nachos.
