Fantastic! This was my first time here and I'll definitely be back! This place is a hidden Gem that looks like the typical restaurant in the corner of the plaza. You don't need to order a burrito, doblada, and Chile relleno to feel full. I was full after the doblada and relleno! Let me tell you about the steak doblada. Handmade quesadillas filled with your choice of condiments! The steak with sour cream, onions and cheese is incredible! The Chile relleno was good, I'm going to try mine with a little rice as you get a lot! The steak burrito was good but I was too full to finish it! Absolutely ridiculous service. I walked in for my order and still had to pay. Was just watching them for 10 mins. No one came to ask me anything they just kept looking at me and then working. When the lady finally came - she told me they made my order wrong and I can just take it like that. I had a lot of back and forth and then she finally agreed to make it again. I had also ordered chips and salsa and she told me that she gave the salsa to the people in front of me and that now they are sold out of all salsa. We eat here 2 to 3 times a month. Food is excellent. The owners are friendly. Service is usually good. Often like today 8/5, there is a white girl, I say that because she is the only one working there, is incredibly rude and unfriendly. We order beans, among other items. Chips are suppose to come with it. She does't bring them with the beans, we have to ask her, she says it will be a min. A few min go by, then we see her deliver chips to another table that ordered after us. Wtf, my wife's eyes were shooting daggers at her. She knew what she was doing. The thing is, this same shit happens with this person all the time. Another time we came in, they obviously had a problem with their AC. I asked this same person is your AC not working. She said it was, and offered no further explanation. Finally the owner walked over and said the back room was a lot cooler and it was. This ass wasn't going to say anything about the back room. Taco Express of Westmont on Fairview is for sure my favorite! Their Chile Relleno dinner is incredible. The homemade tomato red sauce is exactly what won me over. The dinner has 2 stuffed peppers and they are generous in size. I always have leftovers for lunch the next day. I believe this location is family owned and operated. We got a taco salad, fish tacos, and steak tacos, along with chips and salsa, beans and rice. The taco salad was good, but the fish tacos were pretty tasteless, and not much steak on those tacos. We asked for mild salsa, and we definitely didn't get that. Very spicy, but still not very tasty. And even though we got it back to the house within five minutes, everything was cold. On top of this, nobody in the place was very covid careful. We're trying to get takeout from as many places as we can to support local businesses, but these guys didn't do much to want us to come back. read more

I ordered a chicken burrito as did my daughter. I do not ever throw away food and I threw out my entire burrito. There was no meat and the meat that was there was horrible; absolutely tasteless. My daughter threw out half of hers. Chips and salsa (which were extra for dine in) were good. My high school aged son ate his steak burrito but noticed the water stains on the ceiling. I recently stopped in at Taco Express to get pricing for a next day catering order. It was around dinnertime and the place was slammed, so I grabbed a menu and decided to call later when it was not busy. I called around 9:30 PM on a Saturday night and explained to the lady, Jasmine, who answered what I was looking for. She said to call back in 20 minutes so she could go ask and get the appropriate pricing for me. I said ok and hung up. About 10 minutes later, I received a call from Jasmine who told me the pricing and I told her it sounded great and placed my order for the next day. Awesome - or so I thought... The next day I went in with my dad and nephew to pick up the order for my son's birthday party. When the lady rang it up (not Jasmine but Reyna) she told me a different price than Jasmine told me the night before when I placed the order. It was about $100 more than what Jasmine told me!!! I explained to Reyna that I spoke to Jasmine and she told me the price almost $100 less. Reyna said to hold on while she called the manager. We waited. Reyna then came back and said that Jasmine was wrong and the owner said the price was the higher one. I argued saying that that was NOT what I was quoted and something should be done. This was terrible customer service and they really need to talk to their employees about giving out false information. Especially when it is a large catering order. Clearly, I would have gone elsewhere or adjusted my order as I was on a budget for this party. I then asked Reyna to call the owner back so I could speak with him. She said no, he was at the game (the Bears game I would assume). I said that this is absolutely outrageous and something needs to be done. Whether they discount my order or something but this is NOT how you should treat customers. A few people in the back started speaking Spanish and another older woman came up and explained that nothing could be done. That I was given the wrong information by Jasmine. I told her that was not MY fault, that it was THEIR employee and they should give me the price I quoted. My dad then stepped in and spoke to the others in Spanish. They did not know he spoke it, so this totally caught them off guard. They argued for awhile in Spanish and the older woman seemed very apologetic, however she said her hands were tied. So my dad said that they needed to take some money off or we would walk. Now, at this point I have like 20+ people at my house expecting food, so I told my dad that we should just pay and I would spread my opinion and be very vocal about the TERRIBLE Customer Service I received. They ended up taking like $20 off my bill, which was an insult, but I was not about to ruin my kid's family birthday party because he wanted tacos so badly for dinner. When we got the food, the older woman said she was sorry again and I told her it was not her fault, but that someone needs to talk to Jasmine or fire her because she is clearly giving out wrong information. Reyna then said she has done it before so I am not sure why Jasmine is still working there to be honest. Reyna told me that the owner would follow up with me. It is only the next day, so I will give it a week but I am not holding my breath. So, needless to say I will NEVER go back to Taco Express 2 in Westmont off Fairview Ave. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and WRONG PRICING GIVEN OUT. Also, the order was wrong when I arrived, but I was not about to get into that too. I am so glad my 10 year old nephew was there to witness that. He said he learned a valuable lesson in standing up for yourself, trying to negotiate and never underestimating someone (when my dad spoke Spanish to the workers even though they didn't expect him to speak it.) It is very unfortunate that this went down as my family really likes the food here, but alas we will have to find a more HONEST Taco joint. The end. read more

You will not meet friendlier people working at a restaurant. Great staff! The food is authentic Mexican. If you like spicy salsa, order the salsa and toritilla chips! The salsa is pretty hot with lots of cilantro! The one thing I like at this restaurant that I haven't found at other Mexican restaurants are the dobladas. They are tasty. I don't know how to really describe them other than they're kind of like tacos. The tinga and cecina are good here, which aren't in every Mexican restaurant, either. The tortas, horchata, tacos, gorditas, and dobladas are all good here. I usually get them with either tinga, carne asada, pollo (chicken), or cecina. Cecina is a marinated steak and the tinga tastes similar to pulled pork - Mexican style. My usuals are tacos de cecina, gordita de pollo, doblada de tinga, or doblada de carne asada. You can also ask for a torta cubana. It's not on the menu, but they make it for me when I ask for it. It's a sandwich with eggs, milanesa (breaded steak), ham, avocado, sour cream, refried beans, and tomato. Usually very good and filling. Also try the tacos with cilantro y cebolla (onions) instead of lettuce, onions and tomato. It's better that way (in my opinion). Been coming here for over 2 years now. This is the spot for Mexican food! Never greasy, meat is top quality, rarely find grisly meat in your food. The mole chicken is amazing but the pastor is my favorite. Chicken soup is always good. Man I really wanted some delicious burrito this past weekend. I had just gone to Brookfield Zoo all afternoon and worked up an appetite walking around with the hubby and kiddo. We got back home and decided to try Taco Express. I ended up really disappointed because my burrito was probably the worst I've ever had. It wasn't horrendously offensive, just extremely bland and tasteless. I got a chicken burrito and apparently they don't use ANY seasoning on their chicken. So I got a tortilla with lettuce and cheese and bland chicken. Yuck! As hungry as I was, I couldn't finish it. My hubs got a beef burrito and it had seasoning on it and tasted miles above mine. I've eaten here many more times since my last review and I think I was too hard on this establishment. Their food is consistently good, the restaurant is consistently clean and well-maintained, and it deserves 4 stars overall instead of only 3. I said in my original review that I thought the chile relleno dinner was too oily, but now I don't think so. A lot of the liquid is oozing from the fresh poblano peppers and/or the cheese inside rather than oil from the fried batter covering the pepper. Everywhere else where I've had this same dish had similar liquid coming out of it. The more I've had their chile relleno dinner, the more I think it's great. Highly recommended! read more

Avoid the chicken at all costs!! I ordered a Jr. Chicken burrito that was one of the worst Mexican dishes I've had. The chicken seems sweet, like they tried to do a mole sauce, but it went horribly wrong. I didn't even finish half before I threw it out. Also, the only thing that made it Jr. was that it had less filling. The tortilla was the same size, so it was tons of tortilla, which I guess wasn't totally terrible because it drowned out the awful chicken taste a bit. The salsa was only okay. It, too, tasted like it had sugar added to it but was under salted. The refried beans were dry and the rice was too sweet because it had too much carrot. My husband had the steak tacos and enjoyed that, but could only give 2 stars because of the dry beans and sweet rice that came with it. This is about 3 blocks from our house, but we will gladly drive to Los Dos or Taco Diner for better. We probably won't be back. read more

Came here for take out one night, wasn't busy inside the restaurant. Came almost 30 mins after ordering and the girl didn't even put in our order, she said in spanish for them to make it fast.
