We needed tacos & found this spot. So glad we did! Ordered a pair of 3 taco plates w rice & beans to go. Saw the salsa bar and flashed back to some of my favorite taco stands in LA. This selection was excellent. I sampled a handful of varying spice. Each different& delicious. Relaxed atmosphere. It's a small taco place right on the street. As you walk in, you place your order at the front cash register. As you find a seat, someone is quick to place a small tray of chips in front. They have salsa bar with about 8-10 different salsas. I wish they were labeled better so you can see what is what. I ordered three tacos: (2) steak (1) chicken On corn tortilla with cilantro and onion. To be very honest, it tasted very American and to top it off plenty of "gringos" were there that night. Alright... Originally gave this place 3 stars but was in the area and gave them another try. The Cochinita is a MUST! It is fantastic!! There are a handful of tables for dining in which would be my pick to enjoy the salsa bar. They had over a dozen salsas and all were unique and tasty. A good variety as well as free chips when you are dining in. For food, I ordered steak and al pastor tacos. Both were solid. I also ordered a cheese quesadilla which was fine, nothing insane. My only complaint is I wish they had bigger bowls to put salsas in. This would limit how often I was going back to get refills on salsa. read more

The bread is not your typical bolillos or telera, but more of a soft, shorter Italian bread with a nicely toasted exterior. I can still hear the crunch when I bit into it. The ham, roasted pork, al pastor, refried beans, avocado, tomato, onions and cheese on the Hawaiiana torta were so good. This was a sizable torta. What a gem in the burbs. During lunch this place was busy, but I was able to find a table with my friend. Get yourself a horchata to cool off all the salsa you'll probably end up trying with your chips. There must have been over 10 different salsas to choose from, and all were unique and made fresh. Taco Grill and Salsa Bar aren't messing around when it comes to their meats and salsa. Sooo we went here today for some lunch. I personally did really like my steak tacos, my rice seemed a bit hard but I still ate some of it. Now the salsa bar, some of the small containers were filthy.. still had left over salsa in some of them. I was able to find a couple that was clean & I still wiped them out. Call me gross for even still looking to use some but I did. Only tried 2 salsas, the green mild salsa was pretty good. That's the only one I ended up using. side note: I read a comment that said something about their salsa dripping off of their finger back into the salsa bowls. I thought that information was useful before going but now that I went, that's completely avoidable. Don't pour too much & don't pour over the remaining salsa. Be clean with it just to keep germs at bay. I'm giving them 4 stars bc at the end of the day the food was still pretty good. Also ordering take out is always an option read more

I was out in Westmont last night. I was talking to a guy that just started Culinary school @ Kendall. He Mentioned that they have pretty good tacos so I thought I would stop in & give it a try. Taco Grill & Salsa Bar is located on Ogden Ave in Wesmont, IL. I ordered 2 tacos 1 steak & 1 Al Pastor both were pretty good. The nice thing is I was able to sit down & enjoy my food wo/having to eat it in the car or take it 23 miles to home. They have a simple but clean dining room w/some awesome choices on the SALSA BAR. Yay I also got some chips which has gone away w/Covid @ many places as it has been mostly takeout. Try the Cochinita Pibil on a taco, great blend of spices in a slow roasted style pork. They also have a good variety of salsas to try at the Salsa Bar. The Conchita Pibil was also really good on a torta as well, that was also a large portion. To go orders are filled pretty quickly. read more

I was told the restaurant was amazing and tasteful which it was But I was disappointed when I found this piece of wood chip of some kind. I was very close to swallowing it and I caught it at the very last second. The restaurant also for an order we placed on the restaurants website then has to wait for that order to be made. Our friends picked up dinner here for Cinco de Mayo this week - they called ahead in the am for a 5 pm pick up and still had to wait outside in a crowd of people for 55 minutes. The tacos were good but thrown together haphazardly and all our boxes had food smeared on the outside. Just taking them out of the carry out bag made a huge mess. They ordered a bunch of salsas - we had about 6 big containers and 12 small tasting cups and only received two small bags of chips. Not enough for 4 people or all that salsa. The flavor was really good though and most of the problems we had, I'm sure you could chalk up to it being the busiest day of the year for Mexican restaurants and everyone ordering takeout. I will definitely try it again - I just hope that they take more care with future orders. read more

I discovered this place about a year ago and it quickly became my favorite taco spot ever, despite being a 20 -30 minute drive. We haven't been here in probably 2 months and went back last night. It was so upsetting and such a waste of $28.29. We both always get the same thing - 3 taco dinner (steak, pastor and chorizo.) Something was very wrong with the chorizo last night. Not only was it super over cooked (all of it, not just some) but it had a horrible taste/aftertaste. The steak and pastor were ok this time, but the horrible taste of the chorizo ruined the entire plate. I tried twice to eat the chorizo, and the second time it took me a good 20 seconds to get it down. It was at that point that I said we just needed to leave immediately. Personally, rice and beans are one of my favorite parts of taco places, and I couldn't even eat those because I was so disgusted by the chorizo. I can't even explain what it tasted like outside of saying that it had an aftertaste of raw pork, despite being so ridiculously charred. Was just a horrible experience. If you like salsas though, their salsa bar is amazing. They have 9+ different salsas, cactus (which I tried for the first time here and now love it!), and zanahorias en escabeche (another favorite of mine!) And they do give you chips at no cost if you dine in. Unfortunately for us, we will never go back. read more

Love this place! Salsa bar is open, chips are warm, & food is awesome! The chorizo is top notch, the service is fast & they are serious about cleanliness! If you can't find a salsa you like from there selection, you are not trying. Two tacos will fill up most adults, so be prepared to take one home if you choose the three taco special. The chips are served warm and complimentary, but the best thing is they have a special seasoning that makes them good enough to eat without salsa! read more
