This is my favorite Taco Deli so far. Good layout, seating:space ratio, and as a gift to humanity, open sinks near an egress. Wash up before and after taking down some scrumptious tacos, y'all! Usual Taco Deli menu here but it seems these are heartier than at two other TDs I have visited. I can fill up on one Taco here. I am making my way through the vegetarian tacos and was up to the Space Cowboy. This experience was chock full of baby portobello mushrooms. I paired it with the hot and medium salsas for a little layered heat to enhance those drier 'shrooms. I made this a plate with The Heather. No attitude and no drama, just deliciousness (iykyk, looking at you 80s). I'll stick with tacos next time- the red rice and beans making up the plate were salty and stiff. This may be my favorite breakfast taco in the world. I am a huge fan. They are always great when you get there with their kind recommendations. My first time was a few years ago, and I became a huge fan of their chorizo, egg, and mashed potato taco. I know, mashed potatoes on the taco, it's kind of a weird combo. Not until you try it here. I also love their habanero salsa with a little bit of carrot in it to knock down the fire. If you aren't going to taco deli while you are in Austin, you are missing out. read more

Visited Tacodeli for National Taco Day. They specialize in Mexican-inspired tacos topped with local and organic ingredients and award-winning salsas. They were giving away a free taco to their Tacodeli loyalty member in their app. Placed the order for the taco in the app and it was ready to pick up when I arrived. The staff addressed me quickly and had my order ready. I have to say that breakfast tacos are my favorite at Tacodeli, I love the Otto with organic refried black beans, double bacon, avocado and jack cheese. The beans are very garlicky and taste delicious. I also like the classic bacon, egg and cheese taco and the sirloin jack and cheese taco with Vital Farms scrambled eggs, grilled sirloin and jack cheese. I always get them on flour tortillas but they do have a corn tortilla option as well. I am not a fan of any of their award winning salsas as they are too hot for me. If you don't use the app to order, you can also order in line and sit in the indoor or outdoor dining area. This location has a nice outdoor patio. I was taking my order to-go. They also have some premade taco options available to choose from if you are in a rush. I do enjoy the salmon pistachio speciality taco for dinner and it was my all time fav. The staff were super friendly, upbeat, and genuinely helpful, they walked me through the menu and made great recommendations. I ordered three tacos, including the Al Pastor (only available on weekends), and every single one was large, filling, and packed with flavor. The tortillas were fresh (can choose corn, flour, or wheat), the ingredients tasted high-quality, and everything came out hot and perfectly seasoned. Both were very tasty and the mole was just at the right spice level that I could still enjoy it. What really stands out to me is how they have a private parking lot which is a big deal on S Lamar. Tacodeli's S Lamar location is finally open! Stopped in for a look-see and a couple of breakfast tacos. Their first day at this location, and it was busy! The restaurant is very pretty, bright and airy with cheerful colors and a nice covered outdoor seating. And best of all, the food is great. My migas taco and Jess' Special were made to order (unlike another local taco chain that just slaps lukewarm scrambled eggs onto a cold tortilla before adding pico then cheese then chips--not so damn good). Quick serve tacos finally came to S Lamar. Okay, I know there are a million taco joints in Austin. Hell, there are like 10 Tacodelis. It isn't anything particularly special, right? But it is! I LOVE when the taco fairy graces me at work with a mashed potato and egg taco with Fona sauce. And now, that fairy doesn't have to go too far. We came for the grand opening. Collectively we tried all the proteins and several drinks. My favorite was the frozen with sandía. So refreshing! Aesthetically, it hasn't changed much since the last owner. It's always exciting to have a new Tacodeli and this is a good location on South Lamar where Masa y Mas used to be. I like the white stucco interior and blue decoration that give it almost a Mediterranean feel, and the building is plenty big with indoor and outdoor seating and lots of parking in front and back. Everyone I interacted with was so friendly and welcoming. And they were efficient about cleaning tables to make room for new guests since the opening weekend crowd was big. The menu selection looked great and I had to try a few different things, including a lemonade that was nice and refreshing. The beef tacos were very tender in all the forms I tried, so that was important since other places can be tough or gristly. There was plenty of flavor and heat on some of the choices too! The $26 lunch wasn't worth it. Their Ensalada Aguacate was lame. No dressing. I would have done better eating raw celery from HEB. They charge $6 for added protein sirloin. But the issue is the bowl. The amount of food is very small. Why can't they just make the container a bit larger ? Vegetables cost next to nothing. The customer feels rewarded when the bowl is large and loaded . ... This location is only one month old. It's located where Masa Y Mas used to be located. I ordered two build your own breakfast tacos with corn tortillas, eggs, sausage, grilled sirloin, and avocados. This location has exceptionally good customer service compared to the Spyglass location. The cashier had a really positive attitude with a smile and offered me a cup for water while I waited for my to go order. Everything was good except for the grilled sirloin. I love their Doña salsa ! I Used to stop by River City Market maybe once a week to pick up a Freaking Vegan grab and go. They took over this location, which has a great little patio. I'm an avid Tacodeli lover and very excited to see this one join S.Lamar. I'm incredibly disappointed with my experience this morning. I ordered 2 separate orders totalling $40. The first order was Bean & Cheese (it was fine), Freakin Vegan (so sad, there was a piece of an avocado that was 1/4" big for the entire taco & maybe .5 tsp of Pico), Egg, Potato & Cheese (the order got rang in wrong and I didn't can't it, so I was pretty disappointed - when I repeated my order 2x to get Beans, potato & cheese. But it was edible). The second set of tacos. Egg, Potato, Cheese & Sirloin ( had maybe a Tsp of Barbacoa so not only was the wrong meat but also a very very small portion for over $5), Egg, Potato, Cheese, Bacon (No Bacon at all, also over $5), Egg, potato, cheese & sausage (had 2 tiny asprin size pieces of sausage. Also over $5) Just overall incredibly disappointing for the price and value of the food I received. Everyone working was nice but the lady on the expo was chatting the entire time with the line as they were preparing food so it appeared nobody was really paying attention - I think this could have been a factor of the food being poorly made and made incorrectly. They also kept chatting even when food was in the window while I stood waiting. I'm all for talking to eachother but not when you should be reading tickets to prepare food items and getting the food out of the window in a timely fashion. Letting a customers food die in the window is just poor form especially when they can see you doing it. I'm incredibly sad and I hope that things get better at this location. But I do have a pretty bad taste in my mouth today. read more

Probably the best breakfast tacos I've had in Austin. Fluffy eggs & perfectly cooked meat. The egg to topping ratio is perfect! Most breakfast tacos I've tried are 90% egg and 10% topping but the tacos here are like 40% egg and 60% topping. Sooooooo delicious! Beautiful space, great staff. Tacos were perfect- I get flour tortillas, crispy so they aren't gluey when I eat em back at work.
