I've heard of this place since the Brickell City Center opened and decided to come try "awesome Mexican food". To start off, the host who seated us didn't even acknowledge that my gf was on a knee walker and leg boot (injured and with handicap equipment) and he decided to sit ya in a very uncomfortable table, I requested a change to be more comfortable for her to access the seat and park the little scooter and so he did. The idea of the electronic menu is cool because you can order from the comfort of your table without waiting for the waiters to come and if you're super hungry it works perfect because the food comes out pretty quickly. Let's keep talking about service, the gentleman who served us, he was nice explaining how the ordering from the table works but once our food got to us he never came back to check on us, we asked him for extra jalapeños when our food arrived and he brought something else. After that I noticed that he was also helping or the table next to us and he had been a bit more comprehensive on the overview of the restaurant with them, explaining the different sauces they have and brought them (and all the other tables except ours) a bottle of water for people to pour at their own pace. So I was a bit turned off by that... Now, let's talk about the food... I was impressed of the "basicness" of it... I was really expecting a true taco experience with a bunch eclectic flavors and culinary fusions to indulge not only my taste buds but my eyes, because us consumers are very visual, and if something looks good we will most likely buy it. The drinks menu had fun drinks and I like how hey are presented but non of them really caught my attention so I went for a Modelo. Great food. Great decor. Great people here. This food is worth the trip to the city center. The flavors all jump out and make you smile. I usually love putting sauces on my tacos, but to do so here is to ruin the experience. The pork was salty, the beef was seasoned just right, the shrimp was battered and paired perfectly in the tostado, and the Baja fish tacos tasted like back home in California. The nice finish to all of this was the corn pudding, which should never be skipped. The manager and executive chef are in the mix and out with the customers at all times. You may never realize they're serving you the food, but it's probably good to know they're thay involved. Don't hesitate and get over to enjoy some amazing food. We're for sure going back. read more

Been here a few times and the food has been pretty good. Fish and lobster tacos are by far the best. However, portions are very small so be prepared to spend around $40 per person for the food alone. So although the food was good , not sure it is worth the price. read more

I visited Tacology after a recent Elite Event, because you know we always have a post-elite event lined up. Tacology has a cool vibe. Their layout is a little intriguing. You have a few seating options. Sit outside on the patio or go inside where you have the choice of traditional restaurant seating or the bar. They seperate the joint into 4 sections. One area is where the tacos are made, one area is for Saladbowls and anything with fruit, you have the main bar for drinks and then finally theirs an area to get chocolate desserts? It's a little weird, but I guess it works for them. This place has the potential to get high ratings but my beef with it is the pricing. I mean I get it, you're in Brickell City Center, but tiny taco's starting at $7 is a bit much. Another dissapoint was the drink I ordered. I forget it's name (the Vato something) but it's Tacology's take on an old fashioned, which comes infused with tequila. It was tasty and the three of us enjoyed it, but I paid $16 bucks for a drink that look like it had a max of 2 ounces of liquid and that's including the two ice cubes that were in it. Not sure what I'm talking about? Check out David L.'s post below, he included a photo. Needless to say, after that drink, we didn't order more for the evening. Hopefully this isn't common practice, because it felt like I paid for a drink, but was given a shot. Pros: - Nice vibe, ambiance. - Friendly staff, including the bartenders which were cool and attentive. - Grab one of the spicy watermelan mexican candies from the hostess, they are delicious. - Cons: - The drinks average $13-$16 bucks a pop and are severly underpoured (from my groups experience). - It's a bit pricey for mexican tacos but it's brickell so you alreayd know this going in. read more

Ok, the decor is nice and the food is good. The food is pretty standard Mexican food. Not the American version of Mexican food but the authentic kind, and that is much appreciated. There order system through ipads. The food comes out quickly and you basically have a direction to da kitchen, which is great. I, however, debated whether to give it 3 or 4 stars. Here's why, first, price. The dishes are just not worth their price. This is delicious Mexican street food. The prices aren't even close to what they should be. But we kind of new what we were in for so that didn't bother us too much. Just thought it important to point out. But the biggest star deduction comes with the staff. Our waiter, a Spanish guy, was GREAT and super accommodating. But when we arrived the hostess (female) did not smile, did not greet us (a party of 7), tried to discourage us from waiting, and hand picked for us to wait 45 mins. for a table when you could clearly pick other waiting times. Fortunately another host came by us and told us it should only be 10 mins., and did not know why she had us put down to wait so long. Came out to Tacology with fellow yelpers for drinks after an event and I have to say the view and set up of this establishment is really cool! It's located at the 4th floor of the shopping mall and the decor is pretty neat. They have some outstanding signature cocktails that come served in fancy, creative glasses but the drinks themselves aren't made too strong especially for the price you pay. I do really like the menus and the option of being able to order through the iPad menu or through the bar which I thought was really cool. I tried the coquito signature cocktail which was delicious and quite refreshing and it even came in a very cool glass! The only bad news is that it was loaded with a little too much ice. Also had the tequila old fashioned which was quite brilliant but a common theme I had noticed with the drinks is that they seem to serve them pretty light. Not too sure about the kitchen and food but if I end up coming back I will have to give it a try. read more

At Brickell City Center today for the first time and stopped in at Tacology. Total winner. Every offering, yellow tail, octopus, shrimp, in the 3-ceviche sampler was outstanding. I spend a lot of time in Southeast Asia at restaurants where I am ordering fish swimming around in the tank. So I know fresh. This was fresh. Octopus was super tender. Taco plates consist of two small tacos which is fine with me. Means I can sample without getting totally stuffed. I'm a fan of leaner meats but my 104 lb wife loves pork belly. First time I've seen it in a taco but it was crispy and super high-quality with just the right pork to fat ratio. Virgin Mojito (sorry I'm a wimp) was a super refreshing palate cleanser throughout the meal. Biodegradable straw made of agave was a nice touch. Server GIgi had a super personality, brought things without asking such as a hot sauce selection, and kept the water topped off. This will become one of our go-to places. read more

So you need to wait a bit to get a table. When you get to your table don't expect a menu there is a tablet that you look at it's menu. I didn't like the whole tablet to look at the menu because we had to take turns to look at what we were going to eat. I decided to order takeout since i've been slightly obsessed with coyo lately & wanted to try something new for taco tuesday. i chose the Shrimp Tacos (Shrimp-quinoa, agave-chipotle, avocado and cilantro) & the Baja Fish Tacos (Beer battered corvine, pickled red onion and chipotle mayo)... sounds exciting, no? a HARD NO. The shrimp tacos were as bland as bland can be & i ended up fully dunking into the "agave/chipotle" sauce before every bite to register some sort of taste on the tongue. unfortunately, it wasn't great. completely lacked spice of any kind which was highly disappointing. the fish taco didn't fare any better. tiny bit of fried fish on a tiny soft tortilla with a smattering of pickled onions & a dollop of "chipotle mayo" again, barely any flavour & definitely NO heat or spice. Ok, the food is delicious but let me get started with our server Richie. They have iPads available on each table for guests to order. He asked us to add our food items into the cart and call him over before we submit our order. We call him over once we are ready to place our order. He takes the iPad and walks away. He comes back and sets the iPad on our table left with the items on the cart. He did not say a word and we did not ask Richie if he had placed the order so I personally placed the order. He comes back and tells us that the order was placed twice but not to worry, the mistake will be fixed. When we receive our bill, the items from the second order were not removed. We told Richie what happened and he said that the items will be removed. He comes back and only a few of the items were removed. We tried to explain why the bill was incorrect and he did not bother to listen to us, he grabbed the bill and walked away. He did this twice. $30 for service charge was a bit much for what we ordered. We were getting annoyed at this point. We are not math wizards but we noticed right away that something was wrong with the bill. We asked him to print out a bill with ALL the correct items we intended to order. He said he couldn't. I asked if we could speak with his manager so we can sort it out. We just wanted to leave and speak with someone who would actually listen to us and not walk away when we were trying to explain why the bill was incorrect. After about 5 minutes... we finally got the bill with only the items we intended to order. He was upset because we noticed he gave himself a $30 tip and not all the items were removed. I had visited Tacology in the past when they first opened and I honestly was not impressed. HOWEVER, my recent visit changed my mind completely! There are a few things to keep in mind before you go. First, the plates are small. If you're expecting 3 large tacos in your meal with a side of rice and beans, this is not the place for you. With that being said, I think the quality makes the meal absolutely worth it! I had the cochinitas tacos which is pulled pork and pickled red onions and they were delicious! Food was seasoned and flavorful and just the right amount of spicy. In the past I had tried the shrimp tacos which were equally delicious, and the guacamole is pretty good. DRINKS ARE AMAZING. I forgot the name of the margarita I had but it was classic lime flavor with Tajin on the rim and it was large and STRONG. I was definitely leaning in my chair a little after. Followed up the margarita with a michelada preparada, a sort of Mexican Bloody Mary which was delicious! My friends ordered the drink that comes in a skull which is a coquito type drink and it was so yummy! Price is on point for this type of restaurant in Miami. Two tacos were $7, bowl of guac was like $8-9 and drinks were in the $12-$15 range. Coupled with the ambiance of the restaurant I think the prices are fair if you know what to expect before you go. Lastly, the service was awesome! Our waitress Victoria was super personable and took good care of us. She was very knowledgable about the menu and the iPad ordering system and kept an eye on us throughout the night. The service was a big highlight of our night. Tacology is a beautiful space in, for lack of a better term, a shopping mall. I went with a few girl friends and we had the guacamole and I ordered the pollo pastor and the tuna taco. I was surprised at how much a normally meh chicken taco blew me away. The chicken was chargrilled and crispy but also juicy and flavorful. The tuna taco pizza (can't remember the exact name) was a let down. Normally I love raw tuna in any form but this one was pretty bland. The drinks were delicious and the service was great. It was a little pricey though, and while our waitress was great, I was a little confused and unsure where I stand on the iPad ordering system. read more

I was there last Sunday , for first ( and last ) time . Place is very nice , casual but elegant. Very well located. Service is good . Ordering by an iPad was a easy and good experience . I just do not understand why the include the tips on the final bills . Who m'I tipping ? The iPad ? Lol The contact with the server is almost none, so I think you better leave the tip on my discretion . The food was tasty in general and the drinks were the best . the price seems decent till you see the food . Super tiny portions , we spent almost one hundred dollars, 2 drinks included , and we left hungry and disappointed . The crab tostada was nice. OVERPRICED for two small tacos. It was my first time in this place. I've eaten in different tacos places and honestly, there is no difference between them. So Tacology is not the exception. The service was slow. I was ready to get up and walked out but the server promised me that my order, nachos rellenos, was going to be ready in two minutes and he apologized for the more than 10 minutes delay. Supposedly, he talked to the manager about my discomfort but the manager never showed up at my table to offer any apology or explanation about the slow service. To make long story short, the waitress did his best at the end offering free dessert and discount on my ticket. The food is a fun and interesting spin on classic Mexican. They have a few vegetarian options but not yummy greasy ones... mostly salads:/ (just because I don't hurt animals doesn't mean I'm a health nut) I enjoy the varieties of guacamole because anything with pomegranates is amazing! And the elote is great! My issue is the service. You order on an ipad without a waiter. I love asking the waiter what they like and what is popular. No one helps here. Also you get 2 little paper napkins. When eating tacos I need many more, but I can never find a waiter to help. Also huge plus.. the guacamole serving is huge. But the chips come in a teeny bowl with 10-12 chips. (We went through 3 bowls... I had to ask 6 different waiters for them and each time took a few minutes for them to come back) it made it difficult to enjoy the guacamole and chips. It lasted beyond dessert. Maybe add some service and larger chip bowls... then I could give a solid 4, maybe even a 5 ;) read more
