First off, I have been coming here for years - I remember when it was an actual bus food truck. Now they have a drive-thru or you can go inside and order. While it isn't the "prettiest" building or the most luxurious setting, do not walk away. The food is delicious--their salsas and juices are delicious. These tacos are either a hit or miss. Sometimes they are so good and I want more! Other times they aren't as good for some reason. I'm not too sure what the difference is. One thing I don't like is the prices. I don't think they should be as expensive as they are. Specially for the size of them. Not to mention. You could spend about 30 and they will only give you a small cupped hand sized container of charro beans. The BEST taco truck on Edgebrook dr! I did a test one day and got 2 tacos from Multiple different trucks on Edgebrook Drive and Taconmadre absolutely blew the competition out of the water. So we've been here before and it was great and all. Come tonight (Friday 12:14 am) not a big line. I called three times to place my order no one ever answered. Get down to order, the man in the now "Taconmadre Express" bus sees me at the window and walks off. This mother just walked off!!! Never said I'll be right with you or anything. The ladies inside saw me standing at the window and never asked to take my order. The man then comes back to the bus, takes my order. The entire time this man has the nastiest look on his face. As if he were in a bad mood. Hell just to get a word out of his mouth seemed to much for him. That's a big No No for me. I'm giving you my money!! 15 minutes later, my order is ready. The prices used to be cheaper but they have been getting recognition all over H-Town. It was inevitable that prices would go up. I am so grouchy at how much traffic was here. This was my little piece of Heaven. I told nobody and still everyone knows. Prices are still very decent, and they definitely deserve all the business. After moving into the area, we quickly found out that Edgebrook the northside of 45, is a crazy stretch of taco trucks. This one seems to be one of the most popular. I couldn't really figure out if the building is only open at certain times or is that only for dining and the cooking takes place in the truck? Either way, we came one morning for some tacos. My fiancee got 3 corn tacos, pastor, barbacoa, and fajita beef, I got the same three meats on flour. We saw that there was a significant price difference, at some places it's the exact same price, just a preference, but here the reason the price is different is that the corn tacos are much smaller. I enjoyed my flour tacos, my favorite was the barbacoa, the beef was too salty and the pastor was too dry. I did like the crisp they put on the outside of their tortilla. I am open to trying some of the other trucks along edgebrook, but this one did not impress me enough to return. read more

I love taco stands and so far this is my favorite. I've been going to this one for years, ever since they were a roach coach :). Now they're a small restaurant with a drive-thru. The ex-hubby introduced me to it and I still continue to go. Even my relatives from Louisiana make me take them here when they visit. They always get the tortas and burritos. I can't remember exactly what they ordered, but the burritos ($5) were huge! I love tacos al pastor or con chicharrones! My usual order are tacos de maiz al pastor ($1.50/ea and I usually get about 5 for me and the hubby). All I can say is mmm mmm mmm....squeeze lime all over those suckers, spread the cooked onions, cilantro, and green sauce and oh my gahhhh! Finger-lickin' good. I'm only giving this 2 stars because I'm not going to lie food is good. But customer services and getting orders correct is somehow beyond there control. I always call in a order expecting it to be ready upon be paying for it. But no not this place they tell you 15 minutes over the phone and I wait 30 minutes before I leave to go get it and when i actually get there hand the money over that is when they start making my order. Because I have to wait another 10-15 minutes extra before my food comes out. And I tell them exactly how I want my order they still manage to fuck it up.... They really need to change that sign of there call ahead of time to avoid lines because it really is bullshit. read more

Had to check out this place cause it came highly recommended from a friend. It use to be a restaurant but now the restaurant is closed and all that's left is a food truck on the opposite side of the restaurant. If you're heading down Edgebrook, the street that he food truck is on, you will also see a number of food trucks line up along both sides of the street. I ended up driving too far and missing it. Had to look up the original restaurants address to find it. You can tell this food truck apart from the others because this one is green. There is a lot to choose from at this food truck but I ended up ordering 4 corn todos for $6.00. They were $1.50 for corn tacos and 2 something for flour tacos. Got two fajitas, one pastor, and one barrbacoa. They also gave me packets of red and green salsa. The tacos were good but they didn't blow me away. I thought they were a bit expensive for being so small. Maybe the other choices on the menu will be better bang for my buck. Will definitely have to try. read more

Ok yes, the man in the window lacks customer service skills and is kind of rude but you're buying food from a food truck and most likely aren't tipping so the service really didn't bother me nor did I care for it. Now the food is delicious! So much flavor and they put everything in the bag! Napkins, salsas (both green AND red), beans, and forks. We waited 13 mins for a #14, 7, and 4. The only reason this rating is at a 4 and not a 5 is because I got the worst food poisoning I've ever had in my life. I'm pretty sure it was the beans since my fiancé didn't eat them and didn't get sick. I was sick for 4 days before finally feeling better. I asked my students to recommend a good taco truck and they told me to go to "the first green food truck on Edgebrook", or Taconmadre. Well, my kids were right! The first time I went I got tacos (of course-heck, it was even a Tuesday!), I think it was #22, and they were awesome. I honestly wanted to go back for more. The second time I went I totally collaborated with my students in what I should get (the menu is online). They told me to get the Torta. I'll be honest, to me it was just a burger with ground beef and sour cream. It was good, but not what I expected. My fault that I didn't realize what I was getting (actually, I blamed my students who insisted I order a Torta, lol). The rice and beans are very good, better than most sit-down restaurants, and the salsa is SPICY . I would go there more often, but it's out of my way-there are no taco trucks by me . I recommend calling in your order before hand because they do make it fresh when you order, and the window where you order and wait for your food is right in the sun in the afternoon.
