I'm not even going to hide the fact that I jumped up and down when I saw Tacoria was opening near me. A much welcomed addition to the food scene in downtown princeton - Tacoria is fun, fresh, fast, and fanfriggintastic. I had attended a Yelp Event at the North Brunswick location before, and ever since then I was hooked. We stopped by on Friday night for a quick bite with plans to take our food to go and eat it in at Witherspoon square in order to enjoy the weather. Thank goodness too, because it was PACKED! Walking in around 7:30, the line was TO THE DOOR and the place was firing on all cylinders. The music was festive, and people were generally in a good mood (as one tends to be when tacos are in your future), so the wait really didn't bother us. We had ample time to check out the space and custom artwork, my favorite featuring a spray-painted Einstein blowing hearts towards a beautiful skeleton/woman. The getting-your-order system is still being perfected - perhaps a number system for order pick ups might improve things, but as it stands a very tall man shouts out your name when your order is up - worked really well for the most part! However, in frightening turn of events, our food was almost given to the wrong person who thought his name was being called - despite his name clearly NOT being Kyle.... but oh goodness, can you imagine the travesty?! Thankfully we had been watching closely so crisis adverted! The seating appears to be plentiful, with lots of tables/booths lining each wall - however with a line to the door, there's definitely not going to be enough seating for all. It's a pretty quick turnover though - and with summer weather coming I don't foresee this being an issue since Princeton has lots of benches and tables available. Now the food. Why we came, of course. Big surprise, but we decided to order a couple things and share to get a taste of the menu. My husband is a BIG fan of elote, so we ordered mexican street corn, guacamole + chips, and a burrito. The burrito was MASSIVE, and was definitely enough for 2 people! It was delicious - we ordered the Mission Style Burrito with Pollo Asado as our protein (citrus kissed grilled chicken with habanero), it had just the tiniest kick of heat and was perfect inside the burrito! Of course, I opted to drown the whole thing in Salsa Verde from the salsa bar, which is my favorite. The mexican street corn was perfection, and great for sharing - 2 pieces come in an order! The guac was goals - even this had a kick! My husband admittedly thought it was a bit spicy, but it was right up my alley. I may or may not have eaten it pretty much by myself. With vegetarian and even vegan options available - not to mention their amazing food - I see Tacoria standing the test of time here. Solid menu options without being overwhelming, and straight up yummy. Maybe I'm just a sucker for mexican food, but I LOVE tacoria. They even have brussel sprouts on the menu as an option, I can't wait to get my hands on those! I will definitely be back! read more

Tacoria is one of the hottest spots in Princeton right now, and for good reason. The food is delicious and fresh, and for a price that won't break the bank. It's no wonder so many students from Princeton University frequent here. The only thing missing is ambiance. Ita loud inside and there isn't typically enough seating, both due in no small part to how popular it is. Don't let that dissuade you from giving Tacoria a try though, you'll be glad you did. On my first visit to Princeton I found this across the street from campus. The space is small, but super chic. You order at the counter. It's build your own - bowl, taco, burrito or salad. I picked the tacos. You get three tacos with meat and vegetarian fillers. I decided on the spicy pollo, pollo asado, and chorizo. You then wait to pick them up at the end of the counter. We were able to find a seat but it's a small space so the downside is you may not. The wait for the order was also a bit long. All three tacos were very good. My number one choice was the chorizo. Super good flavor! The chips and guacamole were also very good! If you're looking for a taco in Princeton stop in here, but be prepared to wait! read more

Great place for a quick bite- we love taco bowls - the best in the area!

I swoon! This is my new lunchtime go to. When you walk in, you might be a bit overwhelmed but give yourself a second to take in the art, lights and sounds that somehow took a hipster taco food truck and made it into an eclectic, high end, dope spot. The menu is great with fresh ingredients, tasty veggie, vegan and gluten free options. My favorite are the roasted brussel sprouts taco and the golden avocado taco. The agua frescos are delicious too. The staff and owners are super friendly and the cashiers are efficient taking cash and cards. You may have to wait about 10mins for your order if you come around noon but you'll need the time to decide which one of the sauces you want to grab for yourself. If you can find a spot and don't mind sharing a bench with someone, enjoy the music and chow down. If you can't find a spot, it's easy enough to get your food to go. This rating is based on food, and I took a star away for service. I don't know if the person taking the orders was having a bad day or he just lack customer service skills or he just didn't care. I personally believe that customer service is buried somewhere and we will never see it again. The food was very good. I tried a taco and a burrito. The taco was good but I like flour tortillas over corn, which is traditionally used. I love Mexican and this reminded me of a food truck experience. Fast, affordable and good! I got the mission style burrito and it was HUGE! I put my fork next to it for reference. The burrito itself was pretty good but I think there's a lot of rice so it's heavy. I also liked that they grilled both sides of the burrito so it added a nice crunch in every bite. I also got the street style Mexican corn and it was ok. The corn itself was really juicy so I'll give it that! My friend got the quesadilla and she said it was underwhelming. She also got the guacamole and said it was really good. So the guac is 1.50 as an add-on but the cashier said it was more if she got it on the side but didn't say it was .50 cents more - I know it's not a big deal BUT it wasn't even that much more in terms of size. Side note unrelated to the food: there were so many college kids who were RUDE with NO MANNERS. I had two accidentally bump into me and not one sorry. Right after getting my order, I've also had someone who was blocking the sauces and utensils and just looked at me squeezing my way through and didn't even budge. I had a tiny spot to reach for a few things. It's obvious I needed the space and COMMON SENSE. And very minimal, but I was already annoyed, a couple in front of us saved a spot for another couple, ordered, then had a conversation until I said, "we're next." The workers were the only nice people there who said "excuse me" while passing through. It was busy when we got there and pretty crowded. Why I knocked down a star was because of the rice ratio and how my friend said the quesadilla was ok. Other than that, I would go again. The chorizo is perfectly spicy, the chicken is super flavorful, and the avocado is a nice fresh avocado with a light crunch. Their chips are perfect. Freshly made, not salty, real tortilla. They have fresh juices - get one. Ambiance is engaging. Makes you want to stay forever! There are mural, lights, seating, tables that are all unique to the space and all make you want to look around. After a long wait, I finally decided to check this place out! The atmosphere is very social. The interior was pretty cool and had a street art, western, Spanish type of feel to it (if that makes any sense). Lol music is played inside which range from Spanish, American, r&b, and pop). As for the food; it is a little expensive compared to its competitors like Taste Of Mexico, Chipotle, etc. Chips are not included in your order like other places and the burrito is a bit smaller. As for the chips, they do not have a distinct flavor and for them to be prices at $2 (for a small amount) is a bit too much. The drinks are also a bit expensive as well. The wait for my food was about 10-15mins which isn't too bad but I would go here if you are in a rush. Overall, beside the price of a few things, it's not bad. I got the burrito box (with chicken) and the Mexican street corn (it comes with two). For me, the portion was large, so I was able to save the rest of my burrito box for dinner that night. Only downside to this place is that during peak times, it is hard to find seating, so be prepared to squeeze at a table with strangers. However, that is not a deal breaker for me. Favorite place to get burritos in the Princeton area. The vibe of the restaurant is fun and fast-casual. You can sit in or easily take out (although as others have mentioned, eat your food here quickly, it's SO GOOD hot as the burritos come straight off the grill). I always get a mission-style burrito with pollo tinga (shredded chicken stewed in a habanero salsa that's smoky with a slight spice. The burritos come with all the fixings but you can add guac for $1.50. They bundle it up, put it on the grill, and hand it to you fresh and hot. There's a salsa bar in the back with a range of hot sauces and four different homemade salsas to try. Highly recommend this delicious place. This is the kind of place where I say, "believe the hype". I could not for the life of me understand why the new restaurant on Nassau was so busy all the time nor could I be bothered to stop and check it out. Well, eventually I did and though initially expecting a mediocre Chipotle-like experience based on the "fast casual" style of the place, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Yes it was still busy while we were there but the cashiers and back of the house were efficient in taking and releasing orders. Upon getting our order we lucked out and got a table --others were not so fortunate. Merely by looking at the food you could tell that the quality and attention to detail was high, much higher than other eateries in this genre. The food tasted delicious; extremely flavorful and not lacking heat in spicy items. To date I have only had two brief meals at two separate locations of Tacoria and have learned that the owners are Thai(?). Anyway, solid solid NJ chain that I foresee going very far so long as quality control and high level service remains intact. PS: they grill the sides of the burritos giving them great texture and flavor. 10/10 read more

Wow, this place has been open for only 2 months, and I have been to Tacoria 3 times already. The one on Rutgers Campus is amazing, but this one takes the bar even higher. From entering the steampunk ambiance you can notice 2 main things. The long line of hungry customers and the delectable smell of delicious Mexican food. Standing in line does take quite some time because it takes times to get your order right and good food takes all the time it needs. There are long benches for you to sit at, and although this means you may have to sit next to a stranger, it is a very friendly atmosphere. And on to the food, I have tried the nachos, burrito, and burrito bowl. Out of the three I loved the burrito bowl the most because it didn't have as many carbs and I believe you get more substance with the bowl. They both come with a very large selection of meats of which I prefer the chicken adobo for its savory flavor. The burrito itself is still very filling and tasty, so I would recommend trying both. As for the nachos, they are quite big and the chips are not the classic tortilla chips that you get. They are much thicker and crunchy than you would expect, but the difference is quite tasty. There is also an assortment of sauces you should try at the back. And finally, I really enjoyed the music they played here. It was very in line with my music tastes and I was satisfied both by my mouth and my ears. I hope you can enjoy some of the best Mexican food I have had. read more

Went to Tacoria recently with coworkers for lunch. Adorable place! Love the rustic / industrial / Mexican decor. Even the bathroom was unique with it's large metal utility sink. The food ordering was pretty quick. The menu is not too large - which is good. They have a bunch of homemade hot sauces on the wall opposite the registers. Ranging from pretty mild chili Verde to a pretty spicy one. I had a salad with grilled chicken. The flavors were delicious and fresh. Would definitely come back to try more dishes.
