Okay I saw that there were $4 dollar shots outside of the business . I came into the business the manager was present. Refused me service because he claimed I was demanding my own prices. First of all, I came into the business to ask what I saw on the board I saw outside... Full disclosure, I make tacos for a living, so I am not only a little biased, but I have tried a lot of tacos as well. Unfortunatelyfor Tacos Calafia we only found our food average at best. The chicken didn't have much flavor and their cabeza wasn't bursting with flavor either. The Salsas were more heat than flavor. Not all of the sodas were inoperative, bathrooms were notfully lit, but okay. Overall experience was just average and unremarkable. read more

Above average tacos except the dry carne asada, poor service, a little convoluted. Caters to drunk students and otherwise not too concerned about locals and tourists that might require a smile or a word or more than a sour face and hungover demeanor. Above average TJ style tacos with the beef cheek being my favorite. If you're really hungry and don't mind it being a little greasy and messy, grab the beef cheek quesadilla. Issue is the staff can't be bothered to even make eye contact or friendly to a new smiling customer when no one else is even in line. I said hi, how are you and get a blank stare. She looks hungover and exhausted at 1pm. Seems surprised almost shocked that I asked what she recommended. Like it was the first time she heard the word. We asked about the salsa bar and she doesn't take the time to mention we need to buy chips, which is fine. So you buy the chips and guacamole but they just give you chips and you get to eat the guacamole at the salsa bar that is free and used by everyone else. The other girl there that calls out the order was even less helpful. They make a poor representation of their generation unfortunately and I'm still in my 30's. Been here mulitple times now and have tried different meats and they are ALL good! We shared the family meal before and I've also gotten different individual types of tacos (carne asada, cabeza, al pastor, nopales) and their quesadilla, and they are all good! Just their tortillas alone taste better than many other restaurants I've tried. Jaimaca drink was yummy as well, chips and the salsa bar is always good.My friends and I often find it hard to agree on a place since we all have different tastes, and this is one of the few places we all love... we are never disappointed! Next time, I gotta try their margaritas... but we'll be back for sure! read more

This place claims to be an authentic Tijuana Taqueria. I've never been so can't confirm that. I will say that the street tacos are pretty good. I ordered carne asada and Al pastor. The tacos are served plain in a single tortilla. You have to add your own toppings from the salsa bar. The asada were basically stewed beef, clearly not grilled or cooktop fried, so not really asada. They were moist with good flavor. The Al pastor were nice and spicy and tender. One small criticism: the corn tortillas fell apart. That's why most places give you two. I'll be back. The service was ok. Nothing special. Ambiance was converted bar with a TV. Kind of loud but plenty of places to sit. read more

Legit some of the worst food I've ever had. All the meat was dry and I had diarrhea for the next 12 hours after eating the food. It's new so maybe they'll improve on their cooking skills. I ordered my food ahead of time online when I arrived I went to the pick up area and was sent to the register and then the person at the register sent me back to the pick up line saying they'd check on it for me. I came 8 mins after my pickup time and it wasn't started. They never found my order and just gave me meat on a corn shell when I selected flour and even paid extra for cheese. I left 10 mins later so now 18 mins after my pickup time with the wrong food. Disappointed. read more
