My mom and I both got the fish taco plate but I got mine with sautéed fish and she got hers with fried fish so we were able to trade and have one of each. The pico do gallo on it was a bit spicy so I had the waitress bring me some sour cream. The tacos come with two sides so I got rice and refried beans. It was easy to find parking and we were seated quickly. They have many lunch specials and even a create your own combo that includes quesadillas, tacos, burros and filedo ( a tomato based noodle soup). I had the 3 soft chicken tacos and filedo. Both were good but I was still hungry afterwards. I was trying to avoid filling up on the complimentary chips and spicy salsa. A friend had ordered their huge burro and no sides but still she took home leftovers. It was packed during lunch hour during the weekday. We ordered the sopapilla but this version was a lot more denser and bready. It was one big 7x7" square. It was ok, but we left some of it after all 5 of gave it a try. I would go back for dinner. In other words, it's on the classy side of the spectrum. You won't see overly garish colors and sarapes strewn all over the place to remind you where you are. The chips and salsa are a great start here. Plentiful salsa (mild) and a hot option as well that has a kick. I was tempted to try the mole, which is one of my litmus tests, but instead I went for the machaca. It was surprisingly good, especially considering they serve it with green or red chile sauce. The green did not disappoint and the machaca was legit. I couldn't get the flavor of the protein alone, but the texture was tender and chewy. Just right in my opinion. I grew up eating at Rosita's in Mesa, and I am so glad that it still has fine Mexican food. This was my first time at this location in Tempe, but it will not be my last. We were warmly greeted by the staff and given tons of time to look over the menu. While we checked out the menu, we munched on their amazing chunky salsa and spicy salsa that was a little less chunky but had tons of flavor. I ordered the pick two items and got the spinach enchilada and beef taco with refried beans, and my mom did the build your burrito bowl with fajita chicken. Everything was amazing! Seasoned and cooked so well. Both dishes were simple and delicious. Neither one did not need anything added! Our waitress frequently checked on us with a smile and got us everything we needed. We truly felt welcomed! Again, I'm so glad that we made the choice to come back to Rosita's after so many years of being away! Today there were a couple issues with my food and the server physically laughed, twice at the issues, which makes the customer feel like they could care less whether you're enjoying your food or not. That's like the number three or number four ingredient used in their recipies. How can they run out of one of their most basic ingredients? This is an old school mexican restaurant not far from the airport. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and seated promptly. Our drink order was taken and I thought I would try their prickly pear margarita. The cocktail was delivered in a reasonable amount of time and it was very tasty. I think it's my new favorite margarita flavor. For dinner I ordered a cup of albondigas, and two enchiladas (chicken and cheese) with a chile relleno. The albindogas came pretty quickly and it was packed with chicken, veggies, and even the broth was very tasty. A very nice start. My entree came next and in a reasonable amount of time. The rice was very good, beans a little watered down but still flavorful, the chicken enchilada was really dry but the cheese enchilada was delicious. Went to this place way back in the 90s. Decided to give it another try. It's nice inside with an older dark decor. I thought the chips were ok but both hot and mild salsas weren't too good. The mild was tasteless and the hot wasn't hot but salty. Ordered the combo fajitas meal which had both beef and chicken and rice and beans.
