Tacos - Al Pastor & Carne Asada - $4!! Taco Tuesday & Wednesday special!

I was leaving Target, and saw that the Chick Fil A drive through was bananas! I really felt like some Mexican food, and wondered if there was a good taco place close by. Tacos Carlitos popped up on Yelp, and I was a little confused - *where* was this place? Inside the mall? Really? The reviews and photos looked promising, so I decided to give them a try. SO glad I did! People, this place is honest to goodness real Mexican food! This California girl was so excited to have some legit Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos! The next surprise was the price - I was there on Taco Thursday (they do Taco Tuesday AND Taco Thursday specials) - my total was $4! I paid more for my pumpkin spice cold brew today than lunch! The tacos were definitely on point! The Al Pastor taco was absolutely delicious - good balance of sweet and heat! The Asada was very good, though I like just a bit more char on the beef. The tortillas were delicious and sturdy, and the cilantro was super fresh. Next time, I'll definitely order both Al Pastor, and give the guacamole a try! This place deserves a socially distanced line out the door! What a hidden gem!

Loved these tacos! They remind me of the LA taco food trucks! Would definitely go back!

This used to be a great place but it's going down hill. I do love the options they provide, but as a a Mexican American we like our food seasoned not bland. The birria tacos are $7.18 each and they come in a plate of three. They fall apart and they are flavorless, how can that be...but they achieved it. Prices are understably going to be higher because lack of traffic in the mall. I get that, we should expect that. But we had to ask for napkins, being a family of four two napkins weren't going to cut it. But going back to ask for more than two again they don't understand, it gets to be ridiculous. Now, if all this wasn't enough, the lettuce...how do you make it taste weird. It's lettuce! Ok, so an horchata is $4.59. Ok for a drink, across from them you can get a drink $2.59. Yeah, this a rip-off.

I ordered fish tacos!!! They are supposed to come with nice crisp cabbage yet mine had warm limp lettuce. Raccoons eat better from a garbage can!

They serve several breakfast dishes all day. I had the Huevos de Mexicans--which came with rice and beans for carry out. It was great! I will definitely go back. I also liked how they have covered outdoor seating. Cafe Bueno is located conveniently close to Shan row in downtown Frederick. Best of all, they had margaritas to go--so I took some home, since it was Cinco de Mayo!

Based on current reviews something has obviously happened. The server was nice and pleasant and the ability to sit outside is nice. However, our kiddos chicken fingers and fries were OBVIOUSLY undercooked. The chicken tacos were average at best and light on the meat if nothing else. The steak burrito meat literally looked like chopped steakums not an actual cut of steak. We haven't been this disappointed in a long time. Cafe bueno was no bueno. They are charging just as much as some of the other mid to high end Mexican restaurants so you can definitely do better in Frederick.

Got there at 5ish, and had a few patrons and kinda quiet. Very clean, music playing. The staff were SO FRIENDLY! They let me sample the tamarind drink = yummy. We ordered CARNE DESILADA CON HUEVO with French bread vs tortilla, I had the TACOS DE LENGUA and a TAMALES DE POLLO. Every bite was amazing for us both! I gotta say I have judged restaurants solely for their tamales alone, and this is literally one of the best I have ever had. It was huge with a giant tender piece of chicken in it, with a potato, tomato and chickpeas in it! Very unique but the taste...goodness. I want to go back now for another but I am FULL. The Lengua street tacos were on point, delicious. My husband's breakfast dish was fantastic he said, just enough. And he was SO HAPPY he chose the French bread, because apparently that was delicious. He wouldn't let me taste it, it was so good! We wanted to try the BUDIN (Salvadoran-style banana bread pudding) but they were sold out, likely because it was super delicious as well! Next time... Needless to say, we will be back and I'm going to brag to my office mates about this place. Please, try them out!

Well, we were sorely disappointed in what arrived. Including a picture of my Lengua taco. I asked for no onions but keep the cilantro and add cheese and tomato's. Instead, they gave me a horribly tiny portion of meat and nothing else [smh]. My husband was excited to get a breakfast plate. It did not have 1/2 of what was described (no cheese, no avocado, and only a mouthful of rice!). Additionally the eggs were supposed to have "peppers, onions and tomatoes" in them. The peppers were JALAPEÑOS! Loaded. Almost an inedible joke. And, they forgot to send the pupusa I ordered.... Again, very sad. Never again. I can't justify a second chance based on what they served. No pride in what they sent out tonight.

The lady at the register saw me taking pics of the menu and grabbed a paper menu to take with me. I will definitely stop by again and try some of their hot items.
