These are the best tacos around. I have traveled in Mexico quite a bit - these tacos are on par with the best you'll find anywhere. The menu is limited, which is a good sign. They specialize in tacos, and they do them very well, so why mess around with anything else. The restaurant was very clean. The owner was very friendly and explained the variety of taco choices. We had the pastor and carne asada. Amazing! Very flavorful. The tacos are small ($1.50 each) and come with onions and cilantro, just as they should. The salsa bar is something you don't see everywhere, and really takes the tacos to the next level. 5-6 different types of authentic salsas, made in house. They are all good and have some heat. Try the pickled onions, grilled onions and pinto beans. We had our young daughters with us. The owner, without us asking, turned on a cartoon on the tv for us as soon as we walked in. Very nice. Very friendly, quick service, and great food. As far as the ambiance, well, there isn't one, very basic. But for a one $ sign location you really can't ask for anything more than great service and food. We tried a variety of the tacos and everyone one delicious. My favorite was the cabeza, which is actually cheek meat. If you have never had cheek meat you are missing out! Super rich and tender. If this place could franchise it would be a hit. If you do keep me posted I would be willing to invest...:) It's that good. The food is simple and on point. He has proteins you cannot usually find north of the border: tongue(lengua) and homemade chorizo. But the most unique asset is the "salsa bar." A selection of creative salsa's better than most I've ever tasted and then lastly they offer a crock pot full of roasted jalapeños, peppers, and onions to top of the wonderful goodness of a classic street taco. Tacos El Machin features traditional mexican taco truck food but with the convenience of a sit down restaurant. Great tacos for sure! I had the pastor and pollo tacos both excellent but pastor was my favorite! In addition to the great food, the service was excellent. We were well informed of the ingredients for each type of taco, as well as the contents of all their spicy sauces of which there were many. What makes a perfect taco? It's not complicated - right? Meat, corn tortilla, a little onion... But if you've ever had any that were mediocre, you know that sometimes the simple can be toughest! They knock it out of the park. We had a group of 6 people and ate 32 tacos in total (a recipe for regret and happiness both). Chicken, cabeza, and (beef) lingua. All were fantastic; well seasoned and properly cooked. A little onion, a little cilantro, and the soft corn tortilla. The salsa bar was wonderful - even the hottest was not just heat but flavor, and each very distinctive and tasty. As a side note, don't shy away from the cabeza (beef cheek) or the lingua (beef tounge). Both are perfect and tasty! The cabeza is naturally a little oily, soft, very beefy, and wonderful. The lingua is light, yet packs a great flavor. It can be cooked oh so wrong - and this was just right. Staff were friendly and, yes, spoke English as well as any Oregonian. I have to agree with the good reviews on this place. I've been here several times and the food is great. They also have an excellent sauce bar with many many varieties of sauces for your food. Being originally from California, this is the best place for a burrito or taco, believe me!! Yeah the tacos are small but how they prepare the meat is tasty. The burritos are a good size. The tacos tasted like the tears of the Angels. I took one bite of my asada taco and was transported to a delicious realm of spicy meats seas with onion and cilantro sailboats. The pastor taco gave me an out of body experience. I watched from the roof as my friends and I ate these tacos and our souls ascended to heaven. This is one of the best Mexican restaurants i've ever been to. I always enjoy my time there. They have their delicious spices that are obviously separated by mild and hot. My favorite is habanero with specifically 2 chicken tacos and a bottle of coke with ice best combo EVER which was a recommendation from the owner Noe! WOW! As a native southern Californian, I am pleased to say that I have finally found a truly authentic Mexican taquaria/restaurant. The Food: I ordered asada tacos. Absolutely perfectly seasoned and marinated meat. Fresh cilantro and onion. Quality ingredients all around. Also the sauce bar, every single hot sauce is spicy deliciousness. The Service: Very friendly and polite. Lots of smiles to go around. Cleanliness: Immaculate and spotless. Nothing else to say about that, the bathroom was also one of the cleanest I've been to at a small taquaria. The Price: Here lies the only issue I have with the restaurant. No daily specials, and 2 dollars a taco! If they brought the price down, or introduced daily or even weakly specials, they'd have to bar the door to keep me out! Overall I highly recommend. I've been in repeatedly to try the various taco toppings. The bar of salsas deserves to be studied with care. Three tacos and a beer---$10---good value. I do think that over the years the meat prep has fallen off slightly. For example, the chorizo seems different, and is not fried as crisply. If you are willing to spend more money the kitchen does more elaborate dishes. The alambres are a successful menu entry and I like the quesadillas too. A carnivore's restaurant---no rice and beans. Service is FAST. Very basic decor, almost a dive, but as a middle-class Anglo I've never felt unwelcome or uncomfortable. Best Tacos I've had since moving to Oregon from California. This is not Taco Bell or a super taco from Jack In The Box. These are the real deal tacos served on two corn tortillas with meat, cilantro and onions. You get your salsa at the salsa bar and go eat. Every meat selection I have tried is very good.
