On a rainy Sunday, I found Tacos El Novillo in parking lot near High St & International Blvd in East Oakland. Service was nice, with a short wait for food. I ordered two tacos (Carnitas & Asada), and an order of Nachos (w/ Asada, Guac, and Monterey Jack Cheese). The tacos were okay. Nice presentation on a plate, with carrots, radlish, and peppers. But the meat on both tacos were chewy and dry. The Nachos were great, with a very generous amount of toppings. I asked for Monterey Jack Cheese and Extra Guac. No tables to sit and eat, so it's takeout. They give you salsa, napkins, and utensils. read more

Never any fat in my tacos or quesadilla and everything is amazing flavor and quality, and price! Always been super consistent and I love the peppers and carrots they give on the side. It's the best. It was cold as hell on this random weekday. There is a parking lot, but it only fits like 5 cars. There is also no where to sit, or stand and eat. So youre just getting these to go, unless you're eating at your car. Obviously this is international and high, so it's loud af while you're waiting for your food. Services was decent, neither friendly or unfriendly. Tacos are $3.50 a piece, which is pretty normal price wise. But the tacos were tiny. Asada was good. The carnitas, I'm guessing it's because we came at like 7:30pm. But it was so dry. Like. I needed that horchata because I was gonna choke. It had good flavor. But maybe I should come back earlier in the day and try. But also, the horchata, you could tell it was a mix. Grainy. A little watery. Overall, I wouldn't return on my own. But it someone asked me to go with them, I wouldn't say no. read more

Favorite truck right now. I recommend to a friend and she drives from Antioch for the food.. recently added nachos. Omg. Hearty portion size I alone could never finish entirely. The carnitas is my family's favorite. I personally feel like the Chorizo tacos are my absolute fave. The shrimp hell all of em. Do not get the Birria it is not Birria. The consume is caldo de rez with the grease from Birria. This was so greasy and tasted awful.

Hands down my favorite taco truck in Oakland!! The tacos are always a winner here. Good quality meat that is seasoned just right. Best taco truck in the Town I found this place with a friend at 2am I knew it had to be good because it still had people ordering at 2am, they really smack I have only got burritos and tacos and I can say they was both super good there green sauce is different it's the best I ever had I don't like how they be trying to gate keep it I would order a super burrito and they would put only 3 sauces up in the bag but if you ask them for more they give you more which is something I always got to do while there but the food overall 5 stars. read more

It's hard to stand out as a Taco Truck in what is probably the most saturated area of Mexican food options but Novillo just does it. Consistency is key! And the fact that I see repeat customers during my repeat visits let's me know that I'm not the only one who's a huge fan of Novillo. I stick mostly to the tacos and I always get a mix but the Pastor and Carnitas are standouts. And the Chicharrons are bomb too. I love that you can get a good amount of Radishes, Jalapeños and Carrots. Always get extra salsa and save it for your eggs if you don't use it all. **The Asada Fries are so good! My First time here yesterday and I got two steak burritos with everything! includes Sour cream and cheese For $20 which isn't that bad other places are about two dollars less ! My three-year-old and I are Novillo regulars. We come every Monday night and my son always screams hola and runs around like a crazy boy. I always get pastor tacos and he always gets a quesadilla with azada. They are very generous with the meat. When they messed up my order once, the next week they refused to charge me full price -- even after I insisted repeatedly, they handed my money right back to me! Great tacos, great people. read more
