Since Oaxaca, I've only had as good al pastor in Mexico City last year in a similar setting. So I'm super excited and grateful that Vallejo now has its own amazing popup serving these incredible tacos, and more. My husband is a burrito guy with a big appetite, yet the servings are so hearty he can only eat half in one sitting. And my al pastor tacos sent me back to that Oaxaca bus stop with adventures ahead. Sitting on a busy corner parking lot, this place is super popular so expect to wait, plus parking can be tricky. All said, the service is efficient and people are patient to wait for what they know is a good thing. While waiting you can bag up your own garnishes like pico, salsa, pickled peppers, sautéed or raw onions, and more. I saw some people enjoy their food in their cars, but both times we brought ours home since we live close and the packaging keeps everything together well. Truly the most authentic Mexican al pastor and more you'll find in Vallejo.

We gave it a shot because it was parked right inside the Fairgrounds for the Dinosaur Adventure event that went on last weekend. I should have yelped it first, but we went in blind, and now I regret it. We ordered 2 revuelta pupusas, the 3 taco plate, and the elote. First of all, their prices are insane. $7 for 1 pupusa? $15 for 3 tacos? $5 for elote kinda made sense but seriously, they didn't even execute that one right so still wasn't worth it. It seemed to be a one woman show, so I can excuse the wait time. Everyone knows pupusas can take about 15 min anyways so the wait didn't bother me. My elote was hot, but it barely had any cheese on it. All you could see was mayo, tajin, and a light sprinkle of cheese... I feel like the cheese is kinda what makes it so how are you gonna skimp on that. It was served on a plate, and then folded into foil so I guess that's nice but no. The cheese didn't just fall off on the plate, it just wasn't anywhere to be found :( The corn was sweet though, so I did enjoy it still but the elote mans would be ashamed to see how this one was served. The 3 taco plate only came with 1 salsa. Their mild is a green salsa that tasted like water. I had to ask for a spicy red one which just tasted like roasted pepper water/oil. I was not a fan. The chicken tacos were basically rotissierie chicken meat on a tortilla. No "asado" to be found anywhere. I'm an al pastor girly but this was the worst al pastor of my life. I didn't even finish it, it was that bad. The revueltas were the saving grace but even then.. they were mid. They were sooooo hot though, and had a decent amount of filling. The slaw paired with this was nice and tangy but again, the mild green salsa did nothing for the pupusa. I love when the cheese oozes out of pupusas and get all grilled up, nice and crispy. This pupusa wasn't giving all that lol It could have used a bit more salt/flavor but compared to everything else, it was good and the reason why I'm giving 2 stars. However, $7 for one pupusa is ridiculous. I understand inflation, but the food prices here do not match the food that is being served. The woman running the truck was nice though, so I do appreciate that and how hard she must be working if she's doing things alone. I just wouldn't ever come back.

I ordered a super carne asada burrito with everything and was not disappointed. This is the right sized burrito for $10. When I got it opened up, the first thing I noticed was that it was really hot to the touch, which means they grill it after they roll it and then wrap it up. My first bite was mostly beans and rice, which worried me a bit, but after a couple bites, I was into the good stuff. The carne asada, combined with crema and chili, had great, authentic Mexican flavor. My wife and I split it, and it was plenty for both of us. It came with some chips and a little cup of salsa that wasn't that tasty, but I appreciate them throwing in some chips. Definitely would hit this truck again. Service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere was parking lot with a view of interstate 80.

He had whole peach cobbler pies and mini and regular size white sweet potato pies. The mini pies were about 5 inch in diameter and came 4 to a pack for $40(cash), $45 for credit card/Apple Pay. The whole pies are the same price and is about 10/11 inch in diameter. We purchased the whole white sweet potato pie and just tried a slice and it is outstanding!! Like Patrick told us, their pies have little sugar added (it did not taste and/or have a sweet aftertaste) and the crust was amazing with a crisp crunch and tasted like it was caramelized BUT not sugary sweet! We highly recommend this pie and plan to order the peach cobbler pie this weekend! He can deliver (East bay) or ship to you.
