The Birria tacos were delicious as well as the pastor. The steak was very good, but surprisingly not the star. The tacos were stuffed with meat, so they definitely don't skimp on sides. The free sides that come with more than '2 taco purchase' were all fantastic. Great caramelized onions, the cactus was cooked just about perfectly too. There should be a very long line waiting to get in to this place. Seriously, it's just that good! We had the Birria tacos, beans, carnitas torta and flan. ALL were delicious! We have been coming to Tacos El Patron & have only had a couple of times where I wouldn't have awarded a 5-star review. Last night was one of those less than 5-star nights. We ordered birria torta at the same time as our drinks were ordered and drinks were served 15 minutes later. We added tacos so we waited approximately 25 minutes when everything came out to the table together. Delicious food and good drinks. Their Birria was perfectly cooked and seasoned. It's a very clean restaurant and nice atmosphere. Our waitress was nice but I felt like we were put on the back burner when a small group of "regulars" walked in. We had been seated and patiently waiting to order drinks but when they walked in, both waitresses immediately went to their table to take their orders. Just be aware that they charge 2.2% credit card processing fee and also if you like select 15% or 18% tip the amount you pay for the tip is the total amount of your bill after adding tax and the 2.2% credit card processing fee. The tip amount should be based off of the pre-tax amount according to accounting rules. So if you plan on leaving 15% tip then you really need to leave a 12% tip and that will do it. read more

Horrible awful customer service. Me and my friend walked in and since we live further away we wanted to try a decent amount of menu items. I ordered one burrito, one taco, and birria ramen. When I was placing my order with the server she cut me off and asked if all of it was for me because it was a lot. I told her yes and since i've never been here i want to try things and will take some stuff leftover home at the end of our meal. For the rest of the time we were there (at least one hour) she did not check in on us once. We got no refills on our water, we wanted to order a cocktail but she never even came to check the order. She would check on the table behind and around us but never us and i don't understand why? We were out of sauce quickly and had nothing for the rest of our meal. Finally my friend calls her over and I asked for to go boxes for my food which she then brings me later. I also ended up asking her for the check since she was not at all interacting with us or refilling our water. The entire time she is by our table she is giving us nasty looks. We both tipped unfortunately because it felt rude not to although she had been rude to us the entire time. I asked her for a plastic bag for my leftover foods since it was in two containers and we had a long drive. She goes and stays in the back for five minutes and she walks back in with no plastic bag. My friend asked to go get the bag and she finally does and we leave. AWFUL service and the food was only decent. Absolutely never coming back here I have never had such a horrible experience read more

So if you're tired at eating overpriced fast food restaurants and overpriced/underwhelming franchised taco places, this IS the place for you. I'd argue it's one of the best Taco Restaurants in the Northern Region of Houston and possibly even all of Houston. The handmade tortillas along with the love and care into reminds you of why food is so good. For the carne asada, el pastor, and birria tacos the simple yet perfect craftsmanship of the tacos will always leave you wanting more.
