Only place that was open on Sunday night that could satisfy my taco craving. Tacos were nice and hot and came out fast. The salsa bar was clean and everything was filled. I ask for four cups of tomatillo salsa on the side; it comes with four cups of tomatillo salsa. I ask for cilantro and cebolla on the side; lo and behold, I get a bag of cilantro and cebolla on the side. Get the picture? I'm in Lompoc for 2 weeks for work and I stop by at this place for a burrito and it was very tasty. Great customer service and the cook went as far as to make my burrito very spicy like the way I like to eat my food. I highly recommend this place. The cashier lady is extremely friendly. If I could give 0 stars I would. We were staying in town and this restaurant came highly recommended by a local friend. We were so excited to try it especially after a long day of driving and we ordered online. It said our order would be ready at 8:01pm. The restaurant closes at 9pm. My husband went to pick up the food at 8pm and the doors were locked and they were mopping. He was trying to explain what was happening and all they said was that they were closed. We checked our account and the money had been taken out! They would not even come to the door so that my husband could explain. Not quite sure why they accepted the order of they closed early. When I first tried it way back in 2014, the tacos were the best and less expensive. 5 years later, the first restaurant I told my husband I'd like to eat was this. It hurts my heart to type this review, but I have been coming here for years and never had an issue, their food is great. But I have to say this last time I went it was very very disappointing. The gentleman that took my order was mumbling the whole time which resulted in getting my entire order wrong. I didn't mind going back since they never really make mistakes but when I called to let them know the owners wife got very defensive and refused to accept the mistake her employee made and did not want to fix my order. I'm unsure if there is a new system in place for this business or the new employees are causing too many mistakes, but they have lost a life long customer. I will also advise friends, families and colleagues to avoid this establishment as the situation was not handled well. read more

Slow service when understaffed during lunch rush. Took an hour to get our menudo, and pazolé and they lacked flavor. I love their alambre tacos. Here for Taco Tuesday, Al Pastor tacos for a dollar. Asada and other typical tacos are $1.75 but the size of the tacos are big so it is worth it. Excellent salsa bar, get the green spicy one. Bean and chips idea is awesome. Small serving of chips though if you brought a family, ask for 2 of the chip bowls. Other than that I will be happily sitting on the toilet bowl later. read more

This is a taco place, and a very good one at that. They have a few other things, but their best thing is tacos and their sopes. What we still can't figure out is why anyone would go to Taco Bell when they can come here? The food is fresh. The salsa bar is decent. You get free bean dip with a few little chips. It doesn't always come before the food there. I always add some spicy salsa for extra flavor. I only go here for basics, and a little al pastor, so I have no complaints, I just basically prefer other places more. It might be worth trying some of their other things like the 7 Mares. Service is decent. It does not measure up to places like Los Agaves, but you have to rate each restaurant for what it is. I wish there were more stars for the really top places. Also, I enjoy the bright paint colors. It totally reminds me of Mexico. And it's typically quite clean. read more

The food is great and I love it here. Food comes with beans and chips. And the salsas are spicy and delicious! Especially the green one, love it! The fried quesadillas with chicken and pastor tacos are my go-to. The tortas are also very tasty and the bread is always soft and warm. The chicken enchiladas are good too and they taste the most similar to homemade enchiladas that I've had anywhere else. DO NOT GO HERE!!! By far the worst place I have went to here in lompoc, do not go here. Spent $40 on just two burrito, mad at myself for not walking away. Will never go or refer this place to anyone! The wet burrito I got tastes like they just put tomato sauce on top of my burrito. I asked for pastor and I was told they did not have anymore for the day and then the next person in line ordered pastor and they cooked it for them. I love their salsa bar! the green one is my favorite and is the spiciest also. After you order and choose your seat they take you nice warm beans and chips to dip which is great. I recommend the tacos, carnitas sopes, enchiladas, burro mojado, and tortas. They usually don't take too long to give you your food. read more

Nice little place next to Comcast. Has a great idea of a help yourself buffet style of salsas, cilantro etc. I found their salsas too spicy for my taste. But at least they offered lime wedges, diced onions and cilantro. They give you chips and bean dip once your meal is served and that is delicious! read more

I went to Tacos El Tizon only when the other higher rated spots either weren't open (Floriano's) closed on Mondays after 2pm, and Angela's didn't look too inviting... no one in restaurant during dinner time. I stopped in to grab some tacos Al Pastor. At $1.99 each, I expected them to be on the smaller side, so I ordered six. I was pleasantly surprised to see handmade tortillas full of meat, along with a slice of pineapple in each one. You add your own sides and salsa. The Meat was juicy and flavorful. I love this place and make a point of stopping here when in town. It's not fancy, but a good value for the price. Unlike many Mexican places, they serve a wide-variety of meats that your average Americanized chain restaurant doesn't serve. Last time I visited, they had Cabeza (Beef cheek meat), Lengua (Tongue), Tripa (Tripe), and even Sesos (Brains). You have to really search in order to find some of these meats at a Mexican joint. Of course, they also have the standard staples like Carne Asada, Chicken, Burritos, and others Americans are used to eating. These items are as good, if not better than the chain restaurants. The Salsa bar has good selection. However, the unique menu items are what draws me to this place. Hopefully these guys stay in business and continue to sell both the normal staples as well as the less-common cuts of meat to customers. read more

Staying overnight in Lompoc and searching for a place to eat. I saw Tacos El Tizon. I am so glad that I tried this place. There were a lot of options. My kid got the breakfast burrito which comes with your choice of meat, eggs, cheese, and potatoes. I didn't think I would like it, but it was delicious. It also comes with a side of chips. I got a shrimp plate and it was cooked to perfection. I am usually not a fan of refried beans, but these were delicious. The flavors were on point. The portions were generous. At other Mexican restaurants, I never get as much shrimp as I did there. We got it to go, but the place has some indoor seating. I bet that there are nights when it gets too crowded to eat there. Even though the state hasn't opened up all of the Covid restrictions, the 25% capacity was already taken. As I was sitting waiting for my order, many regulars came in with their orders. You could tell they were regulars because they didn't even look at the menu, they just came in and ordered and knew straight away what they wanted. I have been craving Mexican ever since I ate there. Strictly based on tacos, this is my favorite place in Lompoc. I especially like how their pastor tacos come with a small piece of pineapple. I personally think it enhances the overall flavor of the taco when topped with onion/cilantro/salsa. So many different flavors that blend together in every bite. Their self serve salsa/condiment bar is great as well. If you like spicy, their smooth green sauce is the one to get! They all taste great but my personal favorites are the salsa molcajete, and green sauce. They have Jamaica(my favorite) and Horchata, as well as other fountain drinks/sodas available. read more
