Once again we ordered to go. We were at the restaurant within 8-10 minutes to pick up our orders. We ordered cheese enchilada dinners, and as usual the cheese wasn't melted, just thrown on a tortilla, rolled up and put in the to go plate. The sauce wasn't even warm it was lukewarm, the rice and beans were cold! We usually go to Burrito Lalo because I'm so tiered of getting bad food from here, but I thought let's give it one more try. My problem was that we attempted to use a tecently- purchased gift card to pay for part of the meal and they said we couldn't, something about not being able to put it into the cash register. We have been long time customers and were happy to try something new. I had their Cabo Shrimp Tacos (you get three). Since this is a stand-alone dish, I also ordered a side of rice & beans. I went there today with my granddaughter. There was one one occupied table outside where we sat and one occupied inside. The server brought out drinks then disappeared inside.v we could see the employees talking. I went inside and asked if we could order. The guy server came out & took our order and then our food came out in ok time. But after delivering our food they disappeared again. Never refilled our drinks or asked how things were. She unslly came and asked how it was when we were done. We asked for Togo containers and a bag. She brought the containers and our bill and disappeared again. I finally went inside to pay my bill and get a bag. I told the guy who took our money that I felt we were ignored. I was pleasantly surprised. For years I have ordered their lunch specials with the crunchy tacos. They were ok. But then we tried something newer on the menu. I ordered the Azteca tacos and my wife ordered some Shrimp tacos. They were so tasty. The Axteca tacos were smoky and spicy with flavored beef and even some beans. I ordered a "steak" burrito at this high-ranked Mexican Restaurant in the community. It cost me $15.08. I was looking forward to it. Upon eating the "steak" burrito, the steak was so tough, it was like it had rubber parts within the meat. If this is what you consider a "steak" burrito, then I am not sure where they're purchasing their meat. It was horrible for the price, and I was so disappointed. The meat is always tender and juicy and they're known for their carnitas! Searching for a somewhat decent meal in these parts isn't easy, unless you're into fast food chains. Happened upon this Mexican restaurant tucked away in the corner of a strip mall by checking Google maps, and glad I did. Family owned the service was very cordial, efficient and followed all Covid protocol, which also somewhat lacks in these parts. Ate outside comfortably on the patio and it was quite nice. They also had a banner honoring first responders and essential workers. Nice. The chips and salsa were fresh and delicious! I ordered a deluxe Burrito Mexicano with beef, and it was humungous. I don't come to this restaurant that often, I feel there's better Mexican options in Santa Maria, but when I do I always seem to get not to good service. The floor staff has always been a little rude when I'm there. Maybe it's just an off day, but the usual" friendliness" you expect when walking into a restaurant sometimes I wouldn't get here. I'm a finger food type guy. I normally order Taquitos , flautas, tacos dorados (crunchy tacos) etc .. and almost every time I get those from here they always seem really soggy. That could be due to a few different things, but still the whole point is to be crunchy. The plates that the other people are ordering in there do look delicious, and I'm sure if I tried different options on the menu it would be very good. But the times I've been in there, ordering the things I order, have left me a little unsatisfied. There's going to be a lot of people that love this place, and are happy with the food. And the restaurant deserves that. But my personal experience have always left me wanting more. The food is fine, but the male server was dismissive and rude. I walked in alone and the hostess said, "he will be right with you." after she got me my drink. He didn't come over. He sat down with another male employee. Then, a family of 5- 3 small children with mom and dad came in. He went over and took their order... I'm still waiting. Saw this place on doordash and thought it'd give it a try. I had the al pastor, asada, carnitas and grilled chicken tacos. All very juicy, filling and delicious. Salsa could be spicier but a small detail when the tacos were so good. You honestly probably only need 2 but I wanted to try different meats. Definitely pricier than other places but I though it was well worth it. Torta maya- basically a meat lovers torta with some beans, avocado and tomatoes. There was supposed to be mayo but I didn't taste it. It was a good torta but not the best I've had. There's too much bread for the amount of filling you get. I think filling is a good amount just the bread is a lot more. Bites eat a little dry which is where the mayo would help. Otherwise a solid torta. I'm definitely trying more of their food, and looking forward to their more traditional dishes. read more

The "new" manager, I'm not sure what his name was since he wasn't wearing a name tag, would not accommodate to my family and I as we ordered our food. We wanted the dozen tacos family pack but was denied multiple times because this new manager did not want to accommodate us even though we offered to pay extra to upgrade our food. The family deal usually only allows beef and chicken, but we've ordered the Azteca tacos before as a family deal in the past and paid the difference to make up for the price of better quality tacos but for some reason this "manager" denied us. He was not friendly about it either. When it comes to quality foods I will pay the price, but the moment you choose not to accommodate, you lost me. I used to work in the food business and although the customer may not actually always be right, you make it right. This is not making things right. Big portions! We went on our way from Santa Maria to Lompoc. My dad ordered the Enchiladas Suizas. It was 3 enchiladas, beans and rice. I ordered the Camarones a la Diabla. Portions were HUGE! My dad managed to finish all his enchiladas and most of the beans and rice. I finished half the camarones, the salad, beans and rice. I took the rest of the camarones and tortillas home for later. The food was tasty. The salsa was nice. I think it's made in-house. The beans for the enchiladas came in a tortilla bowl. While that's a nice presentation, my dad is allergic to wheat, not so much that he couldn't eat it. But had my sister-in-law been there, as a coeliac, she couldn't have eaten the beans. Wow, my husband and I ordered a chicken protein bowl to go for $19 and it only had 4 very small and thin pieces of chicken and a few beans with a whole lot of lettuce and chips.
