a taco stand in a mexican restaurant

The gentleman working behind the counter is really kind. Unfortunately, the food was not good. $40 for two plates worth of food ended up in the trash. The customer service is great! I enjoyed my rice and beans.

This place was delicious! I got 3 al pastor tacos and they came out great, I'll definitely be coming back here. The people working here were nice and the tables were clean.

Holy crap. I ordered from here, and they cancelled my order after an hour, completely making me miss my lunch break. I reordered. Once again they cancelled my order after 45 minutes. Confirmed both times by DoorDash that it was the restaurant who cancelled. I have never experienced customer service this atrocious before!

Good food. Good quality meat. I ordered the 3 asada t and 2 al pastor tacos. They were really good. Comes with a bowl of soup and the soup reminds me of what soup my mom use to give me when I was little. If I'm in the area, I will definitely come back! Cheers

Great food, fresh meat. Small place good service and nice people. Would recommend to anyone in the area to try.

Had their menudo, horchata and 1 taco al pastor. Not one item disappointed. The menudo was hearty hot and meaty. The horchata was some of the best I have ever had. And the taco al pastor meat was tender and had great taste. These are "street" tacos so order accordingly. Coming back for more.

What a great find for a hole in the wall. This is one of those places you question whether you are at a good spot, until you walk in the door. I went here with a co-worker and as soon as we crossed the threshold of no turning back, aka entering the establishment, well several things dawned on me; 1 this is a total blue collar joint, 2 they had a lot of latinos here and only one non latino, 3 this place just felt like a taco shop, you can feel it in your bones sometimes (know what I mean?) So my buddy gets the taco special (rice n beans +3 tacos for $4.99) and I got 3 tacos for $4.25 (included tax his did not). So we go grab a seat and they bring us a small basket of tortilla chips and salsa. Tasty chips and the salsa is fresh. Pro Tip: They have a jukebox playing decent tunes. Tacos Garcia advertises themselves as a great place for Al Pastor, infact they even call themselves the BEST! They have a reasonable argument to. The Al Pastor was very very good. If it wasn't for the Al Pastor being excellent, it would be a 3-4 star kinda place. The Asada was reasonable, the chorizo was fair, and my coworker really enjoyed his carnitas. However I think the star of the show had to be by far the Al Pastor. Pro Tip #2: They will cater freshly made Al Pastor! This place has a great environment and definitely has a strong lunch crowd come in here. I highly suggest the next time you are on the hunt for some good Al Pastor, that you come try this place out! PS Pro Tip: They have a student w/ID discount!

AWet asada burrito, no rice, extra meat. Excellent!

Start cleaning out underneath your table pushing you out as fast as they can. The bar just closes down not even announcing a last call. And what is with those awful margaritas. I can't believe that a Michelin feathered Mexican restaurant can serve such awful margaritas. And I am not alone as I mentioned it to another Restaurant crowd and they agreed and said they were probably the worst margaritas in Orange. I don't know whether it's the mix or the amount of alcohol or what it is but they come out watery and really sour. A totally good dining experience has to encompass everything, food is only 50% of the deal the other 50% is service with a smile, and this one lacks it. Now there could be a reason for this epic shutdown at 9 PM. But I wonder what it is? Santa Monica seafood in Santa Monica on Wilshire Boulevard has to have last orders in by 8:30 because if they are not closed out by 10 o'clock entirely, the neighbors complain that they are putting out trash and making a noise after 10 so that I understand. But it took me a year to find that out from the owners. Restaurant owners are so stuck up and anal, I know I was one. Gabbi, whom I have never seen, should spend a night or two watching her Restaurant closing up.

I just call it food cause that's what I eat for breakfast lunch and dinner so when I'm telling you that this place has some really good food trust me you want to come out and try it. Everything they have on the menu is bomb as fuck. Their drinks are bomb. The service is bomb. That's the reason I keep coming back all the way from the inland Empire to Orange to eat their food this is one of my favorite spots to come and join the rest of my family. The beans did not taste watered down, and the enchiladas themselves were flavorful. I always worry about shrimp overpowering the sides of a dish but it tasted great. The rice was also really filling. We had a reservation and they seated us at a pretty big table, which I liked. The servers were very timely, kind, and knowledgeable about each dish on the menu and the rotating specials. The inside of the restaurant was HUGE. I'm pretty sure it was built inside of a church. I really liked the stained glass and elevated seating areas nearby, it reminded me of the Old Spaghetti Factory layout in Fullerton. Overall, I had a very positive experience. I had to get a Diet Coke and of course, it was crisp to my expectations. A little heads-up, unlike the Costa Mesa location, they do not have horchata. Nevertheless, I'd come here again to try their burritos, tostadas, and salads!

But once again one has this perfunctory service, that is service that is merely to get through a night and not to enhance a dining experience. So many restaurants now seem to have the same problem, that is servers who just want to get through the evening and get it over with. The service industry has really taken a dive since my day. I don't get it. Don't they get paid more than they used to just a year or two ago. Anyway, I do enjoy the Camerones. But, the dreadful flan that I was served. This is such a basic desert and very easy to make, but one can overcook the egg proteins easily and the whole thing is grainy, scrambled and not pleasant to eat. Basically it should be cooked in a Bain Marie. Probably a lost art. Avila's has several locations and one may differ from another. The one I ate at is in Orange.

The carnitas themselves are the star--tender, juicy pork that's been slow-cooked to perfection with that signature crispy edge on some pieces, delivering rich, savory flavor without being overly greasy. It's seasoned just right, with a nice balance of porky goodness and subtle spices that let the meat shine. Wrapped in a large, fresh flour tortilla (they make their own in-house, which always helps), it's stuffed generously with the classics: fluffy Mexican rice, creamy refried or whole beans (depending on your preference, but both work great), chopped onions, cilantro, and a solid dose of salsa. I went with their green salsa for a bright, tangy kick that cuts through the richness perfectly, plus a dollop of sour cream and cheese for that creamy melt. No skimping on portions here--it's hearty and filling, easily a meal that satisfies for hours. At around $10 (give or take, based on current pricing), it's a great value in the area. The burrito holds together well without falling apart mid-bite, and the overall balance of textures--tender meat, soft rice/beans, crisp onions--makes every mouthful enjoyable. If you're in the mood for classic carnitas done right in a casual, bakery-taqueria spot with great salsas and a friendly vibe, this one's definitely worth grabbing. I'd rate it 4.5 out of 5--only docking half a point because it's not reinventing the wheel, but it's executing the traditional style exceptionally well. Highly recommend if you're near 728 N Tustin St in Orange! Pair it with an horchata, yum
