Out came, first of all, a bowl of free hot soup (basically a flavorful tomato soup with macaroni) - a nice little surprise! Then came the free chips and salsa, crunchy and good. And then came the huge plate of food, with the taco on a separate plate! It was almost too much food, but I managed because the excellent flavors were all there. Tiny place with a few tables and chairs inside (they seemed to do a lot of takeout while I was there), next door to a bustling bodega (pro tip: lots of great homemade salsas to take home at the bodega!). What a great find for a hole in the wall. This is one of those places you question whether you are at a good spot, until you walk in the door. I went here with a co-worker and as soon as we crossed the threshold of no turning back, aka entering the establishment, well several things dawned on me; 1 this is a total blue collar joint, 2 they had a lot of latinos here and only one non latino, 3 this place just felt like a taco shop, you can feel it in your bones sometimes (know what I mean?) So my buddy gets the taco special (rice n beans +3 tacos for $4.99) and I got 3 tacos for $4.25 (included tax his did not). So we go grab a seat and they bring us a small basket of tortilla chips and salsa. Tasty chips and the salsa is fresh. Pro Tip: They have a jukebox playing decent tunes. Tacos Garcia advertises themselves as a great place for Al Pastor, infact they even call themselves the BEST! They have a reasonable argument to. The Al Pastor was very very good. If it wasn't for the Al Pastor being excellent, it would be a 3-4 star kinda place. The Asada was reasonable, the chorizo was fair, and my coworker really enjoyed his carnitas. However I think the star of the show had to be by far the Al Pastor. Pro Tip #2: They will cater freshly made Al Pastor! My Torta Cubana looked innocent enough, but the first few bites seemed off. I thought it was from the weird clearish salsa, but not sure. I was starved and ate it all. Hope it wasn't spoiled. Had an order of the huevos rancheros and got the kids a bacon breakfast burrito. Nothing stands out with the huevos rancheros but it tasted as I expected it would and filled my belly! The last time I went was before Covid but it's a pretty good place to eat I've had ordered almost everything in the menu.

I give Tacos Garcia 5 stars for so many reasons. Number one being they really have great customer service and that is really hard to find these days. The lady at the front always greets everyone who comes in and makes you feel welcome. The turnaround time from placing the order to receiving it is also pretty quick. Sometimes they even throw in a small soup with your order. It's the little things that count! The food is delicious. There carne asada meat is not fatty and the tacos come out perfect. Not overally topped. Very traditional with onions and cilantro only. Their homemade tortillas are AMAZING! If you haven't tried them be sure to request the ones that are homemade because they come out warm and fresh. Chips and salsa on the side when you eat in are great too. Salsa has the right amount of kick but not too spicy. Also, my coworker comes in just for the the horchata. She has tried horchata all over orange county and this one makes the cut. read more
