So that made up for the spotty service, just a little bit. Since I'm closer to the other Casa Mendoza in Palm Desert, I'd go there in the future with my wife, and order the exact same thing. But hope for much better service and warmer food.

We had their lengua, cabeza, al pastor and carne asada tacos. Additionally, we purchased a bean and cheese burrito and partook in their uber delicious lemon fried jalapenos. Everything tasted good to terrific. We liked the lengua and cabeza better than the al pastor which was a little bland and not "chard" enough. The carne asada which was seasoned fine but had enough bits of cartilage to kind of take notice. A slight shortcoming was the amount of meat on each taco. Just a little on the shy side. The bean and cheese burrito was a bit of a trick to handle considering how floppy the combination was in this case. But once I finally succumbed to plating the thing and just eat it with a fork did I discover the amazing beans inside it. These were some of the best beans I've had in a Mexican joint. The salsas didn't really impress me all that much. We really only had interest in their "hottest" of the three but that disappointed me a bit. It was a little watery and didn't provide the kick I like. The "salsa for chips" shared my complaint about being a touch to watery/runny but was ok I guess. Tomatio salsa was bland to me. They were served in small mini ceramic cups. Speaking of chips, we got a paltry half basket of chips. There were 4 us, 2A 2K and we each maybe had 7 chips? Kinda weird. Service was excellent. Table service, customer acknowledgment, cheerfullness is a welcome addition. Kudos to the folks. The restaurant was clean and tidy. I noticed the grill hoods looked well maintained as well. Their is an ATM on site to help with the cash only method of payment. While not entirely convenient it is cool that an enterprise does its business without paying out to the industry of plastic. I had a fantastic experience at Tacos Gonzalez in Indian Wells and just had to leave a review. This cozy little gem radiates a welcoming and homey vibe. The owners were the sweetest people, and their warm hospitality added an extra layer of charm to the meal. Throughout our visit, they were incredibly attentive, making sure we were comfortable and content. It was evident that they genuinely cared about the feedback for their restaurant, and the quality and taste of the food. As for the food, I ordered the chicken fajitas, and I was blown away. The meat was tender, moist, and bursting with flavor. The beans were delicious, and the rice? It took me right back to my grandma's kitchen. I have eaten here twice now and I have to say they have the best tacos in the valley. They are small size double tortilla classic style with onions and cilantro only. Three types of salsa, mild green, red which is spicy and pico de gallo. I had 6 tacos, 2 asada, 2 tripa, 2 lengue, they were all delicious. I hate when places try to do to much like add lettuce or cheese thinking it enhances the flavor. How about NOT! Its a very small family owned business I wouldn't bring a large party here because I believe it only sits about 25 people and I'm being nice. When talking to the owner I was told they offer catering. We ended up getting a large guacamole and after finishing our first serving of chips, the waitress sneakingly asked if we wanted more chips and of course we said yes. We ended up getting charged $3 for chips at the end. Our fault for not verifying first. The service is fast and they are very accommodating. Chairs were already flipped, and it was clear they weren't interested in serving anyone else. Also, very very skimpy on the cheese, I couldn't even find it. The beans were very clumpy refried beans, I'm not entirely sure if they're canned or yesterday's beans half reheated. Ultimately, for $9 it was adequate and for a hearty meal I would recommend it, just don't go in expecting anything ground breaking. I will return for the tamale bowl soon.

Pastor one the meat was way too hard. Couldn't eat most of it. And super salty. I did like the sincronizada with lengua which is a small quesadilla with tongue. The guacamole lacked flavor and super small for $3. Too many pieces of big onion and hard part of the cilantro and inedible tomato. So most went to waste and I had to add the salt and lime on the guac. Otherwise I would go back for the birria and lengua.
