I was in Indio for the Date festival and was looking for some good food. I found Taco Gonzalez on Yelp and went on a Thursday evening. Mr and Mrs Gonzalez were friendly, personable, charming, and just overall great. Service was top notch and the food was delicious. We then returned on Friday afternoon for more delicious food. We had their lengua, cabeza, al pastor and carne asada tacos. Additionally, we purchased a bean and cheese burrito and partook in their uber delicious lemon fried jalapenos. Everything tasted good to terrific. We liked the lengua and cabeza better than the al pastor which was a little bland and not "chard" enough. The carne asada was seasoned fine but they had enough bits of cartilage to kind of take notice. A slight shortcoming was the amount of meat on each taco. Just a little on the shy side. The bean and cheese burrito was a bit of a trick to handle considering how floppy the combination was in this case. But once I finally succumbed to plating the thing and just eat it with a fork did I discover the amazing beans inside. These were some of the best beans I've had in my memory. Outstanding. The salsas didn't really impress me all that much. We really only had interest in their "hottest" of the three but that disappointed me a bit. It was a little watery and didn't provide the kick I like. The "salsa for chips" shared my complaint about being a touch to watery/runny but was ok I guess. Tomatio salsa was bland to me. They were served in mini ceramic cups that were too small or only half filled whichever your thought might be . Speaking of chips, we got a paltry half basket of chips. There were 4 us, 2A 2K and we each maybe had 7 chips? Kinda weird. Service however was excellent. Table service, customer acknowledgment, cheerfullness is a welcome addition. English is spoken. Kudos to the folks. The restaurant was clean and tidy. I noticed the grill hoods/lights looked well maintained and clean as well. There is an ATM on site to help with the "cash only" method of payment. While not entirely convenient it is cool that an enterprise does its business without paying out to the industry of plastic. Local joint on a busy intersection. Carne Asada burritos were large and filling. A bit heavy on the rice, but tasty nonetheless. I always stop here for tacos when I'm in from out of town. The Tacos are awesome, I have never got anything else. Pollo Asada, Carne Asada and Chorizo are my favorites. They have a pretty limited menu which is cool and the place is rather small so plan to wait if you have more then a few people. Its a standard order at the counter and sit down or I think if you just sit at a table someone will also come and take your order. It'll steer you wrong; no, literally it will steer you to the total opposite end of industrial Indio, where I was expecting to run into Rudy Giuliani giving a press conference. Misdirection aside, BEST TACOS, QUESADILLAS, CHIPS, SALSA EVER! And the flan was pretty good, too: creamy and custardy. Totes worth getting lost, and now we know where it is for future cravings! We choose this restaurant based on reviews but were very disappointed. The tacos were not very flavorful and dry. My chorizo taco tasted so bad I had to spit it out, the meat didn't taste right at all! They charge $1.50 for barely any chips but the guacamole was good. My husband had gone before and had the torta, he was disappointed with the taste of the meat and the fact that they don't use a real piece of good sized meat, they use the same small bits as the tacos. He too said he didn't like the restaurant, but he only told me that after I told him about my experience. I asked him why he sent me there and he said because my son likes the fries in the burrito. Glad my son liked it but I felt it was a waste of money. The service was nice but not someplace we'd visit again. read more

Definitely the best price food I've seen! Ordered on Postmates and you know it's always more pricey, but we got a burrito, quesadilla, fries, 2 tacos, and it was 30$ with tip! (Quesadilla was the only thing that wasn't delicious) but it was still ok! Everything else was so good! Will get more food from here. They also gave an entire bag of salsas, limes, and radish. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean and it is small enough that it feels like you're at a friends' house without feeling too cramped. The tacos here are delicious and they're pretty generous with their protein portions. Can't beat tacos for under $2 each! What they don't tell you is that chips cost $1.50 each. When you sit down they'll ask you if you want chips and salsa. At most places it's free, but not here! We ended up getting a large guacamole and after finishing our first serving of chips, the waitress sneakingly asked if we wanted more chips and of course we said yes. I have been going to this restaurant since they opened 15 years ago. It is a family owned business. Everybody works hard. They have the best Carne Asada tacos I've ever had in my life and the restaurant is immaculate. It is always spotless. I winter here and it is the first place I eat when I come to the desert, it is extremely consistent. The food is always excellent. Try the crispy Carne Asada taco as well as the street tacos or the burritos are phenomenal. I just love the place and so does my wife. read more

Best guacamole. And those tacos (all of them, never had a bad taco there) are delicious and fresh. A small, clean, no frills cafe style place with a very simple placemat style menu. So not a huge selection of dishes but what they serve, they serve well. I am guessing its family run. I think their service is terrific because they take pride in their work and their business has got their name on it. We usually order to go, there isn't much seating. They are always busy and usually closed during the holidays (call ahead). La Quinta, Ca. Great Mexican style tacos. They are small but then they're only two bucks. My favorite is the al pastor, lots of flavor. Sauce on the side has plenty of fire if you need. Chips are tasty and not greasy. Good selection of beers. If you come in and sit, a waitress will come to your table, it's not an order and then sit kind of place that I assumed. I thought I found the perfect taco shop, but after eating there, I think it is just ok. I had a carne asada burrito and two tacos. The tacos were small even for street tacos and at $2 each, they seemed a bit pricey. They look amazing but weren't anything special in taste. Same thing with the carne asada burrito.
