Three salsas to start off? Yes, please! They're all small portions so perfect for sampling and mixing. Then we ordered chili cheese queso. I grew up the South. We only had red chili. It still throws me off when something labeled "chili" arrives and it's green chili. Do I mind it? Not at all! Pork green chili queso. Order it. It's delicious. I never end up wanting the rice and beans that come with all meals at Mexican restaurants so I got a couple a la carte options. Two chicken enchiladas and a shredded beef taco. Lots of chicken and tons of delicious red sauce on top of the enchiladas. The taco was perfectly crispy. The boyfriend got the all beef combo: 1 taco, 1 burrito, 1 enchilada. The burritos come topped with green chili. I was jealous. We went on a Saturday night but it was kind of early so not too busy. Our server was fun and joked around a bit. Hadn't been here in YEARS and thought we'd give it a try. Way back when we went on the recommendation of a friend and it just didn't match our expecations. After going back in, not sure if we ordered wrong at the time, got them on a bad day, or they've just gotten way better, but this time was very, very good. Service was excellent. I like that they serve their chips with three kinds of salsa including a very tasty arbol which is one of my favorites. I got a couple of adovada tacos which were absolutely perfect and delicious; and we both got the posole which was perfect for the cold night. The broth was spot on, I wanted to take a bath in it!!! Stopping short of 5 stars simply because the pork in the posole was a little fatty. We will absolutely be back for more tacos!!! read more

ATROCIOUS service, horrible management, and subpar food. Only eat here if you want to be robbed/over charged and be threatened to have the police called on you. Check their FB reviews, it's not the first time either. Details below. I came in for lunch and ordered the chicken fajitas. They are $13 as are the beef - so I asked my server they could do half and half. He said sure. When my food arrived I was surprised to see the fajitas weren't grilled (they are listed as grilled on the menu), they were pan fried, and the meat was old. It was very dry and low quality meat (and I'm not a picky meat eater.). I didn't say anything and had one taco with them, but being hard and dry, I avoided them and stuck to the veggies. When I got my bill, I was surprised they charged me for the shrimp mixed fajitas (with chicken and beef) - $18. I asked my server and he said sorry, that's how we have to do it when you get more than one meat. I said 'but that's not what I ordered ... I said half/half, since chicken and beef are the same price'. He went to talk to his manager and said that was the price. I then told him I was also unhappy with the quality of the meat -- he could see I left the entire plate at my table -- and he said "You should have brought that up earlier". Really? I wasn't out to complain, but when they charge me more for a dish I didn't order, something that was inedible, yes, I'm going to also bring that up. He went back to the manager 3 times -- who refused to come out and speak to me. When she finally came out I told her I would not pay for something I didn't order.... her response? She threatened to take down my license plate number + call the police if I didn't pay for the mixed shrimp fajitas platter THAT I DIDN'T ORDER (!!!). Are you fing kidding me?!? You over charge me, serve me old, ratty meat that was inaccurately described on your menu and you're going to threaten me? She was a massive 'see you next Tuesday' if you know what I mean. Oh my gosh! What a find. And only tried because of my fellow Yelpers. From beginning to end everything was perfect. The margaritas were great, the food amazing, very clean and got sat at a table really fast, the server was so friendly. And bonus! When I did my check in on Yelp I received a surprise five dollars off for being my first visit. Loved the salsas and guacamole they brought with the chips. Will definitely be back. This is a great restaurant if you are male! You can come in and order and get your food and everything. This is a great restaurant if you are female and either anorexic, on a diet restricted to water only, hate eating, or are dead. You can come in and order too. But if there isn't a man at your table, you won't be served. Until every man in the restaurant is. Now, I know I'm being unfair. Tacos require advanced expertise and a great deal of time to prepare. It's totally my fault for not calling the TACO restaurant 2 hours ahead of time to warn them that I would be ordering tacos. Really, the fact that when they brought my food 50 minutes later (the restaurant was only 1/3 filled) and gave it to a man at another table, then tried to give it to me, really, that's all my fault. The absolute closest thing to Tex-Mex!!! We moved here 2 years ago and haven't been able to find anything close to food from "home"! Thank goodness for this find. Treat yourself to a top shelf margarita (on Saturday night's, its free upgrades )!! Then prepare to devour the delicious Tacos Al Carbon. We can here on a Sunday morning for brunch. It took over an hour to get our food. It was delicious but they really need to step up the service. The female waitress was rude and flustered. The male helping out was very friendly and quick. I really like the food but I'm not sure I'll come back to this place because of the wait time. We ordered 2 molcajetes for four people and beer. I really wish this place could be another neighborhood regular (or occasional) spot, but unfortunately no luck. We've given it the ole college try twice now, but I still am unsure where the 4-5 star reviews come from, other than maybe the food is dramatically better dining in? The first experience was better than the last, I remember everything being "okay" and hitting the spot for a Mexican food craving. The most recent visit will be my last. It's pretty hard to mess up nachos or a beef tostada, but this was all wrong- sub par ingredients seemingly slapped together haphazardly. The ground beef was in weirdly large dried up chunks that were burnt on one side. The nachos were just chips with a tiny layer of melted cheese, and sautéed peppers and onions taking up most of the space in the to-go carton. Were they repurposing an order of fajitas? The one redeeming thing I will say is the chips & salsa, rice & beans and green chile sauce are pretty good- but not enough to warrant another meal here. On Friday May 19th myself and three grandchildren went to this restaurant. It was raining and chilly that day. I pictured the inside and how it would be cozy with some chips and salsa. This was about 4pm. From the moment we walked in the greeter/waitress was nothing but rude. The fans were on high in the front area so I asked to be seated in the second area. That room had its a/c on high. I politely asked if we could move to the one table by the front. She gave a nod and walked off. So we carried our water with us and moved. We had already been there for at least twenty minutes. Between freezing and being ignored all we ever got was water. She did spend a lot of time on the phone. The service was a little spotty, with the vacuum going for most our meal, but what do you expect when you show up at 3PM and are the only people in the restaurant? They have to clean sometime, right? Tacos Jalisco is as close to authentic mexican as you can unfortunately find in the Greater Denver area. The salsas to start are amazing. The salsas are unlimited, but they do charge you for a second basket of chips. The food is great, some dishes are better than the others. Margaritas are quite pricey. read more

Came in for lunch and was greeted right away. Friendly service even though the place was practically dead, my waitress took a while to come around. They do have green chili although I personally found it to be too bland. I also a house margarita which tasted like well tequila and triple sec for $17.50. At the behest of my friend who's a regular here, I stopped in to meet him for lunch . I went with the Chili Relleno's and it was fab. As usual , more than I needed for lunch but it was very tasty. 3 1/2 stars, really. 2 for atmosphere. 2 for service. 4 for food. Tacos Jalisco is like going to Grandma's house. The table is kinda cramped. The TV is playing telenovelas in the corner, right above a weird wine bottle holder (that only holds one bottle) of a horse on its back, getting drunk. The aquarium has a weird piranha in it that you worry might bite your finger off. The service is like Grandma's house too, if you've sort of outstayed your welcome, maybe with a broken leg, and the family is waiting on you but they're pretty much over it. The drink menu has no prices, and when I ordered a regular margarita (I.e., not strawberry or whatever) they said OK and returned a while later with a green, slightly boozy concoction, never to return and offer another through the whole meal. My kid got a Jamaica Aguas Fresca, which came in a 32-ounce cup, and when they refilled it, they refilled it only halfway, like Grandma saying, "You can have more, but only half a cup or you'll wet the bed." Which made us laugh. The food, though, is pretty good. The menu is big, with a higher ratio of especialidads to gringo-combos than most area Mexican restaurants. They bring a bunch of salsas, as everyone else has noted, although I'm not really a fan of them. I opted for a gringo-combo of cheese enchilada with red sauce (really redolent of chile Colorado) and a crispy relleno with green chile. To me, the green chile is about perfect -- at first, really spicy, but then I got accustomed to it, with chunks of tasty pork and a real flavor, not too gravy-like (as Santiago's mild chile is, to me). My New Mexican friend said the beans were just like Grandma's, too. read more

My pork gordita was delicious. The pork was tender and tasty. A simple dish done well. Green chile sauce was picante. Service was very attentive. I was asked how my meal was and (you know me) I gave an honest reply. Atmosphere is very pleasant. Clean, warm with lots of happy customers enjoying their food. Two negatives: 1. The service was a little lacking in that two ladies were running the dining room by themselves - both were great and eager to help. The wait from arrival to my food being served was about 25min. My enchilada arrived warm with cheese inside only partially melted. The cheese on top was melted inferring the use of a microwave. Their responses you can come in and pick it up, if I wanted to come pick it up I would not have had the food delivered in the first place. Or they offer a credit the next time you order which you never get and the last go round they offered to put money back on my card and did not. I don't care that the issue is GrubHub, they are your contractor and if they are taking the food... You need to work with them to make it right. read more

Ok so not so much authentic Mexican food as I was hoping, however the guacamole salsa and chips were amazing! This is probably the only reason why I will be returning to this place!! The ambience is nice and clean. There are booths and regular tables located near a window that slides open to feel the breeze. This place is a sit down and be served. It was helpful that they filled a large pitcher of water and left on the table. This was totally convenient. Since I'm a vegetarian, I ordered from the vegetarian menu. I got the plate that came with a bean tostada, bean taco and bean burrito smothered in red sauce. Since it was so much food, I shared with my daughter. My wife got the shrimp tacos. She stated that they were good but not quite that "street taco" feel or taste she was looking for. However the guacamole salsa made everything taste 10X better! I did notice that neither one of our plates came with rice!! I'm all about Mexican rice and coming from Texas you always get it with your meal. So we had to order as a separate side.
