I'm originally from Texas so trust my very snobby Tex-mex opinion. Every week for 6 months I sampled a New Mexican food restaurant and landed that Tacos Jalisco is in the upper echelon within Denver. Margs are great and they have a great variety of options. Food is very tasty as is the salsa. Service can be a bit hit or miss in terms of sometimes having a longer than normal wait but nothing crazy! Would recommend read more

Really disappointed. Came in on a snowy day to pick up lunch because of the $5 off Yelp coupon. Figured I'd give it a try. They wouldn't let me us it stating restrictions that were not listed on the coupon. I ordered anyway and was pretty surprised at how expensive it was - $23 for 4 carnitas tacos and 1 bean burrito? No chips, no drink. The carnitas was not the least bit crispy and had very little flavor, the tortillas are borderline gross. The retried beans were also flavorless and the burrito was sad looking. Worst tacos I've had in Denver and I feel like I paid way too much for it all. read more

Not bad for the price and the quality! You get three types of salsas when you are seated and they each have their own unique flair of flavor. Not to mention the tacos you can get are sizable for their price! The location is easy to find, right near the Tennyson area across from the old Elitches. I have been to Tacos Jalisco three times now for lunch and the food has been consistently good. The tacos al carbon are great as are the enchiladas. Atmosphere-wise this spot reminds me of the Denver from my youth before the real estate boom wiped out many of the smaller, locally owned places. Stopped here for a few takeout tacos. I got 4 tacos - 2 barbacoa and 2 al pastor and a side of rice and beans. The barbacoa tacos were delicious and exactly what I was kinda hoping for with the al pastor, but I didn't really enjoy the pork. Bonus points for using double corn tortillas. Love that. No biggie about the pork as the barbacoa were so good that they will now be my new go-to taco in that part of town. The rice and beans were good. The nice lady up front who took my call and fulfilled my order was very pleasant. Will be back for the barbacoa. read more

Love this place! Came here during the quarantine for take out Margs and tacos. We rode our bikes right up to the pick up window and they were incredibly friendly. They were happy to make our 32 oz margaritas spicy and they were delicious and such a good deal! ($16). Tacos were authentic street tacos. All around good food and service! read more

One of my favorite places to go for Mexican especially after discovering their house margarita, which could be dangerous especially during happy hour. That aside, I've had a number of dishes here and they are always good. The staff is friendly and attentive and the place is usually pretty full. Visited Tacos Jalisco for the first time this weekend after having a yen for a good "street" taco, and that is exactly what Tacos Jalisco provided. The salsas were tasty, four of them coming out with the chips, and each making a good drizzle topping on the tacos. Most remarkable, I think, was the service. Our basket of chips was refilled quickly, with hot chips. My girlfriend ordered a margarita, and when she finished it, no less than four wait staff, in passing by, asked if she needed wanted another. Our waiter checked in with us frequently during our meal. All in all, very attentive staff! I'll definitely be going back to sample the rest of their tacos. Although TJ has its own parking lot, there are only half a dozen or so spaces, and they appear to fill up quickly. You're best off walking if you can. read more

Delicious mexican food. SUPER cheap. Why does no one mention in their review what a bargain TJ is? The smothered deluxe burritos are $5.50. Regular unsmothered burritos are $3.75. That's a screaming deal, especially in Denver which isn't exactly crawling with food bargains. The atmosphere is typical mexican restaurant, the service is flat out amazing though, super fast. I can't testify to their knowledge of their food as I order the same items every time I come. read more

Had the fish tacos and I know for a fact I'll be craving them again soon! I've been wanting to find an awesome Mexican place near my house, and this fits the bill. Seems like a bit of a hole in the wall from the outside, but it is so beautiful inside! Server was super nice and patient - my mom was in town and we had lunch with a childhood friend of hers so we sat and talked much longer than we might have normally. Some of the best Mex I've found in Denver. It's about as close to my hometown Mexican as you can get here. Our chips were refilled as much as we wanted and came with four, count 'em FOUR, salsas! I had chili rellenos (crispy) which are always my test of good Mexican food. Once a place has proven itself with those delicious fried peppers, I'll venture to other parts of the menu. My friend had the carnitas burrito. I wish the pork had a little more of the crispiness (read: fried goodness) left on it, but it was still really yummy!! Taco's Jalisco at 38th and Tennyson is a decent Mexican restaurant. A nice short walk from the house, we decided to give it a try. The ambiance was okay... nothing fancy or nice... just okay. We had the chile rellenos and cheese enchiladas. The enchiladas were fine. nothing great, but not bad. Could have used a bit more filling... maybe some onions or something. The crispy rellenos (served without green chile - as it is made with pork) were good... but again nothing spectacular. The different salsas they served with the chips were good, and all but the avocado salsa were pretty spicy. For dessert we had the order of 3 sopapillas. Yum! could have used a bit more cinnamon... but they were huge! ... and with plenty of honey. The best part was our server. Without having to ask the cook he knew exactly what was vegetarian and what was not. The refried beans are made with lard... so we didnt have those.... but the spanish rice was free of chicken broth and so we each got an extra size portion of that. He also didnt charge for the large cup of sour cream he brought us. and he was nice and attentive... a nice tip he got! Overall, it was decent. It would be hard to say anything bad about Tacos Jalisco... but it would have been nice if more things were excellent instead of just above average. The one good server, the salsa's, and the sopapillas were great, but not enough to boost it to 4 stars. read more

Dear Tacos Jalisco: If there's anything that vegetarians don't like, it's going to a Mexican restaurant and having a hard time finding something good to eat. Have you ever thought that we exist? How hard is it to offer veggie fajitas, a grilled-veggie burrito, nopalitos, or even chile rellenos that aren't smothered in green chile (pork)? Yes, I know: I could have "substituted" or "left off" something. The problem is that vegetarians also don't like feeling like they're paying for something they're not getting. If the only option on the menu is to order bean and cheese enchiladas, bean and cheese burritos, or bean and cheese tostadas: that's too bad. Not to mention it's that flat, pasty brown refried beans that I've seen and disliked from a hundred Mexican restaurants. With some imagination, I'm sure something good is possible. Tacos Jalisco is old school 38th Avenue, with chairs I believe were from a Chinese restaurant and a certain unique feel to it. Complimentary chips and salsa come with four salsas: a verde, pico, and two red sauces -- one hot, the other hotter. They know how to do spicy here, and that's good, because the menu is extensive, ranging from rellenos to seafood to Mexican hamburgers. I went for mole enchiladas with chicken. The mole sauce had a particularly deep penetrating smokiness to it and its runny texture would have perfectly permeated the shredded chicken, but unfortunately, none of it was inside the enchiladas, only on top. While the food was good, the service was shamefully slow. Fortunately, they put an entire water pitcher down on your table for you, so at least there's no waiting for that. read more

Tacos Jalisco has definitely risen to be my go-to Mexican in my hood. I've never had shredded beef that is as good as the stuff they serve up here. I've tried to waver from the shredded beef tacos by trying out their enchiladas/rellenos/tostadas, but nothing is really as super yummy as those dang shredded beff tacos. I noticed that a lot of yelpers were remiss about slower service here, but that's never been an issue I've noticed. They always seem to be quick to refill drinks, get the food out to the table and to bus. You are supposed to pay at the counter, although they'll run your check for you from the table if you ask. Perhaps, waiting for the check to be rung from the table not knowing you can just walk up to the counter on your way out is causing a lag for some customers? Anywho, dine-in/take-out has always been very quick and always yummy. Parking can sometimes be a pest, as their lot is somewhat small and can be pretty packed with people using the laundromat next door (especially on Sundays!) read more

Defiantly top notch service! A little shaky looking from the outside but you can't judge a book by its cover! the food was a tough call between great and good can put my finger on it though.... The shrimp diablo was some of the best I had ever had, not very spicy but great flavor but that was my ladies plate. I had the burrito super charged or what ever, it was good but that was the not great taste too hmmm can't explain what it was missing i guess The guacamole was a bit bitter and my margarita were not the strongest but tasted very unique. HOORAY Tacos Jalisco! I Love you regardless of what the vegetarians say... I don't go to Watercourse and ask for meat do I? I visited on New Year's Day with 3 very hung over comrades and immediately ordered a sprite and a bowl of pozole to start triage. They roll out a salsa caddy (damn right I said SALSA CADDY!) and we proceeded to nurse ourselves back among the living. I've eaten their egg and chorizo breakfast burrito- it's huge, not Jack and Grill huge, about half that size which was more than enough and delicious. My second time there I had the steak tampiquenia and I was thoroughly impressed at how tender and flavorful it tasted. Sure, skirt steak is no revelation but it's very easy to turn into shoe leather if not done correctly. All in all a great experience and I will definitely be back again soon, highly recommend it! read more

I've been going to Jalisco for about the past five years. Their food is consistently delicious, and how can you not love the four salsas that they complimentarily bring to each table? My favorite entrees include: Pozole (con pan por supuesto), enchiladas verdes de pollo (try this one with an egg on top), soft chile rellenos, any torta, or any tacos (usually barbacoa or carnitas though). On a curious venture next door from the laundromat, we decided to gamble the dice and walk into Tacos Jalisco. Their 5280 taco vote lured us in. Any Mexican place that greets you with great, warm, free chips and 4 different kinds of salsa immediately demands positive attention. Red salsa, tomatillo salsa, pico de gallo, and avocado cilantro. I decided to share a tacos deshebrada (shredded beef) and a side of rice and beans. Their sides are pricey, two to four dollars a pop. But their rice was great! I mean very good Spanish rice is rare. The beans were forgettable. The true gift was the shared order of 4 tacos. I devoured both tacos that were both succulent, flavorful, and conveniently loaded with saved salsa from the chips. They offer a huge menu and I am looking forward to doing laundry if only to gorge myself on some of their other fare. read more

Do you love chips and salsa? And having choices? Look no further. This is a mom-and-pop, no frills Mexican restaurant. You'll find all the standards, but they are prepared with that little extra TLC. I came here YEARS ago with a bunch of friends. We loved it. Fast forward about 12 yrs, and I came back with friends who were visiting their old haunts. I ordered an enchilada and relleno combo platter, with the relleno soft (not deep fried). It was tender, cheesy, and... so so so good. Just the way I love my rellenos. The service was friendly, pleasant, and quick. They were happy to trade out one of the kiddos Arnold Palmer for a sprite when the first choice wasn't as expected (not sweet enough). No fuss, no muss. And oh! For a table of 5 people, we got about 6-7 dishes of salsa (one hot hot, two hot, two medium, two mild) and two baskets of chips on the house. Forget the entree, just give me some of their salsa to slurp. Were you that crazy kid (or adult) who mixes all the flavors of the fountain drinks at 7-11, just for the novelty of tasting the flavor explosion that was different every time? This is why I love Tacos Jaliscos. Every bite of your tacos (you are going to order the tacos, right?) can be different with your special combination of salsa. This service is a bit on the slow side, but at least on my last visit I got to watch a Mexican soap opera that featured wizards. read more

Tacos Jalisco has four star potential but I want to go a few more times and try other things first. On my first visit to a Mexican restaurant I usually order either a smothered bean or carnitas burrito. The "deluxe" carnitas burrito included refritos and very flavorful pork wrapped inside a large, fresh tortilla, topped with green chile and cheese. It was a monster so I could only finish about a third of it - great value at $7.75. Service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable although the west dining room is a bit dark. Just down the block from my house. I can't believe it took my so long to find this place! I have now been here many times and I gotta say it is a GEM. Excellent food! Both flavor, quantity and quality. Once you're seated they bring an assortment of salsas with chips. My favorites are the regular tomato salsa (not the pico) and the avocado verde. Seriously both are in my top 5 favorite salsas ever!!! I usually order the carne asada burrito, which is HUGE. The only thing I don't understand are the price points for the burritos. The standard asada is about $5; smothered with cheese is $6.25; however, with lettuce, sour cream and guac is $9.50. I love my burritos topped with lettuce but the only way to get it is pay an extra $3.25... that's my only dislike. Green chile is awesome. Enchiladas are delicious. Margaritas are tasty and well prepared, thought the servers almost always tell you the wrong price for a marg... it's usually about $2-3 more than they tell you it is - I recommend the Mexican bulldog with a Coronita in it :) One of the other things I love is the diversity of the crowd. This place is traditional enough to attract real Mexicans (me) as well as the entire northside "highlands" melting pot - hipsters, gringos, mommies, 20 & 30 somethings.
