What a fantastic spot! Located in a strip mall/shopping center it is easy to find with plenty of free parking. The staff was friendly and helpful. We happened to show up on Taco Tuesday. They are discounted a bit. Three vegan taco options. Yeah! Ordered the jackfruit, chorizo, and beans and rice. Fresh cilantro on it. Just delicious. They also had a plant based salad that sounded fantastic. Next time. Service was quick and friendly. Prices are very reasonable. Food is excellent. We'll be back. read more

One of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've had in Whistler. We arrived as a group of eight, and the employee who greeted us immediately appeared irritated that we needed to move two tables together. Instead of making us feel welcome, we were made to feel like we were inconveniencing the staff. After being seated, all eight of us waited for about 10 minutes because we had no idea this was a counter-service restaurant. No one checked on us or made any effort to ensure we understood how to order. When we finally asked another employee, we were told we needed to order at the counter. When we brought this up to the greeter, she claimed she had already explained it. If every person at the table missed the same instruction, the communication clearly wasn't effective. Rather than acknowledging the misunderstanding or offering a simple apology, she chose to defend herself. That response said everything about the level of customer service. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable ordering food. The rest of our group did order. The food was decent, but several orders came out incorrectly, adding to an already poor experience. To top it off, the music was so loud that holding a normal conversation was difficult. It felt more like a bar trying to be a nightclub than a restaurant where people come to enjoy a meal together. Good food can make people come back. Good service makes them want to. Unfortunately, this place delivered neither consistently enough for us to consider returning. read more

Great local spot with nice authentic food. My husband tried just about every taco and they were all delicious. I think my favorite was the pastor but you can't go wrong with any of them. The chips and guacamole were sooo good, definitely a must. The tacos are pretty small though so make sure you order a few! read more

We LOVEDDDDDD La Cantina. Some of us (me) we're very hungry - some we're not so hungry (them) so it allowed us to get as much food as we wanted or as little food as we wanted. I got the burrito and I thought it was GREAT. But, what really made it was their homemade hot sauces they have - SOOOO GOOD. I could have drank the jalapeño sauce and thought the habanero sauce was so flavorful. The other guests with me raves about the soups they got and also just got one taco! They recommend four for a meal but honestly everyone agreed two would be sufficient. Would definitely stop here again. read more

I stopped here while I'm whistler village and saw that the reviews were pretty good and was definitely wanting some Mexican food so figured I would give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised . The service and quickness of the staff was great and very fast after ordering the food we were served within a couple minutes and as for the food it was actually really good , I wish they offered carne Asada but the beef burrito was good . We also ordered the chicken burrito which the kids loved and they were a good size . My only complaint was $12 for chips and salsa when the burrito was $13.50 which I won't reduce the rating but think they should be a lower cost. Overall if your wanting tacos or burritos and in the area this is definitely a spot to check out while here. read more

3.5 stars for quick tacos. Came on a weekday and there was no line around mid afternoon. Service was friendly and quick. Had a beef and a pork taco. Both were average. The beef had more flavor and the jalapeno sauce added a little kick. The tacos are on the smaller side so it'd be good for a snack or you should get the recommended 4 tacos for a meal. It is just a bit pricey. Overall, I'd try it at least once. read more

I can't control myself when I'm here! I go through stages of "I'm soooooooo full!" to "Why am I still eating it hurts soooooo bad!" to "I'll have two more tacos!" If you're in this place long enough the same thing may happen to you. If you're passing through the nesters area this is a good stop to get something quick with friendly service. They also use the real soft taco shells like the ones I've seen my Mexican friends use and double shell each taco for no spillage. Our favs are the mole verde chicken and pasilla beef. Come on Tuesday's for taco Tuesday their meat tacos drop in price from $3.25 to $2.50 and while it isn't the cheapest taco around it's still a deal for the whistler area. They say that four tacos is a meal but I'd say it's more like 6 if you're hungry, I'm a small person and I think these are tiny tacos. The only one thing that bothers me is is that they nickel and dime you for salsa and guacamole etc. It should be free if you buy a minimum amount of tacos. On my last trip I had like ten of them so that should entitle me to free salsa and guacamole no? I'm from California. I didn't expect to get good tacos in Whistler of all places. But was craving a taco for a snack so figured I'd try this place, not expecting much. I got the Beef Pasilla taco to start, and WOW, what an amazing explosion of flavors. It is SOOO good!! Definitely try it... filled with flavor, and the chicken has clearly been slow cooked well in this sauce. It was so delicious that I returned 2 days later craving the same taco. I also tried the Beef Barbacoa one. Also good, but I still prefer the Beef Pasilla one the best. The service at this place is also great - friendly, welcoming, helpful, and fun! read more

Friendly staffs and quite a few tables outdoors. Dogs are welcomed to sit outside but they need to be away from the walkway and tied to the side. The servers bring out the food to your table after you placed your orders inside. You can dine there or take them to go. Reasonable prices and delicious food. I've had more authentic burritos and burrito bowls than this but it's still yummy. Their tacos are nice though. I did enjoy the frozen lime margarita. This is way better than the other Mexican restaurant we went to that was near the lift. This place's price is pretty reasonable and it taste pretty good. My hubs had 3 various tacos, (pork and beef) and he loved it. I didn't eat anything here today but I've had their food here previously and thankfully they have vegetarian/vegan option which is nice! The atmosphere is pretty comfortable here and it's clean. The staff are quite friendly too. Highly recommend this place! read more

Drove by here on the way from a hike and was very pleased with the find. We tried the citrus pork, cochinita pork, pasilla beef, and rajas poblanoels in both tacos and burrito bowl form and everything was fantastic. Super flavorful, fresh, juicy, ample meat, delicious veggie (so good I am totally getting a burrito stuffed with rajas poblanos next time!), soft tortillas, yummy salsas and it doesn't break the bank. The burritos are huge here, service is super fast, and I like that it being away from the hustle and bustle of the village that it's quieter, more laid back, has lots of parking and is even priced slightly cheaper. $2.50 Tacos on Tuesday in Whistler! Need I convince you more? The tacos are authentic too -- double layered, heaps of toppings. I tried sweet pork, verde beef, portabello and another vegetable one with feta (surprisingly tasty); I would order all of them again! They also have $4 coronas on Tuesday and $3.50 coronas on Happy hour. Decor is funky and poppy with great wall grafittis. What's better than tacos and margs after a cold wet day on the slopes? Nothing. Found this place (hard to find kind of, at least with google maps). Anyway, cute little space, order at the bar, tacos come out quick. All the regular suspects, in regards to street tacos. Chips and gauc were on point. All the cashiers and the servers were really, really on edge and pushy. They would ignore you and cut you off mid order, and kind of just drop the food on the table when they brought it over. Been going to Whistler for years and good Mexican Inspired flavors have never been a strong suit so I've always held off cravings until there was a guarantee of some decent standards. Tried the tacos here today and was thoroughly impressed. Good meat tortilla ratio, excellent flavors and really good selection of sauces. Super cute decor prompting Nacho Libre quotes.
