It's been high 70s and humid as balls all week, but the rain clouds came in and the temp is suddenly in the 50s. Soup weather's my favorite, and that calls for pozole. This place had been on my radar specifically for pozole, even though my favorite kind is the Puebla style (green base, not red) and the ones in pictures from here were red. I gave them a ring. When someone picked up and answered, "Bueno," my inner Barney in Spanish class said, Challenge accepted. (I wish I knew how to say that in Spanish, but then, it wouldn't be a challenge.) I'm glad to report I successfully ordered four tacos on flour tortillas and a quart of pozole because those were what I found in my bag once I got home. What's particularly impressive is the spread of condiments I got (see picture). I think she gave me a whole lime, and as a lime lover for all foods Latina, I extra-appreciate that. And the pozole was stuffed with chicken and hominy! The soup base was yummy and, with two mini-tubs of the extra picante hot sauce and four squeezes of lime, it was exactly what I wanted on a wet, cold night. The tacos ($2 each) also were delicious. I got two barbacoa and two beef, and both were flavorful, with just enough pan grease (in the best way). I would even say it was on the saltier side so I don't know what some reviewers are saying when they say the food here's bland, unless they are the type to add on salt by the scoop. Definitely a spot to revisit for authentic tacos and delicious pozole! read more

So, 2020 has not been great, we can all agree on that....correct? Well, my trusty SUV of 14 years decided to retire last month. I bought a 2017 Jetta which I'm loving to drive, and for extra money to get it paid off faster, I've been driving for Lyft. Yes, I know...I'll get to my point really quick on here. I was in the area dropping off my latest customer which happened to be of the 'latin' persuasion and I asked them where they went to eat good food. They told me of this nice establishment, so I shutdown for an hour and stopped by to see if they were truly correct on their assessment. I was in the mood for 'street tacos' and a mexican Coca-Cola, so went with that for an early dinner, and boy was I not disappointed. I sat down and waited for the waitress to bring the food which I figured would just be on a plate, you know, set up like usual with some sauteed onions and cilantro. NOPE!! This lady brought me a steaming hot-plate like they do when you order fajitas for two from one of the fancy restaurants in town. Boy, were these tacos delicious and the fact that they all stayed hot throughout my meal?? that was the icing on the cake and why I'm giving these guys a straight-5 stars from the get!! read more

Food was okay, but nothing special. The salsa in the bowl they serve with the chips is watery and pretty much just tastes like onion. I got the tacos de asada and they were alright. They serve you free charro beans when they bring your food which was a pleasant surprise. The queso fundido was good. Overall my husband and I weren't super impressed with the food, but it did fill us up. I probably wouldn't come back here again though. read more

Saw good reviews on Yelp, so we came to see what the rave was about. Riiiiiiigggghhhhhttttt....... The tall waitress is so dry and unfriendly and presents as if she's bothered by us, but is very social to other patrons. She spent most of her time playing with these 2 young boys, who also kept going behind the counter to get cans of soda. I wish we would've gotten the smiley faced friendly older lady that welcomed us when we first walked in. The food was totally not what the reviews stated. You can tell the meat was microwaved. The beef, barbacoa, and pastor were a bit dry. The chips were cold, and the salsas were all watery. We eat a lot of Mexican food, authentic Mexican food, and this was like school lunch at an under funded campus. The older lady was so sweet and talkative. The only time i saw the tall lady smile was when i was talking to the older lady and told her i saw them on Yelp. I didn't leave a tip bcz of poor service. So I'm working a club one night. I've been at it too long, so someone calling me by name for a picture isn't a big deal. There it was, "Sergio." I respond. Then the sweet lady says, "You wrote a bad review of my place." Weird no? So I say, "It wasn't bad, I think I just caught you on a bad night." Next day--guess where I was? I'm going to stick to my guns. Still not the best tacos in town, but definitely good and better than my initial encounter with Asaderos. The dryness of the al pastor was not an issue this round. Late night stop: 1am Was hungry after a stop over at Downing Street Pub, and my friend wanted tacos. It was on my home, so we went. Get there, and there is only 3 people there. It's late, so I'm not surprised. Clean and colorful atmosphere, quick and friend service. The menu has the setup where there are dishes and then what your options for meats underneath and quantity, kind of a grid style which makes things a lot easier. Colorful pictures on the menu matches the decor. My friends ordered tacos: churrizo, chicken, barbacoa, and I believe 1 other, but I wasn't paying attention. I decided to buy my brother and sister some stuff and bring it home, so I ordered the queso dip on the back of the menu, a churrizo sope, chicharron quesedilla, and a barbacoa torta. My queso dip reminded me of this same dish I ordered in a taco shop in Cancun, so very good. The churrizo that was in it was pretty good, but the white cheese on it made it. It came out piping hot and an aluminum foil wrap of corn tortillas (5 I remember). The rest of my order was to-go, so when I went to pay my bill, everything was already packed up and ready to go for me. I was told the torta was good, I had the chicharron quesedilla after I microwaved it out of emergency (though tasty, would have been better crispier if I had used the toaster oven or something). I did not eat the sope, but it looked great with it's little puffy bread and sprinkled white cheese. Good service, clean, friendly and open till 2am on the weekend. Oh, forgot to mention, table service came with free chips and salsa which were really fresh tasting though the salsas were average.
