Their condiments help them stand out among the street taco crowd; the red and green sauces pack a punch in spice and savoriness, respectively. Of note, their red sauce is REALLY spicy. Start off by using that one sparingly (coming from someone who prides himself in handling spicy food)! The food truck sits in a compact parking lot of a rundown convenience store. Things start look to shady as the night progresses and it's not uncommon to come across a disheveled, mentally ill person talking to themselves. It's been a few months since I visited Houston but this taco truck and the food I had there lives rent free in my head for what feels like will be eternity. Where do I begin? This is a humble truck parked in the parking lot of a convenience store on a really busy road. If you choose to eat at the truck be prepared to be in the company of some interesting characters. The lady running the truck is super sweet though. The highlight for me here was definitely the steak tacos, steak gordita and steak machete. It was appropriately greasy, the machete was oozing with cheese. But the star of the entire show is their salsa verde. That green sauce is straight out of Mexican heaven - if there is such a place. This is literally my favorite taco truck, and the best part is most of the tacos are only $1. I usually get the Pastor and Fajita tacos. Both tacos always hit, you can't go wrong with either. The tacos here are on the smaller size though (makes sense because it's $1), so it usually takes my friends and me about 4-5 tacos to be satisfied. Even though they're kinda small, they pack a punch of flavor. The meat is crispy yet very juicy and the tortilla is doubled layer with a slight crisp outside. It's served with cooked onions and cilantro with a side of lime and salsa verde. They also have huge horchatas for $4 but it's not on the menu. - Pastor taco (6/5): The flavor of the pastor tacos is amazing, and they usually give a generous amount of meat. As I mentioned earlier, some of the meat is crispy which adds such a nice texture. - Fajita tacos (5/5): the meat is less crispy than the pastor tacos and more on the juicy tender side. You can really taste the sweetness of the beef and it's a lighter flavor than the pastor. The fajita is usually my safe taco pick. Service/Ambiance: Sometimes it's very tricky to park at this taco truck because of how small the parking lot is. The lot is a bit sketchy but my friends and I haven't had any trouble besides sometimes people asking for money. This is, however, such a good place to get a late-night snack because they're open so late. Post-concert tacos hit harder! The workers are super chill and depending on who's cooking sometimes they're more generous with the meat, but I've never had a bad taco here. So the thing about this place is this: every so often, the truck gets a new owner... then completely replaces the staff. And when this happens, there's a huge change in quality. This happened again very recently... like 2 months ago. I live in the neighborhood, so I'd eat there probably once a week at least. And the expediter... the woman in the window who took your order / payment, then gave you your meal... was a very memorable person, to say the least (IYKYK). But love her or hate her, she ran that place like a well-oiled machine. Now there's some other woman in her place, and the cooking staff is a new set of people. And nothing against them, I'm sure they're nice people and their style of cooking is appreciated... somewhere... but i dunno if it's the quality of meat, or just they way they prepare it, but it's definitely not the same tacos I was eating a few months back. This is just for the tacos, I thought as a whole, everything was just alright. The meat is cooked good and is tender, but doesn't have alot of flavor, imo. It seems like they make their own tortillas, they taste really good and they toast the outer one (they use 2 tortillas per taco). Like others have said, there isn't a lot of meat in the tacos. My husband and I have been going here for late night taco runs for 4 years and love this place! The food is good, it's affordable and the ladies who are cooking are always kind. Things to note: They're cash only! You can call ahead to place an order on the phone :) It's not the fastest place but we usually order over the phone and plan to arrive there within 15-20 mins of ordering and it's generally ready to go at that time so no waiting. I have come to this truck over the years. I have forgiven getting diarrhea twice that lasted a week after eating meals here. I will not say it was from the truck but it happened right after eating from it. The food taste good and I tip them every time. However, recently they have a new girl, 4-6 months ago now, that had started working the truck in the day time. Around 3-4 PM is when I would stop by. I guess or assume she only likes or respects certain groups of people because each time I try to order she frowns at me and says "What !" She doesn't do this to the people before or after me.
