Cheesy Poblano Birria and Pastor Birria

Stopped in to celebrate cinco de mayo with friends. They had great specials for the day. The mango frozen margarita took long enough that we had all the food out first. But it was good flavor. Not too sweet. As shown, the elite is definitely not what their social media was advertising. It had a good flavor behind it but wish it was a larger portion. The poblano birria and pastor were definitely both tasty. Decent amount of food on the each. Overall we were decently happy. Cashier was nice about everything. The restaurant was freezing so I do recommend a sweatshirt.

Tacos are decent missing a little flavor I only tried breakfast and the burrito. All good was freshly made salsas are good . The flavor on the tacos just wasn't there still enjoyed them . I highly recommend for any taco lovers . Service was quick and ambiance chill . They are not stingy with there servings that is great .

I haven't been to Tacos A Go Go in years, and now I am not only remembering it fondly, but also determined to support it more. What's cool is it's near Double Trouble and Sig's Lagoon--so one could make an afternoon or early evening out of visiting these different establishments. I just wanted a beef fajita taco and bought a chicken quesadilla for a family member. The taco was great and so were the salsas--my favorite, as always, being salsa verde. I thought the quality of the beef was really good. Service was great. 5/5

It was good. I love that they have breakfast tacos all day. The tacos came out quickly. The agua frescas were good. Inside is cute. The cashier was fine. Not mean and not overly nice. Just ok. All in all, pretty good.

I went to Tacos a go go with a friend based on strong recommendations from another friend who lives in Houston and it was a big hit. We got a breakfast taco, horchata, beef birria tacos, and a trio of carne asada, carnitas, and (I think) refried beans tacos. Everything was so good! We sat outside for the weather and really enjoyed our time there. There was a bit of a wait for the food but good food takes time and staff were polite. This is an ideal casual dining spot.

Pollo Guisado Pastor Taco Verde Crispy Beyond "Chicken" Taco - Vegetarians

I've been to this Tacos A Go Go a few times and it's a pretty solid taco place. I think the pricing is reasonable and my friends and I usually get full off of just two tacos. - Pollo Guisado (1.5/5): I always forget I don't like this taco and accidentally order it because it is listed as "A taco you must eat before you die". Personally, I don't understand the hype and I always regret ordering it. I find it to be very dry and lacking in flavor. Chicken tacos are usually dry in general, so I'm not too up in arms about that, but the flavor is just so weak. I feel like all I'm tasting is the tortilla when I'm eating it. - Pastor Taco (4/5): Tacos A Go Go makes a pretty solid pastor taco. Their pastor taco is very juicy and has a good tangy flavor. I like how they double-layer the tortilla so that the sauces don't seep through and make a mess. Overall just a pretty solid pastor taco. Service/Ambiance: This is a chill sit-down place to get tacos. It's never too crowded and there's plenty of seating. The restaurant is also very nicely decorated, which creates a really fun ambiance. I also like how they leave a bunch of different types of salsas and hot sauces out for people to use. Overall, the tacos here are pretty good for the price and it's a nice place to go if you want to have a sit-down meal! Also, don't get the Pollo Guisado!

I love these tacos. This should be your go to take out taco when you are down in the financial district. The place itself in one of the tunnel food courts. The restaurant is small with limited seating, but the food has flavors that are bold and the tacos are large. The food is delivered quickly, lines move fast, the staff is friendly but always busy. Everything is absolutely delicious. My recommendations are the shrimp and the brisket taco.

This place is kinda cute. We were hungry and tacos sounded good. The staff were very friendly and the service was quick. I had a grilled chicken taco and the pastor taco, both were good. I felt like the Pastor could've had more meat inside considering it was the most expensive out of our order, it was delicious though. Full of flavor. The chicken was good, nothing to rave about but it was decent, I'd have them both again. My husband had the grilled beef tacos. He liked them. His were full of meat. They have a salsa bar with different levels of heat individually contained. I also had a spicy margarita, frozen. Id never had a frozen spicy margarita before, only the ones on the rocks. It was really good. When we got there, it was karaoke going on, which was fun! We didn't participate, but we enjoyed listening. All the patrons seemed to be having a great time.

What are the margaritas made with if y'all don't serve liquor?

Tequila! We do serve alcohol at all locations except our One Shell Plaza location in the downtown tunnels. :)

Do you still have puffy tacos? If so, when and at what locations?

I’m sorry we don’t. :( While we had some die-hard fans, they just didn’t sell that well.

Are there any Taco Tuesday deals?

I heard they don't serve liquor but have mimosas... do they serve the mimosas through late night?

Yes. Until 2 am on Friday and Saturday nights. Sangria too. As well as beer of course!

    Is there somewhere to park?

Street parking is usually available but why risk a parking ticket or worse when the Mid Main Parking Garage is just across the street. Cheap parking if you're gonna stay and eat, but if you're just picking up a take out order , the parking garage… Read more

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. When I think of tacos and burritos, this place is what comes to mind!

Allow me to be Review No. 1,100 following my visit to this wonderful culinary gem yesterday…read more By default, Spring Branch is Houston's Koreatown, but it's not unusual to find establishments with Spanish-language branding on them throughout the neighborhood. And Tacos Doña Lena, on which I'll heap tons of praise on, is among them. A group of friends and I had supper here before a live show down the street at Eighteen Ten Ojeman. Upon seeing the storefront when we pulled into the parking lot, my first thought was, "Okay, this is legit Mexican, not Tex-Mex." The interior is quite small with some tables and an ample late Saturday afternoon crowd. What caught my eye is how the environment is what you might expect to find at a family-run taqueria off the beaten path. Rock en Español blaring from the sound system. Colorful papel picado draped from the ceiling. A framed Mexican flag and several references to the central Mexican municipality of Guanajuato. The intoxicating smell of spice-laced grilled beef wafting through the air. Simply put, we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto. I glanced at the menu. There are numerous, delicious-sounding items that happen to be wallet-friendly, a bit cheaper than if you were to go to Gringos or Jimmy Changas. According to a mutual, the tacos here are the main draw, but what really caught my attention and appetite was the ramen birria. Mujeres y caballeros (ladies and gentlemen), let me proclaim that Tacos Doña Lena turns a noodle dish with origins in Japan and is a known staple in college dorm rooms into a must-try on this part of America's fourth-largest city. Two amazing food cultures unite for a fiery meeting of the minds. Anchored by a rich, tasty consomé that's spicy but not enough to where you need to drink multiple glasses of water, there's a prime mix of ramen noodle, beef birria, cheese, fried egg, rabanos, garbazo, and corn accompanied by cilantro, onions, and a pair of fried tostadas. I was so impressed with how the contents of the ramen blended together. Since it was ramen after all despite the south of the border touchup, I still ate it the traditional way: pick up the noodles and sip the soup. There was so much that I had no choice but to put it in a takeout container. Sure, Spring Branch may be home to some great traditional Korean restaurants, but don't sleep on Tacos Doña Lena.

Since it was my first time here, I ended up ordering 1 chorizo and 1 asada taco, churros, limon aguas, and my friend got the asada taco as well and a hortchata! Since it was super busy (especially on saturday night) it was about a 30 minute wait foe our food but it was well worth it! They hand out free chicharrones and they were super crunchy and a nice snack while we waited for our food. The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that the open kitchen concept so you can see them making your food right in front of you! Everything smelled so good so I was excited for my food. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again. Overall, I had a great experience and I will be craving the tacos until the next time I can come back! I can't wait to try a lot of their other menu items as well. Definitely recommend!
