Wasn't sure where it was located at first. This place shares the building with Rancho Market. Park on the east side. The place is not impressive but man the food made up for it! We had the chicken quesadilla and the pina queso pastor tacos and everything was SO GOOD!!! Will be back!

This taco shop is in an international strip mall behind rancho markets. Yes, it's mostly Spanish speaking only but it's amazing food and it seems to draw a crowd. The meat to buy is pastor all others are just ok busy still good! I just like more char in my meat. The salsa is spicy! I love it, but beware, it's actually spicy. If you are in the area, this place is definitely worth a try! You can eat in the strip mall. There are bathrooms upstairs to the end of the building otherwise there's a handwashing station right next to the taco shop!

Stopped by for tacos while in SLC because - wait for it - a Tik Tok influencer told me to. I was glad I had time to stop by because the hype is real. Coming from New Mexico, I am no stranger to good Mexican food. The tacos here are the real deal. The pastor and campechano tacos were the best. The asada was, admittedly, just okay. The asada meat didn't have any crisp/char to it and didn't seem very high quality, so I'd recommend opting for other meats. The salsas were also good, especially the red salsa that had a nice kick to it. The staff were very friendly and handled the high volume lunch hour very well.

I'm knocking this place down a star while the food is still excellent the prices have gone waaaaaay up. This makes the value not as good there for I can't give it 5 stars.

So good! If you are looking for delicious al pastor - this is the place. We also tried a fruit smoothie which was good but way too much sweet liquid to go with food for me and we had a cheese quesadilla which too was the perfect crispy outside and gooey inside delicious. All the food is made to order so it's always fresh and hot when your order is ready. The location is in an indoor strip mall that's attached to a local Latino grocery chain store. You order at the counter and then call your number for pickup when it's ready. There are tables available adjacent to eat-in or they'll pack everything for take-out. The staff is friendly and was helpful with our questions. We've been back several times since our first visit.

Great customer service and amazing juice! It's in the location of the mall so the seating area is in the middle. No wait line.

Don't sleep on the Al Pastor tacos here at El Morelense. They are still as amazing as ever. I love that these are prepared with a Lebanese influence and spit-grilled vertically. Pastor con queso y pina is still my favorite and the only thing I ever get, but their Tortas and other tacos are also great choices. The red sauce is the best salsa in my opinion since it's the spiciest and just how I like it. Check out their website to order ahead and have it ready for pickup at your designated time which is super convenient!

Love the al pastor tacos. Look at that big piece of pineapple! It fits perfectly in a folded taco and won't fall out when you take a bite. The meat has nice flavor and is easy to bite Into and chew as well Ample seating. Pretty quick service.

This is my favorite Al pastor in the valley! Sooo good! I wish the salsa bar was a little better though.

Tacos and quesadillas were fantastic... Too bad I live so far away. Pastor chorizo and asada

Unfortunately, this visit was very different. We were seated quickly and given menus, but then no one came to greet us or take care of us. We watched several other tables get seated and receive chips and salsa while we continued waiting. The restaurant was somewhat busy, so at first we assumed they were just behind. After waiting quite a while, I finally got up and spoke with one of the managers at the front. He immediately apologized and sent someone over to our table, who was also very apologetic. We ordered two tamales as an appetizer--which were amazing and definitely lived up to what they are known for--and shared the enchiladas since they come with four. Our first server brought the tamales and then told us that Nadia would be taking over our table. However, we never saw Nadia. Eventually, the other server brought our enchiladas, which were also very good. Unfortunately, after that, no one came back to check on us for the remainder of the meal. I had ordered water with ice, which had completely melted, and honestly wished I had ordered something else because there was never an opportunity to ask. At that point, it felt like we had once again been forgotten. A different manager eventually came over and apologized again. He offered to pay for our dinner, which was an incredibly generous gesture and very much appreciated. The whole situation was a little awkward because we could see staff at the front discussing the situation and looking over at our table, but then no one actually came back to check on us. When we were ready to leave, I finally got up and asked if there was anything we needed to do before leaving. Thankfully, the manager confirmed everything had been taken care of. I really have to give credit to the restaurant managers for recognizing the situation and doing their best to make it right. We have eaten here several times before and the food has consistently been excellent, especially the tamales. Because of our previous experiences and the way management handled this situation, we will definitely be back. Hopefully, this was just an unfortunate one-off experience because La Casa del Tamal truly has amazing food.

They do give you a basket of chips and beans and I wished they offered salsa. I'm a salsa girl. My only suggestion is I wished they had interacted a little bit with us. We were the only ones there for a considerable amount of time. I would have liked to know the history of the food and why the restaurant opened. However the service was good.
