CARNITAS! Seriously good carnitas! Flavor and texture are excellent, and for $2/taco good luck finding a better deal. The salsa rojo has a nice spicy kick. The salsa verde is smooth and rich. Outstanding taco truck, owners where friendly and courteous, service was quick. I had three carna asada tacos with everything and the hot salsa. Tacos where juicy and so much meat I could hardly close them, onion and cilantro where fresh. I like salsa on the hot side and this hit the mark, tangy with a rich flavor and a kick. Most of the seating area was filled by one large family group, they invited me to sit with them as soon as my order was up and we had a good conversation over the meal. Stopped by this truck on an overnight in Lone Pine on our way to Death Valley. We found it after searching on yelp- many other restaurants were closed, but $2 tacos sounded perfect. This was an excellent choice! We ordered asada, carnitas, and pollo tacos. Tacos are cooked fresh when you order, and they were delicious! Meat was well seasoned, and the portions were generous. Add your own toppings - I loved it with onions, salsa verse, cilantro, and lime. We ordered two each, but I wish we'd ordered one more because they were so good! There were tables and chairs, which we sat in while waiting for the food, but we ended up taking them to go and eating in our hotel room. The truck is also across the street from a gas station, convenient to fill up and grab any other snacks you want with your tacos! read more

Location tip: North end of 395, catty corner to the Mobile station. This is not the truck that might be parker next to the Mobile - go diagonally across the street. Solid tacos and a great salsa bar for being a humble food truck. My 3 stars are no slight, I'm just a hard grader on Mexican food. This is 100% solid as compared to the food I grew up eating in LA. A family operation, very friendly folks. You order, wait at the fold out table, the food is prepared when ordered so don't expect fast food timing, then they let you know when your order's ready. Totally easy. Fill you tacos with items from the salsa bar. If something is low - which it might be because it's a well-used bar - just ask and they quickly restock everything. Sodas are available in the cooler. Lone Pine is a sleepy place. If you're looking for a casual bite, this is a recommendable stop. read more

It wouldn't surprise me if this is the best food you can buy in Lone Pine. I ordered 3 tacos to start: carnitas, asada, pollo. All were really good. I was especially impressed with how the asada and pollo were very tender and juicy. The tortillas were also very good. The self-serve salsa area on the side of the truck is a nice touch -- all of the sauces were tasty, and you can help yourself to not only cilantro, onion, and lime but also pico de gallo. I ended up ordering a cheek taco too (beef). First time I've ever had cheek, and it was also great. I don't know how much they move the location. When we visited it was tucked a block off of 395 on E Willow, at the corner with C St. There was another taco truck on the other side of 395 (didn't try that one) at the same intersection, but more visible. read more

After hiking over Shepard's pass with bronchitis taking two days the food truck looked like heaven. I'm vegan and they made a great vegetable burrito. Great food truck tacos! We knew it was somewhere near the Carl's Jr. so we just drove the area to find them. They were on the opposite side a few streets down near a bar. They have a variety of tacos to choose from and everything came out hot and fresh. We ordered 12 tacos and everyone was very happy. It was a great quick stop on our way to Tahoe. Just FYI.... I'll skip the repetition of glowing reviews and just say... don't be a gringo and try to step out of your comfort zone with the cheek meat taco (it's the best one IMO). I was able to try this place after reading yelp reviews. Tasted very authentic. We tried asada taco, pork taco, and huge nacho. Seasoning was just right for asada and pork one was very juicy and tasty. Self serving salsa bar is a plus too. This will be our regular stop by place whenever we are on 395. Stopped to grab lunch on our way back home from Lake Tahoe. I'm glad we stopped the tacos were delicious. I tried the asada and the adobada which is similar to al pastor, and carnitas. The tacos aren't overly dressed in sauces and spices, just good fresh and simple tacos--and that makes them so delicious. Seems everyone stopped here--truckers, locals, and tourists (us included). Definitely ask for all three sauces (green mild, red hot if you can handle it, and avocado) and with onions and cilantro. The cachete (pig cheek) was my favorite but wasn't available when they first opened up around noon; otherwise we only tried the asada (beef steak). I also had a burrito which is beans, rice, cheese, and meat. The truck isn't where the maps show it. Just look around on that corner. HOLY COW. The carne asada is AWESOME! HOLY GUACAMOLE, they gave me some for free! WHAT THE CHICKEN?! It was juicy & flavorful! The salsa bar was actually really good! OMG this place is amazing! Visited Lone Pine for a few nights and discovered this hidden gem searching the Yelp reviews. Ordered fish, shrimp, and chicken tacos. We were amazed how flavorful and delicious everything was, especially the fish and shrimp tacos, considering they were grilled and contained no cream or cheese flavor enhancers. I don't know how they're able to pull that off. Fish tacos rival the best fish tacos I've had in San Diego. We actually ended up coming here 2 nights in a row it was so good. We stumbled down Mt. Whitney around 11:30pm and no restaurants were open, but the girl at the hotel recommended we try this taco stand. Since the prices were so good and since we were absolutely starving we ordered a ton of food. I ordered 3 chorizo tacos and the quesadillas.. And honestly this little taco truck is probably some of the best food in Lone Pine and it's served up with the most genuine hospitality you'll find in this town. The tacos are totally authentic, just the meat of your choice (asada, adovado, pollo, carnitas and tripa) served on two small steamed corn tortillas. The camaron taco is light with plump, juicy shrimp; hands down best one I've ever had. The many salsas available are fresh tasting with real depth of flavor--I wish I could take home a bottle of the cilantro lime creamy salsa!
