They were amazing but, the real catch was their home made hot sauce, the best hot but, not overwhelming with a lot of flavor. Attention business travelers. If you are in a nearby hotel there's slim pickings when it comes to restaurants in the area. I'm found this place on Yelp and when I pulled in I was apprehensive let's face it it's in a sketchy neighborhood. I sucked it up and went inside and struggled with the thought of turning around and running. It's a dive and that's being generous. The menu is limited but I went for it. People, the food was outstanding! I got 3 tacos on flour tortillas, chicken, beef, and chorizo with rice and beans and dang!!! dang, this was good, the portions were generous and everything was just great. I missed this " little while in the wall" as some others had described, but my husband went to bring food back for us. He said he was tenth in line. Hands down my favorite spot for tacos. A little sketchy at first glance, but this place doesn't not disappoint. They make their own corn tortillas the steak is awesome, the chicken is bangin, barbacoa is my favorite but you can't go wrong with your choice. I was spending the weekend with friends in Richmond, and we wanted to eat a big meal before we got ready for a watch party later. We were hungry so we wanted to go somewhere nearby, preferably on our side of the river. A friend suggested a taco place they really liked, so we went to Tacos Mexico to eat. The first thing I noticed when we got there is that the place is pretty small. It's a standalone building with parking around it, and while it has some tables and chairs, there isn't a ton of space for seating. The layout of the inside is great though; they have a simple menu displayed above the register, you can see the grills where they cook the meats, and they make the tacos in front of you which I liked a lot. The service was also very nice. The staff were friendly and you could see that they were making the food quickly for everyone. There was a line when we got there, but it moved quickly and it didn't take very long for our food to be ready once we ordered. I was very grateful for this since I was starving when we got there. I ordered 5 tacos, a mix of pollo and asada, and it was honestly really good. There was a good amount of food in each taco, especially for the price. The meat tasted great, which was doubly nice since I saw them cooking it on the grill earlier, and the ingredients all tasted super fresh. I've gone to a decent amount of taco places in the past, and these tacos stood out to me with how fresh they tasted. I'm definitely a fan of this taco place. There isn't a ton of seating but that shouldn't be a problem if it isn't super busy, and being able to see them cook and prepare the food is definitely a nice touch. The food was great, my friends and I all enjoyed the meal, and I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for tacos in Richmond. Went with the hand made corn tacos more authentic toppings. All three tacos were extremely delicious. Perfectly seasoned and tender meat and fresh and flavorful toppings. Small authentic shop about 15 minutes from downtown. The food is not super fresh; I had a feeling some ingredients were sitting around but the meat was really well seasoned and my tacos tasted great. I had the al pastor and barbacoa. My dinner companions both had enchilada platters and ate their plates clean. There are 2 tables and window seating. One complaint is that at the time there did not seem to be any free water (no fountain drinks) so I got a bottled drink as did pretty much everyone there and it felt wrong to just throw all those bottles away. I got the carne asada which were my favorite, I also got the birria which were okay and the Al pastor which were also okay. I also tried a hurrache which is fried dough with your protein of choice and what ever toppings you want. All in all good place for tacos it's like a home cook meal.
