I once scoffed at Taco Morelos, simply because they started parking their truck where Endless Summer used to park, before they moved to Bedford and Metropolitan. After a long while of resisting, I found myself half drunk, and in the mood for tacos on Bedford avenue late at night. Taco Morelos seriously delivered! The chorizo tacos I ordered were outstanding, and priced nicely. The chicken tacos my girlfriend ordered were good too. The service is quick, and of moderate friendliness. I still pick Endless Summer as my favorite tacos in Williamsburg, and one of my favorite food trucks, period. But please, taco lovers, don't pass up Tacos Morelos. They are especially clutch late at night. read more

This is my favorite taco truck, maybe my favorite place to eat in Williamsburg. No exaggeration. They are affordable, have a variety of options (not just tacos!) and most importantly the food is tasty as heck. This truck is right outside of the subway station which makes it easy to stumble on over on your way in or out of Williamsburg after a night on the town. I have never had or seen any issues with the cleanliness of the food, workers or actual truck itself. The steak and chicken is well season and cooked, and the tortillas are fresh! Only ONCE did they run out of chorizo when I stopped by but it forced me to try the spicy pork which is now a new favorite. Furthermore they don't skimp on the fillings or the sauces unlike other food trucks in the city - but you'll need to ask for more napkins...go ahead, don't be shy. read more

I'm surprised that the tacos are this good and decently priced in Williamsburgh - all around, not awesome, but definitely decent. I was pleased with my pre-bar carne asada tacos for 2.50 each, though I think we traumatized the woman running the taco truck by refusing to take styrofoam plates (bad bad bad styrofoam!). However, everything about my tacos was goodness and light, as I made my way down Bedford dripping with pork juice. Taco Morelos is a good late night alternative to pizza and whatnot in Williamsburgh. I would love to go back sometime and try their torta - my favourite Mexican food of all time. At Taco Morelos, for $2.50, I could choose different tacos like chicken, goat, beef, pork and more. I'm a carne asada type of girl, so I went with a beef taco. I was asked if I wanted everything on it, and this included cilantro,, onions, avocado sauce and a spicy sauce. The guy went easy on the spicy sauce, and even after I dumped more spicy sauce on it, there still wasn't much of a kick to it. I found the taco to be good though, and I really enjoyed the avocado sauce on it. Compared to other street tacos though, it wasn't that big. Most of the meat could be contained in the soft tortillas, and unlike recent taco truck experiences, you could pretty much eat it all in a few bites. At the last taco truck I visited, the meat was so plentiful, it didn't fit in the taco shell, and as a result, I was picking it off my plate at 2:30 am. This did not happen at Morelos, but maybe I became classy in just a few nights. Overall, Tacos Morelos was good, but not a reason to go to Williamsburg if you are craving tacos. And even if I was in Williamsburg, there are some cheap Mexican restaurants that may be worth a visit instead. I will argue though that if you have a few beers and stop by Morelos, it'll definitely curb your hunger. read more

2.5 stars I've eaten here twice. The first time I had a forgettable chicken taco that rated about 2 stars. The second time, I ordered a goat quesadilla, which apart from being too salty and a little drippy from the watered-down sauces they squirt all over the meat, was a solid 3-star item for $3.00. Two reasons I love these guys: 1) it's really fun to try to say the word "tlacoyo" when you're bombed 2) when you order a carnitas burrito, there are random chunks of seared pork fat in there... and seared pork fat is far more awesome than you probably think Minus one star for inconsistency--you'll have an amazing meal if the right person is running the grill, and just an OK meal if you catch them on a bad day. But tlacoyos (thick torpedo of grilled cornmeal, topped with beans, cheese, onions, hot salsa, etc.) are amazing, even if you sound like a slurring fool trying to order one. read more

Great greasy tacos! These guys just appeared in front of the Salvation army. They set up a few rickety stools and boom, instant N7th mexican. The tlacoyos are awesome. Cheesy masa like pizza. The goat is ok, the carnitas are fatty boombalati (kinda gross), and the Al pastor is pretty good. I hope they stick around, its a great cheap taco option right off the L. read more

I know tacos are in vogue (and rightfully so) but when I get Mexican I like to go for one of two things: an order of sopes, or a torta. Unfortunately I haven't tried the sopes at this classic stand yet, but I popped in for a torta enchilada (spicy pork sandwich) on my way to the L train. The torta was good, but certainly not the best I've had in the city. The meat didn't have a crazy amount of flavor to begin with, and it was overpowered by the taste of the beans. Also didn't taste a whole lot of avo or the white cheese. Overall just a bit bland for my taste. That said, a decent value, and the guys working the truck are super nice. read more

The best cheap tacos in Williamsburg, and the best of it's kind since Matamoros Puebla closed down a couple years ago. I like the carnitas (pork), enchilada (spicy pork) and the lengua (tongue). I also recommend the cemitas sandwiches. The way they serve their burritos -- with crema, cheese and salsa poured over the top -- doesn't really make for easy street eating, so maybe stick to the more traditional Mexican items. The tlacoyos are good too, thicker masa cakes with cheese and salsa...very craveable. Nice folks running the cart too. Way better than Mexican Summer cart. read more

Cheap, fast, and delicious. I eat here 1-3 times a week, it is right on my way home and perfect when I've had a long day and am feeling too lazy to make anything. I generally alternate between getting two veggie tacos (filling without putting you into a coma) and the veggie burrito (when you haven't eaten all day and/or you just feel like knocking yourself out). Unfortunately, at times the quality is inconsistent and varies depending on who is working. Still, even when it's 'off', it's still pretty damn awesome and hits the spot. read more

Best Mexican place EVER! I've tried various places in Brooklyn and honestly, none compare. Their tostadas are absolutely delicious and will change your life (I usually have tinga-spicy chicken). Such a shame. This was an island in the sea of crappy Mexican food that is NYC. For over 6 years, one of my go-to's at both trucks (Williamsburg and E Village) was a chicken tinga quesadilla. Today, this truck had a fresh paint job and design and a new $8 price on the quesadilla, up from $3!! But the real shame is the quesadilla itself: now it's flour instead of corn, it's there's no oil/butter in the outside, there's no more lettuce inside, and no more of the wonderfully chewy Oaxaca cheese. And the tinga itself was dry and flavorless, compared with the former version that was stewed and sitting a flavorful sauce. Oh--and now if you say "yes" when they ask if you want hot sauce, it goes on the OUTSIDE, making eating it a sloppy mess. It was like a completely different truck (and actually literally probably is). I'll miss you Morelos. read more

Every time I see a cart/truck, I can't help but order something even if I'm full. I didn't know that this cart existed until my hubs informed me. I finally got around to getting one and it was amazing! Probably the best street taco's I've ever had. I've only tried the chicken so far. It's moist and super flavorful. Be careful when eating here. The cashier charged my card $18.71 for a $9 burrito (i didn't see this charge until the next day when looking at my credit card statement). Such a great location for this food truck, amidst the buzz of the Williamsburg bar scene. So glad they serve soft tacos by default, because I can't stand the hard-shell variety. I am a fan of Taco Morelos, because of their perfect location near the L Train and my girlfriends old apartment. Unfortunately, she doesn't live as close, but still walkable on a more dedicated taco adventure. I have only had the tacos, but I thought they were pretty good for a small cart/van thing. $2.50 is a great price for any style and they are very filling. Even though I am not a vegetarian, I think they might be the best ones they make. A nice squeeze of lime, ask for some cheese, and throw some hot sauce on and you're good to go. Three tacos for $7.50. Stop at the corner store for some beer and my night has a successful beginning. read more

You must be kidding me. Not sure how this place has a fan base. I ordered a taco with chicken. Simple stuff. It looked great. Good tortilla (not flour based and starchy) .... no sour cream, cheddar cheese, all the stuff that Mexican's don't really put on their tacos....sure thats great. BUT, the chicken was gross...period. It was fatty and chewy, as if they used all of the chicken including those not-so-appealing chewy pieces nobody wants in their mouth. No thanks. Pass. Why bother with this spot when La superior, or Cerveceria Havemeyer, are nearby. These tacos were delicious! My friends and I stopped at this truck for a late night snack and I'm SO GLAD we did! I got a chicken taco and a beef taco. The beef was out of this world. I loved the presentation in the to-go box as well, two slices of radish and a lime wedge for each taco; nice touch. They changed all the recipes!!! Use to be my favorite go-to taco spot in the whole neighborhood because it wasn't a watered down version of Mexican food. They ditched the oaxaca cheese for some bland type (is it CHEDDER???). No more cotija cheese powdered on top. No more guacamole taquero, now it's just guacamole. They even changed the hot sauce to be less spicy! On top of everything they raised the prices (which would be no problem if they hadn't changed the recipes). I'm so sad, I use to eat from this truck twice a week and now why go out of my way to get bland calexico style tacos when calexico is closer to me. read more

Williamsburg tends to not have fast food chains, which is totally a good thing. That leaves you with much better food options. Tacos Morelos is definitely a quality replacement for Chipotle...similar prices, and great ingredients that are worth the wait for. I got a steak burrito, which came with creamy guac and a spicy sauce that was the right amount of hot. Locations in Jackson Heights and East Village as well, so check 'em out! read more

Really good tacos al pastor - the best I've had in NYC so far. The meat is well marinated and charred, and the sauces (green and spicy) are great. But I'm not in love with their burritos - they have a tendency to have too much rice and not enough cheese and meat. read more

This is my favorite food truck in NYC so far! Went here with my friend after a night of drinking. I got two tostadas, one chicken and one beef. She got two chicken tacos I believe and chips & salsa. My tostadas were amazing! I've been craving them ever since. She said her tacos were good. And the chips & salsa was pretty good too. Two loaded up tostadas for $8 is a deal for me. Love this Taco Truck! The staff are courtesy and fast considering the popularity at times. I've been mid-afternoon, early evening, and LATE night and have almost always been served quickly. The prices are cheap and the tacos are tasty. I have only ordered the tacos and in just about every way they offer them. All good but I especially like the goat and spicy pork.
