What a cute little hole-in-the-wall spot I found. Highly recommend! On Cinco De Mayo, I went to go visit my favorite Mexican restaurant and unfortunately, not to my surprise, it was an 90 minute ish wait for 2 of us. Unfortunately, as much as I love the food there and the ambience, especially on Cinco de Mayo, I was starving! I remembered around the corner there was a restaurant that had been recommended in the past, but I never got the chance to check out. Being that I was in the area, I figured let's give this spot a try. Lo and behold, El Pueblo was only six minutes down the road! There was a 20 minute wait, but I was greeted kindly by the staff, and when I walked in you could tell this place was super authentic. The decor was super vibrant and music was bumping. They do not have alcohol, but they have coronas and a margarita type glass premixed for purchase. That held us over for the time being. The chips and salsa were phenomenal. The salsa had some type of sweet pepper flavor to it and you could tell it was homemade. My friend got three tacos with rice and beans and I got the flautas you were able to choose your own meat, which was really cool no extra charge. The BEST queso birria tacos in the orlando area. I've tried others at several mexican restaurants and these are SUPERIOR. Usually, they fall apart really fast, but not these delicious bundles of joy. This place is a great hole in the wall. I would have never went in if it wasn't for a word of mouth recommendation. The seating is limited however the service is very quick so don't expect to wait too long. My son and I got a melon aqua fresca and we got a whole pitcher to ourselves. We both ordered tacos and were so impressed with the flavor. You can tell that this is an authentic place where they really respect their culture and food. This is the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been too! I was visiting for one week and went here three times. The service is the best I've ever had anywhere. My husband and I tried out this restaurant on a Thursday night and were seated immediately. It's a small restaurant with only 6 tables, but like I said no wait time. The plaza it's located in does feel a little sketchy but no one bothered us going in or out. There's free chips and salsa upon request, when we requested them they brought out a small basket of chips that looked and tasted store bought. We ordered the sopes appetizer which was really good, but served on a disposable plate which I've never experienced in a restaurant before. They had good water it tasted filtered and clean. Our entrees were really delicious I had the chicken burrito and it had a nice flavor my husband also enjoyed his entree. The prices were really good with both our entrees costing $11 a piece and the appetizer $3.50. Overall it's a great price for some good food, I can't give 5 stars because of the chips and disposable plate though. read more

I've been in Orlando for over 20 years and have driven past this place many times. I had no idea it existed. The shopping plaza does look a little sketchy but don't let that deter you. They have authentic Mexican dishes that are worth trying. Inside is small but bright and colorful. Luckily we were able to grab a table quickly. Caution! Their portion sizes are big so be warned. Their chips and salsa is different from your typical Mexican establishments but I enjoyed them. I ordered 2 chicken sopes for an appetizer and guacamole. I could barely finish 1 sopes because it was very filling. The guacamole was amazing! I almost went back the next day just for the guacamole! For my entree I ordered beef enchiladas with red sauce. This was my least favorite out of everything. It needed more flavor in my opinion. The enchiladas came covered in cheese but needed more flavor and salt. The rice was yummy and the beans were good too. One thing that threw me off was that it came with roasted red potatoes. I've never seen that with Mexican dishes. Listen this place has been a surprise hit for me. I checked it out due to the reviews on yelp and me and one of my girlie's went to check it out. I love the cute decor and Walmart that was well done. The staff was courteous and so quick to take our orders and the food came out pretty quick. The food quality was fresh and did not disappoint. I loved the salsa verde and rojo the right amount of spice and flavor. The food came out hot and the tacos came with fresh juicy limes. Chicken was juicy and flavorful in the tacos and in the flautas too. I literally devoured both plates. Lol I will save this gem for future ventures. I have driven by El Pueblo Mexican Restaurant quite a few times and always wanted to stop by. It is located in a shady looking shopping plaza that is in need of not only a face-lift, but this shopping plaza could stand with a good cleaning and picking up the garbage strewn throughout the parking lot. Where others might want to avoid a shopping plaza like this, this Mexican restaurant being in here made me want to try it even more. I have long held onto the belief that the best Mexican food comes from these little hole-in-the-wall type places. The staff here was friendly and enhanced my overall experience. I ended up going with two tacos and a gordita. For the tacos, I went with a carne asada taco and a chorizo taco and for the gordita, I went with the carnitas filling. I would say that the carne asada was my favorite protein and sadly, I thought the chorizo was the weakest. Chorizo is usually my favorite, the chorizo here was just too strong of, I don't know, maybe too much worcestershire (that's the impression that I got). But still, all in all this was a great stop. I would definitely recommend this hole-in-the-wall type restaurant and I will be back. I will give it five stars. read more

Best authentic Mexican in central Florida. I don't say that lightly, but it's undeniable. Their main dishes like chilaquiles and mole chicken are hard to find at Tex Mex places, and the a la carte options like street tacos, sopes and authentic gorditas are on par with the best authentic Mexican street food around. They get a lot of to go orders, so we may do that next time. We sat at one of the booths and got a server right away. She was nice, friendly and got our order right away. We did not get chips and salsa, so not sure if it is their practice or maybe given upon request. We did not ask and not bothered to not have them. We ordered the grilled steak with onions, rice, beans and salad, a chicharron taco (spicy), a pastor taco (super tasty) and 2 chicken sopes (chicken tasted yummy). This is a very tiny place in a rundown strip mall, but don't let that stop you from trying their food. I mostly order takeout out, having eaten inside only once. The food is authentic and delicious. I normally try the sopes and gorditas. Both are incredibly tasty. I have tried their carnitas, al pastor, chorizo and chicken. I have never had a bad meal with El Pueblo. I got pozole and our little one got carne asada tacos. We also ordered some guacamole and chips. Their chips have a different texture and taste to them. I really enjoyed them compared to the overly fried tortilla chips you'd get at most restaurants. The food was...*chefs kiss*! Perfect. Service was on point. We need to go back to get their pitchers of agua frescas. We saw other tables getting them while we were eating so we decided to get them next time. We came here because the reviews were good and honestly, from the outside I would never have guessed it would have been good! But once you enter, you know this place is authentic! The decor is classically Mexican but so was the lack of air conditioning, I felt like I was transported back to Mexico heat! The service was prompt and friendly. The chips were definitely from a bag which I was a little disappointed considering the authenticity of the place. The steak quesadilla had a great taste. The hard taco shells were ok, but really greasy for my taste. And honestly, the taco filling, rice, or beans didn't have a ton of flavor. Both my mom and I had heartburn a few hours later. We were in town to see Crypta and decided to stop at Boston's Fish House but there was a line. We didn't feel like waiting and thankfully we didn't because we ended up walking just down the street to something so much better at el Pueblo! Fortunately there was one booth left for us in this little cozy place. I don't know what it was, but this was one of the best Mexican restaurants I have eaten in. I had the chicken flautas with rice and beans. The chicken was so damn flavorful!! It was exceptionally flavorful! The rice had a couple of slices of avocado on it and I have no idea what was different but the refried beans tasted heavenly. Refried beans are refried beans, right? I always thought so until I tasted these. The cheese on top flautas was so tasty with the onion....just the little touches proved the meal was made with pride. The salsa that came with our chip was really good too. I don't know if it even could be called salsa but it was great. Since everyone, staff and customers, was speaking Spanish I felt compelled to try but got nervous and ended up sounding like a complete goober. Our server was nice enough not to laugh at me. El Pueblo is the true definition of a prime hole-in-the-wall. If you don't know it's there, you're definitely passing it. There's nothing but pure authentic Mexican food here. It is beautifully decorated with six booths. We went for lunch, and definitely glad we got there early to beat the rush. It's clearly no secret! They have a super extensive menu. Of course I had to order guacamole to go along with the complimentary chips and salsa. I got the chicken flautas. They were fried to perfection covered in lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, cheese, and avocado. The verde chicken enchiladas were enjoyed as well. I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered the pineapple aqua fresca and it came in the size of a mini pitcher that could have been for two. It was definitely fresh, filled with pineapple bits.
