Nom nom noms! Solid taco place, family owned (expect hours to vary because of this, one time I was banking on some yummy tacos and they were on a fishing trip!) Meats here are good! Tacos are corn based tortilla- only reason they get a four instead of a five is depending on the taco, sometimes they double up, sometimes they don't. When they don't double up on the tortilla, if the insides are too wet, they break apart and you have a hearty mess. They have daily specials, and they're normally very good. Drinks are great too, many of them homemade! Most tacos will also come with some chips and a very small container of salsa (could be bigger). Overall, great place! Some minor suggestions for improvements, but I'm happy this place is so close! read more

I happened upon Cilantro's while at Hourglass Brewing and wasn't really feeling any of the food truck options they had that night. As a sodo local with gringos, tin and taco, and black rooster all a stone's throw away, I was really impressed! While most a la carte tacos are averaging close to $5 a piece nowadays, the tacos here ranged between $3-4 and came with chips and house made salsa, both classic and verde. I LOVED the salsa verde, more sweet than spicy!! I got fish, shrimp and carne asada taco, all were delicious. I'm assuming white meat tacos come with cojita cheese and red meat tacos come with more of a shredded blend. It is walk-up style ordering; you pay using the new iPad POS systems which we all hate but oh well it's the way of the future, and you seat yourself with a ticket number. You can tell it is a family owned and operated establishment. The same man that took our order came to check on us while we ate, and staff preparing the food also participated in delivering food to the table. read more

Cilantro's offers Mexican and Tex Mex style dishes plus empanadas. We didn't order their tacos (not sure anything will quite compare to the tacos I had on the street in Mexico City). I chose good ole Tex-Mex fajitas. While the seasoning was good, the portions were small. The young man at the counter who sold us the special of the day didn't mention the sides were separate. I saw fajita dinner on the menu and thought it was the option I would get fajitas with rice and beans. He didn't ask me if it was my preference, I asked for the fajitas. He ordered a single fajita. The inside was clean and had nice art displays. I enjoyed the art and music the most. However, the soda machine only served caffeine free Diet Coke. I improvised and mixed it with a tad of regular Coke but it wasn't the same. Overall, I chose this restaurant due to its high Yelp reviews/scores and food pics. The burrito would have been the best thing to try but I didn't know. I wasn't sure why a Mexican place served fajitas so I was curious. The single fajita was good but not too filling. Cilantros is a gem of a restaurant in the Curry Ford/Hourglass District area. The owner, Edward, is always there and so friendly and helpful whenever we visit. I am not typically a beef taco fan but do not sleep on the beef tacos at Cilantro's! They are out of this world. All their tacos come with chips and tasty homemade salsa. My daughter loves their cheese empanadas. They always have great combination specials on the board up front. There is a hot sauce bar and a fountain station, along with coolers with awesome selection of Mexican sodas, beer and other beverages. They also have fresh agua frescas available. 2 of us ordered today's special of a fajita chicken taco, a carnitas taco, a cheese empanada (I may have the name of that wrong), chips with a perfect sized salsa side for the amount of chips, and a drink. Great deal! Great choice! The food there is amazingly fresh and delicious. The place is smallish, but does have room for several groups of 6 or 7 with nice high top tables. Also has a couple smaller tables. The kitchen is right there, and everything is absolutely spotless. (Even the bathroom is spotless!) Not really in our neighborhood, but very easy access for workers in the downtown area, surrounding neighborhoods, or anyone with business at OH or anywhere downtown. Cilantro's is authentic, fresh and has a super cool atmosphere. The servers were friendly and the service is super quick. My dad and I went here together and we got the fish tacos (my dads favorite- he goes there often) and they sure did not disappoint. The fish was cooked to perfection and had a nice crisp on it. I really liked their salsa and that they give you a lime wedge was a nice touch.I've also tried a steak burrito and that is excellent as well. Next time I would get an order of their guacamole as well, that looked delish! It also comes with chips! It was delicious and the carne asada meat was very delicious! Tender and seasoned well. Had hints of grilled flavor. For the price I expected a bigger burrito. Would order this burrito again regardless. The fish taco is Mahi. Its a big portion of fish. It is grilled fish not fried and it's fresh. It tasted fresh. Simple toppings bundled in a flour tortilla. This was also seasoned well and it was delicious. Definitely I will order again. The horchata was served in a plastic to go cup and it wasn't from a fountain or agua fresca huge container. It was not the best horchata I tasted. It needed more cinnamon and thinner consistency. I would not order it again. The chips. You only get less than 10 pcs of tortillas chips. It was not even a handful. This to me was unbelievable the price you pay for a meal here and chips are cheap to make, They could offer more chips per meal order. They offer lunch specials. Don't let the nondescript location fool you. This is a yummy spot with good tacos and quesadillas and other mexican street-style bites. We recently enjoyed the skirt steak tacos (such a good quacamole cream sauce) and the carnitas tacos. The specials were generous--3 tacos and a drink and chips. And well portioned taco filling. The steak tacos were a little bit overly peppered (as in black pepper). Service was fast and friendly. The parking can be tricky since it is a small lot. Cinco De Mayo and the joint was jumpin'! We walked here since we are in the neighborhood AND heard they had a Cinco special 3 Al Pastor tacos and either a beer or margarita for $10!!! We arrived early 'cuz we knew the place would fill up fast. We started with chips and guacamole and salsa and ordered the special. Seating is cramped but these folks turn tables quickly as they know their food and beverage biz! I am a tequila snob and a connoisseur of margaritas so don't give me some cheap heap of mix with a little alcohol on top! NO worries amigos, the margaritas we had were delicious!! So much so that we even had a second one- at $2?! Who can resist?! They do a HUGE takeout business and have daily specials. Went in on a Friday afternoon and there was only one person in there eating so we ordered and were served within minutes. Very clean facility and friendly staff. The ladies on the grill were quick and efficient with our order and our food came out hot and fresh. I think the cheese empanada was reheated though, but still delicious. The tacos were delicious and packed with meat, but the meat was a tad dry. The flavor was good though. The al pastor burrito was also a tad under seasoned and dry but the fresh veggies made up for it. The salsa and chips were so delicious though and the salsa tasted homemade. The dessert (sopaipillas) was very good but the caramel had a strange aftertaste. Overall, I have definitely had better street tacos in Orlando but the total for two us with two meals, drinks and dessert was $32 which you just can't beat. This may be the longest delayed visit ever to a restaurant on my bookmarks. I know of them since the moment they opened their doors, but they are too far from me, and honestly, I have some favorite spots for tacos and other food in the area, so it is what it is... but I finally made it and I was very surprised with the quality and flavor of the food. Now, let's make this clear: there is nothing like eating tacos in Mexico City, and Cilantro's is not the place where I find authentic delicious meats wrapped in corn tortillas. But, I must say, their stuff is pretty awesome. On my visit I got a few tacos to try, al pastor, chicken fajitas, fish and carnitas. I must say that the flavors were really good, and that the portions were very generous. However, I was a little unhappy because they do not make taco sauce/hot sauce in house, but that is fine because they still offer the very popular hot sauces that you can find at every taco shop, Mexican restaurant and supermarket. After my taco experience, I wouldn't mind trying other things on the menu and/or repeating another taco night. read more

Great service, fresh food and a fun atmosphere round out some thoughts on our lunch at Cilantro's. We had the Al Pastor burrito, carne asada burrito, chicken fajita tacos, a cheese empanada and some fresh chips, salsa and guacamole to round out our lunch. I'm leaving out one ingredient - french fries. Pro move is to add the fries with the carne asada burrito. The fries are similar to McDonald's, which is a compliment. If you don't think McDonald's are the gold standard in fries you probably prefer cauliflower fries and keep your organic ketchup in the refrigerator. Not saying we can't be friends, but I'm probably busy if you invite me to eat at your house. The Al Pastor burrito was awesome. I should have added guacamole, but we had some for the table and I added some fresh salsa also. I included a pic of the carne asada burrito with the fries added. That's my pro tip. And of course high praise from me for the Coca Cola fountain. Everyone knows Pepsi loosely translates to "poison syrup" in Spanish. Enjoy! My Standardized Yelp Ratings 5 stars - This is for a place that I see as one of the best at what they do (steaks, sandwiches, BBQ, seafood, etc). 5s are for places I've been several times (typically) at least and never had an "off" experience. The food quality, service, price and atmosphere are all going to meet or exceed expectations. 4 stars - This is for a place that is good, I would drive a little out of the way to go, and the food and service is good, but maybe not amazing. Also for me, this could also be a great place that serves Pepsi products - automatic 1 star loss - bad management decision. 3 stars - This is for a place that I view as standard. Nothing special, nothing lousy, not a place you'd avoid like the plague, but a place that is not one you really look forward to either. 2 stars - This is for a place that had something go wrong or something perpetually wrong. The food and or service is likely consistently suspect here (they probably serve Pepsi too). 1 star - I can't see wasting time writing a review on a place that gets a 1 star. Still don't know why I haven't been here before!? This place delivers a hole in the wall taco shop feel without the fear of food borne illness lol The owner and staff were very friendly. Since it's located in the Hourglass District I thought parking might be an issue on a busy day, but we had no issue. The tacos were delicious and the prices were very affordable. Really enjoyed the al pastor with their fresh house-made smokey red and spicy green salsa. The kids chicken tenders basket for $4 was a steal. Inside is a counter to order, then a small dining space with high & low-tops plus a variety of self-serve hot sauces. I am a burrito gal so naturally, that is what I had to try here for my first time. I ordered a straightforward chicken burrito with added pico de gallo. The chicken was marinated nicely but I feel like something was still missing! It needed some acidity in spite of me adding pico! I don't know what it was but something was certainly incomplete about the flavor profile. Forgot to take a photo, but I really enjoyed my order of two tacos: one shrimp and one fish. The fish was a large and meaty cut, and the portion of shrimp was likewise generous. The tortillas were as good as any I've had in a while, and everything was nicely seasoned, spiced, and presented. Service was very friendly and quick, and prices were reasonable (though its early 2022, and I'm unsure how much anything is supposed to cost anymore!) Muy bueno. This is a little gem in the "still under construction" hourglass district on Curry Ford Road. They are making this area into a "Winter Park style" walk around the streets area, but that will take some time. There is a brewery, a pizzeria and a coffee shop nearby. We were actually exploring for something to eat and remembered that this place was adjacent to "old style" looking Mobil gas station and the Foxtail Coffee shop. The place is small and well decorated. The service is friendly and helpful. The food... well let's say I bought the daily special which was a carnitas quesadilla with chips and a drink. It was very good, but the BEST is the homemade salsa... they have two squeeze bottles (green and red)... choose your poison!!!! I cannot give the place 5 stars yet since I have only had one plate, but am looking forward to trying the flautas. read more
