We come to Old Orchard Beach just about every year, and have for ages, as our family vacations nearby and the kids love the rides at Palace Playland. You find the usual burgers/hot dogs/fries stands and pizza joints, but my husband and I love Mexican food and decided to give this one a try a few years back. These are some of the freshest and most flavorful tacos I've ever eaten. You get 2 tacos for $12. Each one has meat of your choice, lettuce, pico de gallo, cheese, rice, black beans, and sour cream (which I have them omit). The taco is like a mini-burrito, and the tortilla comes grilled, which adds a lovely toasty flavor and some extra crunch to the texture. The pair of tacos is served with a helping of tortilla chips, which taste like they're house-made. I've paid more for less (and worse) food. The only bad thing about this food is the last bite. And knowing that we have to wait a whole year before we get to eat it again. Also, Tortilla Sunrise is showing up as closed, and I just ate there this evening, so I can assure you that it is not.

Also the Taste of Mexico, which was a huge platter of various items. Our dinner companion sister that everything was tasty and a big plate of leftovers came home, too. Our only complaint was the timing of the dishes coming out of the kitchen. The entrees came out at really widely spaced times. Tequila Frogs menu is half Mexican food and half BBQ, so I thought I'd be able to find something on the menu. The Mexican food was simply not good, and I would not come back here. I ordered the guacamole burrito. It said it comes with pico but I promise there was no pico in that burrito. I also asked if they could add peppers and onions to the burrito. They said they had no peppers but would put onions, but they did not. It was rice beans and guac. Very mushy, bland, not very filling, not good. On the other hand, my family loved the BBQ ribs they ordered. So, maybe if you come here only for the BBQ half of the menu, then it's worth it. Meaning, there is nothing here for vegetarians or vegans. They have a big patio for sitting outside, as well as a lot of indoor seating and a bar. I love being able to sit outside and people watch at the pier. The music was so loud that it was hard to hold conversations though. Also the women's bathroom was out of soap. Overall a bit disappointing.

They also operate a small lunch/dinner sometimes brunch truck as well. Two locations usually. They have a smaller menu but don't be fooled. Since the menu is smaller they can focus solely on that menu. Focus they do! It's very very good food and a healthy portion of food as well. From the gouda Mac and cheese with fried onions to the absolutely amazing fried chicken sandwich with Maine maple glaze and everything in between... to die for!! They also have the most amazing red potatoes. They fry them up as "smashed spuds" and they're so so good! I go there sometimes just for those !
