My rational for the four of five stars is that the overall taco had everything it needed to be phenomenal, but fell a little short. When I think of ahi tuna I think of a tight sear, this was cubbed and cooked tuna that probably didn't need to be sushi grade. A few thin slices of a tight seared tuna would have greatly enhanced these tacos. Additionally, the slaw was made from broccoli, which is great being a firm texture to counter the soft pineapple; however, the prep of the slaw included some very fibrous bits that needed to be removed while chewing. To recap, I will for sure be hitting up this taco shack before we leave again. It is a breath of fresh air in a gallery of fried food.

The food was prepared in short order and was really fresh. Great tastes and flavors in all of the items we ordered. We may have waited 10-15 minutes, but not any longer, as they were on it! Preparation time was quick. One drawback is the seating situation. It just requires you to be creative, like sitting at the benches across from the food stand (nearest the Ferris wheel) or go to the tables in the park area in front of the entrance to the Pier (to the right of the food stand), as there are several tables and chairs there for using to eat, if available. I had the tequi-changa, which was a take on a chimichanga. It was huge and came on a sizzling platter. Really tasty. We also had fllautas which were crispy and tasty! Also the Taste of Mexico, which was a huge platter of various items. Our dinner companion sister that everything was tasty and a big plate of leftovers came home, too. Our only complaint was the timing of the dishes coming out of the kitchen. The entrees came out at really widely spaced times. Tequila Frogs menu is half Mexican food and half BBQ, so I thought I'd be able to find something on the menu. The Mexican food was simply not good, and I would not come back here. I ordered the guacamole burrito. It said it comes with pico but I promise there was no pico in that burrito. I also asked if they could add peppers and onions to the burrito. They said they had no peppers but would put onions, but they did not. It was rice beans and guac. Very mushy, bland, not very filling, not good. On the other hand, my family loved the BBQ ribs they ordered. So, maybe if you come here only for the BBQ half of the menu, then it's worth it. Meaning, there is nothing here for vegetarians or vegans. They have a big patio for sitting outside, as well as a lot of indoor seating and a bar. I love being able to sit outside and people watch at the pier. The music was so loud that it was hard to hold conversations though. Also the women's bathroom was out of soap. Overall a bit disappointing.

When the food did arrive, part of the order was missing because "it went to someone else." WTF? Also, as an insult to injury, the menu has items listed as gluten free. We have a symptomatic celiac with us and when we mention one person needed to be gluten free the waitress kinda said "uh ok" which wasn't confidence inspiring. And clearly there is cross contact because our family member doesn't feel good after ordering simple nachos (marked GF). Look, restaurants are hard, I know. But maybe this place used to be good? Why was it so packed? The food that we did end up getting was mediocre, like it all came from US Foods or Sysco. Other than the lobster presumably. But everything was your basic "throw it in a fryer" type stuff you get anywhere else. I haven't left a zero percent tip in 20 years, but tonight, they earned it.

They also operate a small lunch/dinner sometimes brunch truck as well. Two locations usually. They have a smaller menu but don't be fooled. Since the menu is smaller they can focus solely on that menu. Focus they do! It's very very good food and a healthy portion of food as well. From the gouda Mac and cheese with fried onions to the absolutely amazing fried chicken sandwich with Maine maple glaze and everything in between... to die for!! They also have the most amazing red potatoes. They fry them up as "smashed spuds" and they're so so good! I go there sometimes just for those ! Inside Mick's there's a bar and you can grab a drink with your food. I can't say it enough, if you haven't already get down there and try this menu. You will not be sorry!! The guys in the kitchen work hard for every order and are sweet and pleasant!! Check them out!!
