I had an amazing lobster roll here and will definitely be back! This spot can't be beat in terms of location and quality. Right on the main road, just steps from the beach. There's several tables in front so you can enjoy the food right there if you'd rather not get it to go. It's got a really nice feel for how small it is- I think the small white picket fence out front adds a nice touch. I had the $15 lobster roll from the pier the day before and while it got the job done, Johnny Shucks is well worth the extra money for full claws and all around fresh, juicy, hot meat! I also got a glass of wine for $5 and it was a generous pour, washed down the roll perfectly! The clam chowder is flavorful as well, a little on the thinner side but served piping hot. The clam chowder was down right delicious; the only thing that could have made it nearly perfect was if it had more clams and potatoes. I enjoyed the lobster roll very much. Even though I wish the roll was a tad larger, that tiny little bread boat was packed full of quality chunks of lobster. I tried MANY lobster rolls on this vacation and many of the rolls I wouldn't have again, but Johnny Shucks was one of the better ones. This is an outdoor eating only joint in Old Orchard beach, but no beach view here. Order at counter and pick up when number called. We both decided on the fish and chips and choose this place due to the favorable Yelp reviews. The fish portion was generous, but the fish was not fresh tasting and was a bit dry and not flaky. Waffle fries are served in place of the tradiontional straight cut "chips" and were seasoned with some spices that didn't go with the fish. Clearly everything is made from frozen. The tarter sauce was Ken's pre-made and not at all good. It's a crime to not have an in house made tarter sauce! Service was fine and prices comparable to nearby establishments. We would not choose to come here again for fish and chips and would not recommend. read more

We were seated by a hostess with no menus. Once she came back, we ordered two drinks. After 10 min the bartender came over with menus and we let her know someone had already seated us and took our order and then described our drink order to her. She had already made them and we saw them sitting on the counter for over 10mins. Neither the bartender nor the server brought them. After all the ice melted we walked up to the bar and asked for them ourselves. The bathrooms were filled with scraps of toilet paper and the trash was overflowing. All of this while I observed FOUR employees sitting at booths or leaning against walls on their phones. We definitely won't be back. I do not like Lobster so I cannot tell you how the Lobster Roll was, but my family said it was delicious. My Fish and Chips were very delicious, seasoned to perfection, and the fish had a good crust on it. The fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was able to hold onto the fish. I find that many restaurants have that problem with their fish. I would definitely recommend trying this establishment out and the staff are super friendly and helpful. read more

Wow! What an out of the way unexpected great food experience. We had the lobster bisque, clam chowder, and lobster roll and all three were some of the best that we've had on our visit to Maine. We went to this place thinking we were going to get the freshest fish in Maine. The fish looked as it was previously frozen and it was definitely processed. It was so dry and tasteless. The haddock sandwich had one piece of lettuce and a dap of tarter sauce and the fish tacos were so small and had a tiny amount of haddock. The price was not cheap for what we got and if you wanted their so called fries they charged $5 more. Shameless. Needless to say we were still hungry. We were better off going to McDonalds for a fillet of fish sandwich and would have saved so much money plus we could have had french fries on the side. I mentioned to the girl behind the counter that we were not happy with the quality and quantity, the girl could care less and blew me off.
