My go to place for tacos in Union City. We come here every Tuesday's for their $1.50 taco special! Be aware though- the lines do get very long especially if you come right around noon. We try to get there around 11:45am before the lunch rush. I love that they don't charge extra for specialty meat and have a wide range of selection. My favorites are lengua, cabaza, buche, and asada. Make sure to order from the cashier, and not the kiosks- for some reason the kiosks charges more for specialty meat. As you enter you feel like you're at taco spot in Mexico with the metal tables and chairs and walls decorated with great quotes and souvenirs. They offer plenty on their menu and have special deals too. You order at the counter and seat yourself. Service was okay. Not many people dining in but a lot of pick up orders. The sopes: Got 2 carnitas sopes and the meat was perfect. Soft but with a slight crisp and the flavor was all there. Plenty of cheese that caused a nice cheese pull. The steak nachos: They use shredded mozzarella but I don't think it was enough. A lot of the chips were bare and the ones that had it were dried out. The guac and sour cream balanced it out. The tacos: We got asada, chicken, and buche. Your average yellow tortilla perfectly oiled and heated up. I do feel like they skimped on the amount of meat they put on the asada tacos and the quality of the meat wasn't the best as there was a lot of fatty pieces. The winning meat was definitely the buche. It was fried just right and had a lot of flavor. The chicken was also very well seasoned and juicy. The green salsa was superior to the red salsa. It had a good heat level that wasn't overpowering like the red one. I appreciated that they added the pickled veggies on the side. Overall, a solid taco and sope spot. The asada meat had so much fatty hard parts and was lacking flavor. And then throughout it had hard parts of cheese. Textures going crazy!! It wasn't big and was uniformly thick, the charring on the tortilla was also very even. Kid loved it but he was also very huntry. Al Pastor Combo Plate: Rice was a bit dry, beans were OK. My wife loves a lot of vegetables so the overfilled onions and cilantro were great for her but its not for everyone. Asada Tacos: A decent asada, I really like their house made salsa, haven't tasted one like it before. Food was good but the total wait time for this pretty standard order was 50 minutes! There is plenty of seating inside and there are 2 kiosks to order as well as a cashier that can help you. This is a more casual establishment, but the ambience is nice. The cashier was friendly and helped give a few recommendations. The fish taco which was recommended wasn't bad, but I wasn't a fan of the shrimp taco. Neither of the seafood meats tastes fresh and the shrimp seemed like just batter with not much if any meat to it. The fish were like nuggets not something that looked fresh made. Neither of the seafood meats tastes was what I was expecting, but the fish one wasn't bad. If I come back I would try the birria which seems to be more of what they are known for. Driving in traffic, I started getting hungry and wanted to eat in the car on my way to Niles Canyon Road so I be off the side and walked into Tacos Papo. There was plenty of free parking and when I walked into the restaurant, it was super clean and I really like how it was decorated. The cashier was very nice when he was taking my order and answering my million questions. I accidentally walked in on a taco Tuesday which meant that tacos are half off!! I had a long ride ahead of me, so I ordered an asada taco, cabeza taco, and a pastor taco. I also ordered a Jamaica aguas fresca. I also requested a few of the spiciest hot sauce to go and I'm glad that I did. This place has officially become our go-to taco spot. The space is clean and nicely decorated with simple, modern touches. The have self-service kiosks in the front so it was quick and easy to order. You can also call in to order for pick up. They have a great Taco Tuesday deal - $1.50 per taco and $2 for the more specialty meats, which is hard to beat. The food is consistently good. The burritos and platters are solid, but the real stars are the tacos. They even have great veggie tacos that are loaded with veggies, guac, sour cream and cheese. The meats on the meat tacos are well seasoned and stay juicy, which honestly don't need much more than salsa, onions, and cilantro. ATTENTION TO OWNER!!! Been coming here with my family and been a supporter since this place first opened. Last 5 times we have ordered the tortilla's were very stale to the point where it's inedible because it's so hard. The taco meat was very chewey/overcooked and had no flavor. The Mexican rice was stale, had no flavor and tasted like it came frozen before being served. The carne asada fries were soggy wet and lacked meat and toppings. The green enchiladas sauce tasted like it was straight from a can with no effort whatsoever preparing it. I ordered three carne asada tacos with everything. The meat was fresh and well-seasoned, but the tortilla wasn't warmed all the way through--and if you keep reading, you'll see why that detail mattered. I'm not the type to send food back, especially at smaller establishments, so I thugged it out. The sauce situation is simple: a green sauce and a thicker red sauce (the spicy one). On their own, both sauces are mid. But once I blended them together? That's when the magic happened. The combo delivered the perfect balance of heat, flavor, and an even texture overall to the tacos. Now, here's probably why the tortilla was cold. At the time, I was one of maybe four customers in the place. Somehow, I missed the young lady--who also took my order--calling my number to let me know my food was ready. Eventually she said, "Your order's been ready," and I'm thinking... oh--okay. Would've been nice to know. I grabbed my tray and began the taste test. Two tables over, a couple was waiting on their food, and the moment the cook set their order down, that same young lady personally walked it over and hand-delivered it to their table. Tuh. Ok this place right here makes the absolute BEST salsa verde EVER. Right now and at all times, both at home and at my "other" home (fire station) I have their salsa verde in the fridge. Came here for the Taco Tuesday $1.50 tacos. Between two of us, we ordered 6 tacos (al pastor, carne asada, cabeza), horchata, and a modelo. Total came out to about $21. We initially sat in the back corner table, but soon realized it was the hottest area to sit at. There didn't seem to be any AC or circulating air. They would benefit from having some fans or something. Ended up moving to a different table near the door and it was noticeably cooler. I ordered a Quesabirria and the 3 Taco Combo. The quesabirria was good, but the broth was bland; it needed more seasoning and aromatics. The tacos were delicious. The meat was tender and had great flavor. The taco combo had rice and beans, which I did not care for since the taste was unflavorful and dry. They also had generous portions. I placed my order online on Tuesday for the taco Tuesday deal and was told that this will take 35 minutes but my order was ready before that! The only order system was simple and easy. I had a smooth interaction when picking my order. The inside had many tables for dining in and everything was clean. I saw many kiosk for ordering. I got 5 asada tacos and they were extremely flavorful! I actually got a big piece of tendon for one of my tacos and it was so hard to chew, but overall they give you a good amount of meat and sauce. Here we go again! Stopped by for a small "breakfast" with my Darling since we were at the Newark Costco. Today we got only a super Cabeza burrito and a large watermelon aguas frescas. Came here for Taco Tuesday and it was jam-packed! Literally every seat was taken. Since they expanded there are more tables for dining in but seems as though their popularity has grown as well. I know they're family-owned and so the kitchen can get backed up when there are nonstop orders. The food is always delicious, but you may be waiting more than 30 minutes for an order, as they seem to prioritize dine-in over takeout when things are bustling. The reason it's not a 5 star is only because the last time I was there they lost or forgot my order and it took 30 mins to get my food with 2 hungry kiddos. The prices are also a bit high for the food but I get it in this economy what isnt. I had originally tried the Birria Ramen at a Yelp event and loved it but when I brought my full family I needed to try their other food. The ramen was 10/10 specially in this cold weather. Sopes were delicious they add plenty crema, and lettuce with cheese but the star of the show is their green salsa. I can eat a bucket of that salsa on everything they give me. I also tried the Mexican hot dog. Personally I do not like sweet with savory so I could have done without so much ketchup but it was still good. My son had the quesabirrias and the tortillas really made the whole dish so much better. They make their own tortillas and they are delicious! My husband had the nacho Birria fries but he wishes he did the asada instead of Birria still pretty good. My youngest had the kids quesadilla. I was pleasantly surprised it was 2 quesadillas instead of one. With growing boys more is always better. Besides the delay in our food the service was great and the food was delicious. m and my girlfriend have been here 2-3 times before and she has been here countless times for the $1 something tacos on tuesdays. today she wanted a burrito so we came to get some burritos. I clicked on the order menu screen to see what the contents of the super burrito because the wall menu does not show anything like that just the names of what they have... very inconvenient. i seen that the super burrito came with meat, cheese, rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, lettuce... I told the female behind the counter who was rude and ignoring us when we were ready to order taking her sweet time that i did not want onions, tomatoes, guac or lettuce in my burrito. i checked the screen before she placed the order to confirm no tomatoes, she said "it does not come with tomatoes". We get back to the house and i take 3 bites and there's tomatoes and lettuce in my burrito.. so i had to drive back to the shop which again is inconvenient and a waste of time and gas because the employee told me something i tried to confirm when that's what is stated on ur online ordering menu... so i told her she wrote down my order , took it to the back, came back up and just helped the next customer... no apology , no new time on how long it will take...
