We went with the vegetable option, it's still cheesy, of course, but didn't feel as heavy as it might have with the chorizo. I ordered the Tipico fajitas which comes with steak, chicken, and shrimp. I liked it overall, though it could have used a bit more seasoning. My partner had the mole and really enjoyed it, especially with the fresh corn tortillas served alongside the fundido and his entree. The restaurant itself is cute and quaint. Great food fast service atmosphere was nice. Although it was breakfast time and they had a great selections to choose from. I opted for a combo plate which included a beef enchilada a taco along with beans and rice. The hard shell taco was fantastic, the shell was crispy, crunchy and paper thin. My sister's coworker recommended Mexico Tipico and said "Everything is good" so we didn't take her high praise lightly. Finally had the chance to check this place out with my sister over the weekend. My husband ordered the chilaquiles con carne asada with red salsa, which was also very good. 1/1 Stars for Value -- I was a little hesitant at first because each platter was about $20 each, but the portion sizes are humongous. The platters are each about the size of a hubcap. We ordered the large soup so we could share, but we could definitely have done with the smaller portion. I was happy to try a new Mexican fare venue. I enjoyed the ambiance of the venue. The old movie photos were neat. The LOUD music was enjoyable. When my mom and I arrived on a Monday at 3pmish, there just happened to be another twosome arriving right ahead of us. The place was not busy. They were being greeted by an employee. As we walked in and stood behind the due ahead of us, what would later be our server jumped in and greeted us and seated us by way of gesticulating with his arm to the table that mom was already making her way to. As a hospitality professional for 26 years, his move to NOT keep us waiting was a smooth move. I also have waited tables and worked in banquets prior to said 26 years in hospitality service. We were offered chips and salsa. While we were enjoying the chips salsa and guacamole and waiting for our food I noticed something in the red salsa. At first glance I thought it was a stem of a chili pepper. I fished the item out with another chip. I worked the item that was laying on the chip and maneuvered it with another chip. It was not a pepper stem but either moth or some other sort of flying creature! I brought the situation up to the male server to which he emitted an "Oh!" (as in "oh s**t). I was really disappointed. I also know that these sorts of things can happen. Overall, the food was okay. My favorite was the nopales salad. I ordered the birria tacos which did not agree with me. I only ate one of the 3 tacos. I also had a street taco which I enjoyed. Mom enjoyed her tamale with rice and beans. To ease the sitch she did state the the bug was added protein which made us both laugh. The hardest takeaway was that when the bill came there was no discount offered. NOTHING. Needless to say my experience at the new-to-me venue did not meet my expectations both with food AND service. Had the venue offered even a 10% discount I would likely not be posting this review. Other folks which I mentioned this scenario to stated a 50% disc was in order while others suggested a comp'd meal! My in laws are extremely difficult to take out to eat as they are very picky and are old fashioned Mexican born boomers. My son just brought them here earlier in the week and when we went to take them out this Sunday to their other favorite restaurant which was closed so they chose this place. Again, that's unheard of that they would go out to eat twice in same week, usually if my mother in law wants Mexican food then she makes it, in our family all beans and rice are measured to her version and that is a very high bar, so my expectation were quite high and I was excited to try this place. Cute place in main strip into UC and in an industrial park so of out of the way from anything else so lots of parking.. They had a nice outside garden and sat us in their back room reserved for larger groups, we had 6 people. The place is decorated nicely with cool old pics on walls and the service was pretty good. My in laws apparently always get the siete mar soup which is this huge mix of seafood in a spicy broth. They loved that dish and really enjoyed it, they gave it a solid 4+. My daughter and her husband shared the chile rellenos and a wet burrito and they love their food, won't steal my son in laws thunder he will do his own review..... Wife had a wet chicken burrito and I had a fried whole fish. My wife enjoyed the wet burrito but we specifically asked for no guacamole because she is allergic. We did not say she was allergic at first just no guacamole in hers. When they brought the food it had guacamole so we asked if they could deal with it and the waitress remembered and said she asked for no guacamole but kitchen messed up. We said no worries and then told her that wife had allergies so then she asked if they could "wipe" it off, we were confused by that request and nicely repeated that "no" she is allergic so wiping off won't help. Waitress came back a few minutes later with no guacamole but that was a weird interaction. My sense is management has a strict no take back policy or something and waitress just trying to keep everyone happy??? We gave them benefit of the doubt no concerns just weird. I had the fish which we were going to share but right off new wife would not like. I make way better fish and I think issue was that it was not fresh. The sauces that came with were great and their beans and rice are excellent but my fish was a 2.5 at best. Chips were really good and again table seemed divided with ratings all over the place, I tried my wife's burrito and it was ok not great but she liked it. Decor and service I'll give it a 4.5, benefit of doubt given with the guacamole thing. Food I am going to go to a 3.5 as I average everyone and if we come here again I will try something else just the whole fried fish was not my flavor also it seemed kind of expensive for the food since we got no alcoholic drinks so there are much better options in my mind in Hayward for Mexican food. Been here countless times and annually for one of my girls bdays every August. However, this visit it was slightly a bit under par for service. I was a tad bit disappointed as the server spilled the full beverage cup on our table and it spilled on me and also forgot my order. I know they normally provide great service but maybe my visit recently was an off day. We started off with our classic pitcher of guava marg and ordered our indv meals. we were a small party so we each ordered different dishes. I ended up ordering the fish tacos and asked for fried fish but grilled came out instead. I also ordered a small bowl of pasole and it never came out. I waited and waited and then I decided to ask since everyone food came out already. Then we were told it was never ordered and they put a rush on it. Food is always good here and the drinks. Today was actually my second time visiting this location. First visit I had breakfast, the chorizo was amazing. Today I had a shrimp super burrito, the flavor was great, and it was a decent size. I have been going here for some years and while I do like some of the atmosphere the service is sometimes spotty. The last time there was a band outside and Hornitos tequila had a booth and was giving free shots. I will say that the food is a bit pricey for the quality. The quantity is always really good. But they tend to overcook things. The octopus was really dry and rubbery. The pork was dry. And generally we avoid it unless you are having lots of drinks...there is a bar. The more you drink the less you care about the food! We might be back to check in, but there is better out there to be had. read more

What ever happened to customer service???? Unfortunately, it's hard to find these days. Businesses like Mexico Tipico let their customers walk away unhappy and they just don't care. We have been to this place three times. The first time was great, and the server was very attentive and friendly. The second time, we had a problem with the person seating us. She had attitude because we asked if we could sit at a different table as she was seating us. We were also charged for an extra order of corn tortillas when we had no idea there was a charge. The third time, I asked the server if she could bring us extra tortillas for fajitas because there was not enough tortillas to satisfy the serving. She told me that there would be a charge. I refuse to support a restaurant that nickels and dimes their customers. For the price we are paying, it should not be a problem to get a few extra tortillas. I will not return to this restaurant again. The service is not acceptable and although the food is okay, it is too pricey especially when I can make it for a fraction of the price at home. read more

Tonight when I went there at 4 PM on a Friday evening they told me they had $1 house margaritas and Michelob during happy hour. My friends and I proceeded to order seven margaritas and I was presented for a bill for $88 for the margaritas. When I complained and asked about the happy prices, they said, " Oh no that's just $2 off per margarita." Because there's no happy hour menu, you would think the servers would know the happy hour prices and items offered. Server was Guille.
