I visited Maya's on Saturday and it was surprisingly quiet. The interior is beautifully decorated, and I really appreciated having a sit-down location instead of just the to-go spot in Oakland. I ordered the super burrito with steak (in a bowl), and it was pretty good. The flavor was solid, but I did ask for some hot sauce because it felt like it was missing a little something. I also tried the pineapple and watermelon drink, which was refreshing and really tasty. For my daughter, I ordered a chicken quesadilla, and she absolutely loved it. Overall, it was a great experience and I'd definitely come back!

Food: I appreciate finding a good Halal spot. The Birria tacos were okay 3/5- I have personally enjoyed better Birria tacos. The consome didn't taste as authentic as other places. For the service- we were checked on a few times, but no one offered to take our empty plates at any point until I asked. The space is cute and open. I live quite far from this restaurant, but if I lived a little closer, I would try it again.

Cute place that will satisfy your cravings and your empty stomach. Generous servings. The service though, I am half hearted. They served the food pretty quickly, but I asked for hot water and it never came. I asked for the check, the server gave me a hand signal that I read as "hold on", waited about 30 mins and it never came too, so I decided to walk up front thinking maybe I needed to pay at the cashier- and voila! It is the cashier indeed, but why did the server not tell me??! Nonetheless, will still go back for their tasty food, just next time I know to walk directly at the cashier to pay.

We finished our 38 mile hike late and there were few food options open. This one was and it sounded interesting. I want to say it's Mexican with a middle eastern twist. Interesting for sure. Please come and create your own adventure.

I ordered to go and they were pretty fast. The place is cute and definitely has a vibe. The food was really good too. Ordered the bean and cheese burrito for my kids and they devoured it. Super cheesy. Also got the steak enchiladas and the sauce was good. It comes with rice and beans and the whole meal was very filling. Also got the lady boss burrito, I didn't make any alterations since it was my first time trying this and it didn't disappoint. Very tasty and big. But I'd probably order it without the grilled onions next time. My only thing would be that is pretty expensive. I ordered 2 x enchiladas, 2x burritos (one bean and cheese, and one lady boss) and 2 drinks.. and it came out to almost $100!

Amazing food! Went around 7:30 on a Saturday night and we got seated right away. The hosts are so gracious and attentive and make you feel like you're at home. I got a super burrito with chicken which was so juicy and yummy. Get their habanero sauce on the side! It's super spice and adds a nice taste to the burrito.

Maya Halal Taqueria is a cute Mexican fusion restaurant that's open late and has bold flavors. Came here pretty late on a Sunday night and there was a steady flow of take out customers with a couple of dine in. The food took a while to come out but it's because they were making the tortillas to order and frying the taquitos fresh. The taquitos were pretty good but I think it could have used more meat since the outside tortilla was on the thicker side. For the tacos the handmade tortillas were awesome! The marinade and flavors of the tacos are not your usual Mexican spices. It definitely packs a punch with the kick. I think the tacos could have also used some more meat. Overall I think portion size to price could be improved on since it is on the expensive side but I do appreciate how late they're open. I would come back every now and then but won't add it to my go to's list.

I have seen this place in Oakland so I was excited to give this location in Union City a try. I was hesitant after seeing that there was no one inside on a Friday afternoon. I was slightly confused since it appeared to be a sit down restaurant and I always assumed it was a casual taqueria. The inside is very nice and modern. Service was friendly. The taste and quality is very good. We ordered the Lady Boss Burrito with steak and 4 tacos. I tried the fish taco, Birria taco, and steak taco. I liked the crispy cheese bottom on the taco. I really liked the salsas, especially the orange sauce which was very spicy. The prices were pretty fair. $17ish for burrito and $4.25 a taco. Overall I would recommend.

Tried the super burrito with steak, it was delicious full of flavor, will recommend to not add guac into it cause it looses the taste but other than that I think will definitely try it again

Hello Halal! Maya Halal Taqueria is your neighborhood taqueria serving halal meat in meals made to stuff you up! Located just blocks from the highway and conveniently near gas stations, grocery shops, coffee shops, and parks, this place has the foundations to draw in some crowds but due to the aging buildings of this mall and being overshadowed by the Union Landing mall down the street, doesn't seem to have caught the community by storm yet. With a shared lot with mostly grab and go shops, you'll almost always be able to get a spot nearby. Beautifully decorated with its purple hue, your first steps through the door will be illuminated and met with wall murals, decorative lights, and faux floral arrangements all bringing a fresh breath of life to your senses (the amazing ventilation in the room certainly helps too). As you find your seats in the dining room, you will no doubt notice the vibrantly colored cushioned chairs that will soon provide comfort during your meal. We were helped right away and were provided menus and waters to get us situated. The menu was quite extensive offering quite a variety of dishes including tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, fries, and set combo plates. We got a sampling of items for the table to share and it was good that we did, because the portions were larger than expected! Taquitos - comes with four bite sized crispy rolled tacos topped with fresh salsa and cotija cheese. These bites were so crispy yet flavorful with all the toppings and sour cream. Probably could eat the whole plate just by myself! Super quesadilla - huge crispy slices of cheesy quesadilla packed with your choice of meat served with a side of sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo. This was a favorite of the table and was really good as leftovers too. Boss lady burrito - hefty burrito packed with hour choice of meat, rice, beans, cheese and salsa. Comes wrapped in foil to retain the heat and served with a few pieces of chips and pico de gallo. Wet burrito - this monstrosity of a burrito is drenched in enchilada sauce and takes a fork and knife to eat. By far, one of the best wet burritos I have had due to its size, fillings and sauce. I would get this again! The choices of meat were great - the favorite of the table was the birria beef but they also have ground beef, steak, grilled chicken, shredded chicken, shrimp and fish (the latter typically costing a few dollars more). Most of the dishes also come with pico de gallo, so you'll get a nice fresh condiment with your meal. If you're looking to add a bit of a kick to your meal, ask for their hot sauce (hot or mild); it's not too spicy but does add an extra component to your bites. The prices for the entrees were higher than most places I've been for Mexican food, but given the big portions, quality of execution, and beautiful presentation, I can understand the premium tag. However, the price is certainly a deterrent for frequent visits but a meal out here every blue moon is reasonable to satisfy that craving. Service was phenomenal; our server, Oscar, did an amazing job making us feel welcomed and helped us thoroughly enjoy the meal. They were great about being proactive in their service like serving waters without prompts, providing extra plates knowing the kiddos were going to share, and being available to answer questions and close out the check. Overall, Maya Halal does a wonderful job showcasing its culture through its interior decor, food presentation, and flavors. The service is not what you'd expect in a mall shared with quick food/takeout establishments but the prices certainly is a shocker. Given the quality and quantity of food, it still does seem fair for an option to address those tummy grumbles for Mexican food while also sticking to a halal diet. If you're in the area, give Maya a try for it may very well be another up and coming gem of Union City!

The Chipotle Shrimp tacos are the best! I don't do pineapple in anything, but these tacos are the only exception. They continue to be my all time favorite shrimp tacos ever so far. They have so many vegetarian options and the quality is great. You can definitely taste it. The place is super cute and chill. The service has been mixed. I have had great service and I have also had poor service. Now, I only order for delivery because the bad service was worse than the great service I had. I don't want to risk it. Overall, the food is delicious and great but customer service can improve.

Fish burrito and steak quesadilla was amazing and i would come back. The hyped up happy guy at the counter is also your server, so he is nice, but you might feel rushed as only 1 person to take orders if there is a long line. Option to doordash seems to be the most foot traffic right now in this new location. Love the color schemes and neon lights of maya.

Oh..my...GAH! This place is amazing. A menu full of incredible options that sound amazing and an ambiance that's casual and welcoming to all. The staff was awesome too. Our food got to the table quickly and, to my surprise, stayed warm for a long time. We ordered the cheese quesadilla for my daughter, a wet burrito for my wife, and the Cheeto burrito for myself. Everything was perfectly made and met all our expectations. Just an overall incredible experience and we'll be back for more of their menu.

We started with the One Piece Mixed Salad (tofu skin, vermicelli noodles, woodear mushrooms, carrots, celery, seaweed, and peanuts, all mixed in a savory, acidic, and spicy dressed ) and the Shredded Potato Salad, both of which made for nice appetizers. We also had the Cold Skin Noodles (Liangpi), a bowl of wide, chewy noodles mixed with a savory sauce and topped with tofu puffs, shredded cucumber , bean sprouts, and a creamy sesame sauce. Hailing from Xi'an, the Braised Pork Pita Burger was fatty pieces of pork braised in a savory sauce, served in a dry round of "pita," but even better was the Spicy Cumin Lamb Pita Burger, which contained a tantalizingly spicy, flavorful filling of tender spiced lamb. The Signature Beef Bone Noodle Soup came with noodles in a simple broth, topped with three bone-in beef ribs. The meat on the ribs was rather tough and sinewy, and the soup on the bland side, but the presentation of the dish was definitely impressive. Finally, the House Special Braised Dry Noodle was a bowl of noodles topped with a savory sauce with lots of different dried ingredients including tofu, s mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and red bell peppers. For each noodle dish, you could select from a variety of noodles, but my favorite by far was the 2cm "General Wide" noodles, which had an amazing chewy texture. Overall, this was a great restaurant for authentic Northern Chinese noodle dishes and other eats. Everything came out from the kitchen in just minutes after we ordered. The tasty dishes came at a good value, and the service was super friendly too!

There seems to have some menu change since the last time we came. We ordered 2 dry noodles and a cold spicy pig ears appetizer. The pig ears were piled up with no fillers - something hard to find these days. You can select the type of noodles so I picked the widest while my husband picked the middle one. I love the el dente texture of the noodles giving it a bit of chew. My braised pork belly dry noodles was not dry... very watery which was not to my liking. I want my dry noodles with as little gravy as possible. The flavor was light despite all the gravy, but the veggies and one egg made it up. The house special dry noodles had just the right amount of gravy for taste but not enough ingredients. I was wondering why the restaurant is called One Piece... I guess the entire bowl of noodles is one piece noodle as it was hard to eat as all the noodles are tangled. No complaints here just need to be careful with the splashes on your shirt. Overall the food was good, service was decent as we were offered actual menu instead of only using QR code to order. The place was not small with plenty of table. A bit noise as with all Chinese restaurants.

We drive past this place all the time and I somehow only registered it as a pizza shop, I didn't realize they had a whole Afghan menu. Overall, a worthy substitute, especially for the added convenience. Rating Breakdown: 1.5/2 Stars for Taste -- We ordered the potato and squash bolani. You can choose spicy or mild. Word of warning, even the mild has a slight kick and the peppers are distributed haphazardly throughout. I gave my kid a bite after taste-testing for spice and she started shrieking. My bite was non-spicy...hers was not. We ended up doing visual inspections inside each piece just in case to look for the telltale red flakes. My favorite was the squash because of the hint of sweetness, my sister still loves the classic potato. I wish the outside was crispier, but my order was takeout and I'm not sure how long it sat in the pizza box for. I also read in other reviews you can order extra crispy so I might try that next time. The green sauce the bolani came with is spicier and more watery than De Afghanan. We also ordered the chapli and beef tikka kabob. The chapli was our favorite --the patties were huge! The beef tikka kabob had a slightly offputting mushy texture in the middle, but the flavor and char were overall good. You can choose between brown and white rice and I opted for brown because the server told me it was more popular. The rice is perfectly seasoned, much more evenly spiced than what they serve at De Afghanan. My favorite order of the night though was the eggplant borani. SO good. I could eat a bucket of it. 1/1 Stars for Value -- It was $13 and $14 for normal and squash bolani, respectively. The kebab platters were a little shy of $20 and the boxes were generously packed. It was $10 for the eggplant appetizer, although next time I might splurge $3 more to get it as a platter with rice. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service - I called the order in instead of ordering online and they charged us the in-store price, which is nice. The website prices were on average $3-4 higher. Bonus star because I'll definitely be back for that eggplant. I'm also interested in trying their Afghan breakfast. I'm very sad that they no longer sell sabzi since that is one of my all time faves.
