Yummm! Quality. Fast and cheap! Walked in and out within 10mins for a carne asada plate and tasty lengua, al pastor, and adovada tacos - every single thing was amazing. The tacos come out with just meat and a side of lettuce. A side bar had all different kinds of toppings, different salsas, chopped cilantro and onions and roasted serrano peppers to add to your liking. While we filled up on sides, we watched a lady make our tortillas from scratch, wrapping each ball, flattening it and frying it made to order. The cook had it down to a science, at one point he reached for salt behind him with one hand, turned around and grabbed meat with another hand while simultaneously reaching backwards to season things without looking - whoa. I am giving up on Mexican food in Denver, at least as far as anyone's recommendations for good taco's here. The taco's were greasy and bland is that really what people call or except as Barbacoa here?? What makes people like this place? Quantity? It definitely wasn't quality, because the taco was a shameful display of greasy grey matter in a basket, overflowing the tortilla, and even at $1.60 I felt ripped off. The salsa bar was pathetic, full of cilantro stems, butchered radishes, overly ripened diced onions, and flavorless generic salsas. Disturbing too, was the one utensil to pick up everything, anyone ever heard of cross-contamination? I really hope the health dept sees this before someone gets hurt. One last thing; Mexican coke with corn syrup in it now, what's the point in buying a Mexican one, if it's exactly like any other Coca Cola? read more

Holy Guacomole! This place is fantastic! There are several locations around town and this was the first one I visited. I ordered a chicken gordita and a chorizo taco. Oh my goodness, the chorizo was to die for. The gordita is kind of like the outside of a corn dog (much bigger) that's fried. It turns into a hollow pocket and they stuff it with delicious meet and cheese. They have a salsa bar with a variety of fresh salsa and toppings. Everything there is delicious. There aren't very many tables and it can get packed in there. If possible, I would encourage you to get take-out if you plan on eating at a busy time. read more

This is a great, authentic taqueria. The al pastor is really good, but the Adovada tacos really steal the show. If you like spice, this is for you. Basically the same chopped pork as the al pastor taco, but simmered in a wonderfully spicy chile gravy that gives it deep flavor and great heat. The carnitas is also pretty good, but the barbacoa was a little on the bland side. This is easily remedied, however, with a trip to the great salsa bar, which also has lime wedges, radishes, cilantro, chopped onion, etc. Also, the horchata was delicious, lots of cinnamon, and the tortillas are made in house! Staff is super friendly and setting is , well, a taco shop...reviewers who have complained about this, I don't get it! Any place that I has a line out the door and I have to have someone translate to the lady taking my order is most likely really good. Despite the fact that they were really busy, my two tacos I ordered were ready in 5 minutes. I got the marinated pork and chicken. I also got three salsas. Two of them were red and one was green. They also had sautéed Serrano peppers with salt. The tacos were delicious, especially with the salsas. The serranos were hot and flavorful. Yes, a gal who didn't read Jess B.'s review before I went. ;) Tacos Y Salsa has been high on my list of places to try, because every time I drive by, it is PACKED. Sure, it's a small restaurant, but it's packed - with latinos - always a good sign. I really like this place a lot - it's very authentic. The service is friendly and efficient, and the menu is simple and straightforward. Yummy! I concur with Jess - the burritos are not good to eat (definitely not user-friendly if you're used to a pick-it-up-and-eat-it burrito), so stick with the tacos. Mary Jo would be happy to know that there was no Al Pastor hanging around outside with the pigeons, so yay! Prices are unbeatable ($1.55 tacos), and their salsa bar is varied and delicious (and Jess, they had spicy carrots when I was there!). Wanted to venture out for some lunch before the big game today - GO BRONCO's! We decided on someplace close and enjoy some more authentic Mexican food from Colfax. After reading the excellent reviews on Yelp I decided on two taco's, one chicken and one al pastor. Sam decided on the carnita's burrito and we shared an order of the tortilla chips so we could partake in the excellent salsa bar. The tortillas were truly fresh out of the fryer. Nothing store bought or stale about these tortillas. Totally crisp and piled perfectly in front of us for devouring. I decided on a taking a sampling of pretty much everything from the salsa bar, 3-4 different salsas with differing levels of heat, onions, cilantro, creamed avocado, lime, and of course the classic mild and chunky salsa. We tried a little bit of everything and really enjoyed everything. The food came quickly considering the place was pretty busy this afternoon. The tacos were stuffed with meat and ready for the other flavors. I added some salsa, some iceberg lettuce, cilantro, onions, and most definitely a large squeeze of lime. Lime is the flavor dejour. I could eat 12 of these taco's. So simple and delicious, the meat was so juicy and had tons of authentic flavor. The al pastor was my favorite and next time I may indulge in three taco's of just the al pastor. Sam really loved his carnita's burrito. It was gigantic and stuffed with delicious meat, small amount of cheese, and he added minimal ingredients to enhance the flavorful experience. You have a lot of choices on the menu as far as meat choices, you can have taco's, gordita's, burritos, and others. I will definitely be coming back to enjoy some more authentic Mexican food. Took my friends over there after the Race for the Cure. I had the menudos, they were pretty good! Lots of meat... More pesole than the tripes and other stuff I don't really enjoy, but the best ones around here comes everything in the package. Anyway, the menudos were hot and the bowl was pretty big for $8, came with a piece of toast and seasonings from the salsa bar. My friends had tacos al pastor, which was really good. This place is... GREAT! Very simple, small and crowded, and cheap. The bean and cheese gorditas are quite good, and the horchata is the best that I've had so far... very sweet and cinnamony. The gorditas were quite large for less than $3 each, which was a pleasant surprise. The shell was the perfect combination of light and crispy. The best gordita I've ever had, though to be fair I haven't had that many. Right around $6 for two big gorditas and a glass of horchata... very affordable. Seating is limited, so I imagine during dinner hours it may be hard to get a table. We went a bit early, and there was only one open table. There is definitely a lack of vegetarian options, and they didn't have the potato gordita that I wanted to try. I really dislike it when places list things on the menu that can't be ordered... seems to happen a lot with Mexican places for some reason. The salsa bar was excellent, with at least 6 different salsas, onions, cilantro... all the basics. The place could definitely use a selection of Mexican beers and some sangria or something, but otherwise some of the best Mexican restaurant food I've had in Denver. I am SO mad it took me so long to man up and try some of the 'authentic' Mexican joints on Colfax. Oh how I wish I could get those years of neglect back! Having fallen in love with some other local joints, I figured I would trust my fellow Yelpers and give this place a try - you all (or as my friends in the South say, Y'all) did not disappoint! The place is really small and not necessarily the cleanest restaurant in the world, but who cares with food like this (I literally went back for three straight days). On my first visit, I toured the menu, ordering - Beef Intestines, Tongue, Pastor, Chicken, and Pork Skin (not going to even try and spell it correctly). Okay, this might scare the vast majority of you, but you MUST ---I repeat, YOU MUST try the Intestines. AMAZING....it is basically beef with a slight crispy texture - outstanding. I have to admit, 5 stars for food and 4 stars for location, but I still travel here every so often. I was first introduced to this place by a friend and this was way before location 3 through 10 (exaggerating) popped up. Yumm! Their tacos are great and filling as they do not skimp on meat at all. Tacos y Salsas is an aurora staple... with that being said I have ate here more times that I can count. The food is as authentic as a taco can get and last I checked they are still making hand made tortillas. You don't see that in a lot of places. Menudo on sundays is delicious after a hangover. So, this place is not in the best part of town. But, the food is spectacular. We ordered the barbacoa tacos, asada tacos, smothered beef burrito, and guacamole tostada. I've never had a barbacoa taco this good! And, of course, there were plenty of spicy salsas to choose from. Love, love, love this place! It is about a mile from my house and is a go to when I want a taco fix for lunch. I usually pick out 3 tacos a la carte, have a mexican coke, and get a bunch of the different salsas they have available at their little salsa bar. My favorite protiens here are al pastor, asada, and adobada. I tried the chicken and it is a mix of white and dark meat. I have not tried them but the tortas from here look tasty as well! read more

Wow! I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The tacos were great! The meats were fresh and tons of authentic flavor. The salsas were great too! I also ordered chips to go with the salsa and they were AWESOME! They fry them fresh so they're crispy yet still a bit soft in some spots. The area is not the best so take them to go if you feel safer, but you gotta try them at least once... Trust me! Finally a place that has good salsa and at least one VEGETARIAN thing on the menu! I got the gorditas and told the waitress I was vegetarian. She hooked it up a bunch of extra veggies to compensate for the lack of meat and talked to the cook. Such nice and efficient service. What happened to Tacos Y Salsa? I would think during the pandemic restaurants would be trying to get people to come in. Tacos Y Salsa on E. Colfax does not care. First let's start with Covid19. There were 11 people in the restaurant including the workers. Only two of us were wearing masks: me and a four year old girl. The hostess had hers around her chin. The kitchen staff were not wearing masks at all. Next: My order was only 2/3 of what it normally was. Portions have been cut back substantially. Prices have not gone down. I think they went up! Next: The meat in my burrito was more fat than meat. That is just gross! I paid for meat, not fat. I am not exaggerating. It was almost ALL fat! I don't care which restaurant we are talking about, that is just wrong. You do not serve fat, You should serve meat! They are trying to cut costs at my expense. Next: My order was wrong! When I arrived, I was the only customer. I ordered my food. I understand that listening to people as they talk with masks on can be difficult. So, you might want to double check and make sure the order is correct. I ordered and she said OK. I assumed she got it right. I feel like it is her responsibility to make sure she got it right. Her job and the restaurant are on the line, not me. I am going to assume she she heard me correctly unless she asks for clarification. As I waited for my food, more customers came in (wearing no masks). If I get Covid, I know where I got it! This used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant. I will NEVER go back. They do not take safety seriously. They do not use good cuts of meat. They do not make sure the order is correct. If anyone has a better Mexican restaurant to recommend to me, please do so. This tiny shoebox of a restaurant is home to some fantastic tacos. I usually get my mex fix to go here because I feel so claustrophobic eating in this space. The king of this menu is their tacos al pastor. Absolutely outstanding, especially when they have the spit fired up in front of the restaurant. If you are a pineapple fiend like me, be sure to specify that you want your tacos "con piña". Also not to be missed are their tacos de lengua. I feel like a broken record when I describe a delicious lengua, so just trust me, they do it right here. Of all the TyS locations around town this one is easily my favorite. read more

I am very, very picky about my Mexican food. Most of what I have tried in other establishments does not taste authentic at all. At last, I found a place that tastes like the real deal. The things that turn people off about this place usually stem from the 'atmosphere.' To them it looks small, hot, and dirty. It's a place to step out of the every day and go someplace that feels far away. I don't see the negative at all, but instead see a place that feels like a real Mexican restaurant. They carry bottled imported Coca-colas made with sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup. They also have desserts available from a local bakery such as flan and tres leches cake. They aren't as good as the food they prepare themselves, but will satisfy a craving in a pinch. And even though they have a small array of choices, if you don't come here for the tacos, you are doing it wrong! They have every type of taco meat imaginable and about six fresh made salsas plus pico and fresh made tortillas. (I recommend the carnitas.) The taco quality and variety of excellent salsas are the stars here...there's a reason why it's "Tacos y Salsas"! read more

These are true Mexican tacos. I enjoyed the quick service. Our orders we're taken and our food was delivered quickly. I had the shredded pork, barbacoa and chicken. The tacos we're full of meat with lettuce and tomato on the side. The choice of bottled sodas is great. The choice of salsas was made me happy. Fuckin' legit! Truly excellent pulled pork tacos, chicken fajitas etc. The salsa is very good, although not great. The service is good and the prices, OH THE PRICES! For $1.75 you get a taco easily twice the size of most taco places. Also, instead of giving you a tiny bit of meat and 2 pre-made corn tortillas, they give you a small mountain of meat and a handmade tortilla, so the ratio of meat to filler is fantastic! The service is really friendly and they strike a good balance of being authentic without being rude; they don't cater to gringos, but they won't give you attitude either. The hortchata is forgettable but there is something truly likeable about this place, and I go here a minimum of 2x per week. read more
