Look, I'm from Nashville, TN where my exposure to Mexican food is either self-proclaimed "authentic" Mexican food at local restaurants or brands like Chipotle, Qdoba, or Moe's. Visiting El Paso for the second time, I took my coworker out to lunch. She's not from El Paso but Juarez. So when I asked her what she wanted to eat, she wanted either Chick-fil-A or Carl's Jr. I quickly vetoed those options, because I avoid chains when I travel (if I can help it). Plus those choices are readily available to me at home. She then picked Tacotote, which I didn't know was a fast food taco place but let me tell you... I wouldn't mind eating here all the time if we had them back home. Here you have an endless supply of different tacos on the menu. Half of them, I didn't know what they were because I don't speak Spanish, but I knew what arrachera was. I ordered two arrachera (skirt steak) tacos, Mexican rice, and a drink for my meal. I was pleased to see that there was a salsa bar and topping bar for the tacos. Meaning you could dress them in any way you liked. The toppings were fresh and the salsas were all great. Of course there were so many to choose from, I didn't know what to get. The arrachera was tender and delicious. It wasn't dry at all and fresh. I put onions, cilantro, pico de gallo, and some Mexican rice on each of my tacos. I still can't believe this is fast food down here but consider me impressed. read more

When things are bad, I'll tell you. They're bad when things are good. I will tell you the truth. I ordered lunch from this taco tote on Zaragoza by far one of the best lunches I've had in a while. The food was fresh and hot portions were overwhelmingly. good I'm a 300 pound man and there was more than enough. The beans taste like they did when taco they first came to El Paso. **experience during covid-19 ** As a precaution I tend to do drive-through only as I do not want to go inside any buildings if I don't have to. Today I spent a good half an hour waiting in line to get my food. They really need to come up with a better system to get the drive-through to work more efficiently. So now that I got that out of the way we can talk about the food. I don't know if you know this but they don't warm up your tortillas until you actually order. I ordered two tacotote pack that includes 2 tacos with the meat of your choice and the type of tortilla of your choice with one side and 1 drink. I had chicken other adobada chicken on one order and sirloin tacos on the other, both had a side of refrained beans and our drinks. The food was nice and warm as it should be. I had not been to one of these in years and it was the one by Bassett. So I was disappointed that the cashier didn't speak English and I had to translate for my cousin. Well the disappointment was we ordered at 745 and didn't get the food until 815-820. It was annoying as the girl serving was taking her sweet ass time walking without a care in the world. Oh and my cousin and I both asked for a side a rice, quieremos arroz! She said ya no hay arroz! We were like what the hell? How can you run out of rice in a Mexican restaurant? It's like a Chinese restaurant running out of rice! Turned out the cashier lied to us! We sat down and started eating, my other cousin ordered his meal with a side of rice and they gave his family fresh steaming hot rice! And he ordered after us! Taco tote is my guilty pleasure! I just love their tacos, tostada bar and salsa bar!!! I normally get sirloin tacos combo (about $12) which comes with 2 tacos, rice, beans and a drink. At the salsa bar, they have a few different kinds of salsa, lettuce, onions, limes, and cucumbers. You know your food does not contain any veggie so I recommend you to eat a few pieces of their cucumbers so you'll feel better :) lol Every time I go, I tell myself "next time I will try something else..." because their quesadilla looks good too.. but their tacos is so good that I am now stuck with it haha read more

Waited a very long time in line to order , not including the time needed to receive my order.. ordered a cheesecake and when I got home, the cheesecake had a bug in it, when I called and asked to speak to a manager , the woman who answered asked me if there really was a bug, which makes it seem like she was implying that I was lying about it (who would want to lie about a bug in their food???), after the conversation she then proceeded to let me know she would be telling her manager because she's a cashier (?) First the good then the really, really bad. GOOD: the food is tasty as always and the salsa bar allows you to put it all together nicely. REALLY REALLY BAD: we walked in and there was no waiting to place our order. Sadly, we waited to place our order for over 5 minutes without so much as a greeting or an acknowledgement that our presence had been noticed. When the lady made her way towards us, she simply stood in from of the register and stared at us whilst raising her eyebrows as in asking what we wanted to order using only her condescending body language. At this point single word has yet to be exchanged between customer and employee. She made it impossible to address her by name since her sweater covered her name tag. The best way I can identify her is by her drive through head set uniform accessory. Oh man the tacos at El Taco Tote is sooooooooo good! There are only about 6 different types of tacos you can get, and trust me they are all good! I also love the quesadillas here, the cheese is perfectly melted, its mouthwatering and you absolutely must get the flan, I cannot emphasize this enough. IF YOU DO NOT GET THE FLAN THE TERRORISTS MIGHT AS WELL WIN! BE WARNED: The food does take a very long time to get prepared, but you can't rush perfection. This does make for unbearable drive-thru waits, so I recommend coming inside, where at least you can enjoy the condiments bar and munch on some cucumbers with lime and salsa! This particular location has a very ample dining room, which comes in handy during the very heavy dinner times. I dunno if its to recreate the authentic Mexican experience, but you will be solicited, that's probably the most annoying part of the El Taco Tote experience. Every trip I go on to El Paso, El Taco Tote is a MUST go-to for lunch. Authentic Mexican taco stop, complete with the fresh salsa bar. They hand-press their tortillas fresh when you order them, the food is always piping hot, and the prices are decent. Never had a bad meal here- and their guacamole is to die for!! I am a fan. What can I say, I'm from the North and the best fast food tacos I have are Taco Bell. I got the shrimp tacos tote and it was good stuff. I'm also a salsa whore so that helped seal the deal. Their salsas/sauces all were fresh, the tacos were "Mexican" style and really tasty, and even the potato I got was damned good. I actually have nothing negative to say about this joint; I just can't give it a 5 star because it's a chain, and I can't compare it to anything else here in El Paso yet. We loved this place years ago, before becoming a franchise! The quality of the food has declined. They now add wheat or something to their tortillas. They definitely don't smell like pure corn/Maseca tortillas! One of the main reasons we stopped going.... We don't do wheat! Also the meat is not what it used to be and over priced in my opinion! Love this place! I went there for lunch, and it was very good! I usually order tacos. I've tried arrachera tacos and they were very tasty. The meat was very tender and flavorful. They have complimentary chips by the counter, and I love the salsa bar. I don't live in El Paso anymore, and wish they had a store in Dallas. I can't wait to visit here again! read more

I usually get the chicken tacos on flour tortillas and they are always great. The other tacos I have tried are good but I prefer the chicken tacos. They are a little pricy though if you only order the tacos alone. I guess that's why they have the taco tote pack. It's a good deal but the thing is I have purchased the taco tote pack on several occasions with charro beans, but those charro beans are always hard. Taco tote chefs really need to cook those beans thoroughly. I never eat the charro beans because they are not cooked thoroughly. The customer service is always great when I go there. read more

Taco tote was a nice find. the place is huge I mean huge. noisy with families children and people enjoying food. the taco bar excuse me the salsa bar is incredible. lots of sauces lots of vegetables very nice. the chips at the front counter are a bit clunky, barely adequate. I only get to come here about once a year when visiting my family. Even after a 11-12 hour drive from So Cal...this is our first stop. Ppl keep talking to me about Chico's Tacos (sorry compa, tastes like dishwater) I guess you have to be an EP native. Taco Tote is the S$%^T. The tortillas are like butta baby! I have never come up on a rude or disinterested employee. It sure gets packed on Sundays with the real mexican crowd. As for us Chicanos, we just try to get in where we fit in. The salsa is always fresh and the place is clean. I take all my Cali first timers here as soon as we pull off the 10fwy. We have been known to get our food to go and then sit up on the scenic point and just enjoy El Paso. You dont know how lucky you are until a cousin has to make a drive from a fully latino city like LA to come and get some really really good tacos!!! As for the prices...Im from Los Angeles where everything from Gas to Diapers is way overpriced! Ill bite the bullet and take it in the wallet for this place.
