Servers seemed a bit annoyed to have to deal with us shortly before close as I think they were hoping to usher people out and close down maybe a little early. One the one hand I get it, on the other hand you've got two paying customers on a slow night.

It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. Since we had cocktails at dinner, we only stayed for one round. Service was good, and overall I enjoyed my time at Patent Pending. I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.

We went to TacoVision for a small celebratory dinner. Using my judgement with the two candles on my table from what I can see the presentation was beautiful. However, the tacos on the menu only came with the quantity of two tacos with the exception of the Quesa Birria Tacos (3) . Carne Asada Tacos are a excellent safe choice if you're nervous about trying anything new . The rice and beans on the other hands are over cooked and unimpressed save your money. Beware: Asians, especially Indians and Sikhs, will NOT be allowed to sit at tacovision unless credit card is scanned. However, if you are a skin color that is amenable to them, you will not be asked for your credit card. If this is a policy change, 1) explain it 2) be consistent. Discrimination is not appreciated. Delicious! Sea Bass was a bit salty but Fabian and Paola took steps to resolve immediately. Fine examples of customer service culture, really appreciate and very grateful!! Although, I was in great company, so I didn't mind the slow service, as I enjoyed lingering at the table to chat with friends, but I can see how some patrons may find this irksome. One other small thing that made my time here less than perfect was the upselling of their drinks. Whether the server realized or not, she recommended a margarita pitcher that turned out to be more expensive than if we had just purchased a drink each. Still, despite the downsides, I find the food worth returning. Just make sure to come when you're not in a rush and avoid the pitchers.
