First time visiting Tacun. We came by for lunch and were greeted immediately. The host was very friendly and then wait staff attentive. I ordered the chipotle fish and my companion had the green enchiladas. The food was flavorful and I really enjoyed the sauces that came with the tortilla chips. I tried their mojito, which was very refreshing. My only observation is that the corn tortillas didn't seem fresh, so I'll pass on thos next time. Definitely try the Chocoflan for dessert! read more

Tacos are amazing. The pastor had a ton of flavor, moreso than other places, but I do wish it had pineapple in it. The service is super friendly and nice. This place is CASH ONLY but luckily there's an ATM across the street. Tacun's atmosphere is definitely super local but we really liked it. We had the chorizo tacos as well which were good. The shrimp ceviche was okay. Some shrimp were big, others were tiny. Not all of them were fresh. The flavor was pretty bland so I'd go somewhere else for ceviche but the tacos here were awesome! Great local place. We ate here twice in one day. Food was flavorful and quick. This is a little hole in the wall so don't expect the fanciest dining. A great spot for breakfast if you're visiting the area. It's open air seating on the street between resorts. They serve chips and salsa with your meal to start. I tried each of the salsas - both the rojo and the verde were packed with flavor. The verde had a fresh, jalapeño spicy kick. The one in the middle, which I think was habanero, was like a flame bomb. I should have been more cautious with my first dip because it was too spicy for my palate! Besides the heat the flavor was awesome so if you like spicy things you'd be into this salsa. Then we had coffees, which were a little weak so I'd skip that. The breakfast dishes come with great refried beans and a few pan fried potatoes. For my entree, I had the chorizo omelet - the chorizo in Mexico is crazy good! Spicy and flavorful! It was cheesy and filled with sautéed onions and green peppers. My boyfriend had the poblano pepper omelet and loved it. Service was very friendly and they were accommodating with a clean wipe of the table after each dish. *CASH ONLY* You can pay with USD or pesos. We grabbed pesos from the ATM across the street. Came here as a conclusion to my stay in Mexico, and I spent most of my time in Tulum where amazing local food options are overwhelming, this place was just ok to me. The service was so friendly, welcoming and attentive. I liked that there were free chips and various salsas as well as cilantro and chopped onions. The tortillas seemed too dry, thick, and lukewarm for my preference. The carnitas taco portion was too much in portion but not enough in flavor. The carne taco and al pastor were decent. My friend and I also split the queso con chorizo, which was also just ok in comparison to other quesos I've tried. I appreciated that there was at least 1 hole-in-the-wall place somewhat near our hotel, and we were too exhausted to trek into the town of Cancun to find authentic cuisine, so this will do for those who wish to stay in hotel zone. read more

Tacun is a great little joint on blvd kukulcan right across from Flamingo mall. We were staying at the nearby flamingo resort and this was the first spot we tried out in Cancun since it was right next to our hotel. I loved the setting, basically a shack on a side lane right off the main Boulevard. Its open air and they have fans in case it gets to hot. The place is cash only so that is something to keep in mind. We started off with the delicious freshly made guacamole and the a couple of mango margaritas. The margaritas were so unbelievably yummy and had been made with actual mango and not just a pre made mix. At around 120 pesos a pop they were an absolute steal. The guacamole came with fresh chips and an assortment of salsas which ranged from mild to supremely spicy! The entrées were excellent as well but the guac and drinks were really the show stealers. Staff are bilingual as with most places in cancun. Very friendly and service is great. Highly recommended for breakfast, lunch or dinner if you are staying around the flamingo mall. Not very expensive either as our meal came out to around 700 pesos for 2 people including 2 drinks each, entrées and appetizers. read more

We tried a trio of tacos (pastor, steak, chicken) and the shrimp ceviche. The steak taco was the best, but avoid the chicken taco as it is too dry. The ceviche was generously portioned and pretty good once I added more fresh lime juice. For those looking to get the best ceviche, I suggest El Galeon del Caribe. As for tacos, Tacos Rigo is better. The star of the meal was probably the salsa trio that came as the appetizer, and especially the spicy salsa. It was a wonderful balance of flavor, smokey spice, and freshness. We ordered take out from Tacun (out of circumstance, have a toddler who doesn't do sit down restaurants well) and got great value. For around $35USD we got two orders of tacos, an order of enchiladas, two sides, and another entree. Salsas were great and food was plenty flavorful and meat was not at all overdone. We recommend ordering anything with beef (it was the best tasting in our opinion -- we also had pork and chicken items). What a fun place! Great food, service was awesome, and the staff very friendly. Oh and Mariachi La Perla was performing for the patrons. Some of the best molè I have tasted. The chicken enchiladas and the chicken in molè were delicious. The shrimp wrapped in bacon was incredible. Really fresh, scrumptious seafood. I'm a vegetarian and our server made fajitas for me one night, a really hearty burrito the other. They have a great selection of tequilas! Top shelf liquors, too. Generous pours. The atmosphere reminded me of being back in Oakland and eating tacos in fruitvale. The steak was ok but the AL Pastor was on point. 3 tacos for appx. $5 usd. I wanted to venture out from the resort and try authentic Mexican food and found Tacsun on Yelp. The food was dirt cheap and really good. Warning there is no AC but there is a breeze coming through the restaurant. It's maybe a 7 table spot with four or more chair each table. The salsa and chips were good. The salsa wasn't the norm for us Americans. There were no chunky tomatoes or onions but was thin and spicy! The guacamole was really good. The best I've had all stay. I asked if they could mix my tacos and they did. I was able to try the beef, chicken and chorizo. The chorizo was my favorite. The rice was good and although the beans were not my regular black beans, I did enjoy it. Like others, if you want a break from the resort, definitely stop by. Love this little authentic Mexican restaurant on a side street running parallel to the main road. My family of four has eaten here two consecutive days and we've loved each item (shrimp tacos, fish tacos, steak burrito, chicken burrito, chicken nachos, beef quesadillas, chicken quesadillas). This eatery is located across the Flamingo mall. This eatery is small located within a hotel parking lot, but don't let a small stand doubt itself to you. You will notice this place by their sign outside near the edge of the street reading "Tacun" on an A-frame. Additionally, you'll see a tent set up in the parking lot connected to a building which is their kitchen area. Tables and chairs with table cloths are also outside. Upon arriving, a waiter greeted with a welcome and smile and asked we have a seat. The waiter took the time to explain the menu to us, the type of foods the eatery constructs and brought out some chips and salsa platter which included three different salsas. The waiter did a great job in taking the time of explaining the types of salsas within the platter so there were no surprises. The platter also included cilantro, onion and limes. The platter looked appealing due to its professional presentation, the plate itself used and the fresh tasting product. I eat salsa regularly as a Hispanic male and Californian, but boy--the salsa was hot. The salsa made me sweat. Any salsa in my opinion that makes me sweat though--has done its duty. The salsas were a guacamole/green salsa which was mild, hot green salsa and a red pepper grilled salsa. If you want real tasting salsa with your food--come here. One order was a de pastor burrito which was cut in halves includes rice, beans, cheese and sour cream inside the burrito. Along with pieces of cut avocado slices and lettuce on the sides. The de pastor meat was tender and the tortilla was tasty too. The meat was even hot as i took my first bite so you know it was freshly made. Another order placed was a green sauce enchilada with chicken inside, lettuce and Mexican white cheese. The enchilada was tender with seasoned chicken. Both entrees were well presented. For those two entrees and two beverages, the total was $28 dollars. This is about average in pricing to American dollars. Entrees are as low as $7 in American dollar or possibly lower. They even create Pina coladas or margaritas for you, if desired. In the end, I walked away with a great experience, full and enjoyed the ambiance of the place. The customer service was excellent, prices were fair and the salsa and chips were also tasty. I might add that the Pina colada was tasty with a refreshed natural taste. I recommend this place for an enjoyable experience. Note that cash only is accepted Mexican pesos or American dollars. This is a great eatery to visit within the hotel zone. Upon departing, the waiter advised this place is open for breakfast. They open at 7am serving many of the regular breakfast foods and Mexican dishes available. The waiter welcomed me back and said, come back and you'll have another great experience, we will here to assist you--with a smile. read more

While in Cancun, I was desperately craving Al Pastor Tacos...but had promised my man that we wouldn't leave the All-Inclusive resort. Something about a 'relaxing vacation' without any crazy adventures...this time around ;-). But...I managed to convince him to come here, since it was a 5 minute walk from our resort and had some pretty fantastic reviews. As we were pursuing the menu they brought out chips and a selection of some pretty amazing salsas ranging from medium to hot. I, obviously, ordered the Al Pastor Tacos and my boyfriend, per his usual, ordered the chicken. They were fantastic. I'm a fiend for al pastor tacos and damn these were pretty good! Pretty sure my boyfriend enjoyed his chicken tacos given how quickly he inhaled them. Overall an awesome little find in the hotel zone without having to venture very far from the resort! read more

4.5* Despite staying at an all-inclusive near by, my spidey sense drew me out to this hut style restaurant a 5 min walk away. Good enough to do it up twice, we enjoyed the al pastor tacos and guacamole both times. The chips and salsa was good with a habanero option that is nearing auto incineration. I'm not sure what it is exactly that makes the guac in Mexico better than home, maybe it's the humidity or the vacation mentality or maybe the mariachis that come with the guac; whatever it is, it really is quite delightful. read more

I got the 3 tacos of pastor (spiced pork. AMAZING. I can eat like 10 of these I'm one sitting), and the 3 tacos of beef (equally delicious. Both meats are chopped up in tiny pieces that aren't too small or too big for the tacos and the beef came with 3 or 4 pieces of grilled green onion WHICH WERE SO SWEET SO GOOD).
