we're going to Tad's." i ordered a turkey club sandwich with avocado and white American cheese on sourdough. i opted out of the third slice of bread which is in the middle of most Tad's sandwiches. for sides i ordered the red skin...

potato salad and coleslaw. i am now one of the most satisfied customers of Tad's Deli. the sandwich was beautifully made; a lot of love and care went into making that sandwich. the ingredients were so fresh, so flavorful. it was a triumph. the sides left me speechless. the potato salad was perfect and well seasoned. the coleslaw wasn't overly dressed, it wasn't soggy and you could enjoy it. i washed it down with a diet Dr. Pepper because it's beach season, i'm no fool. 5 out of 5 Bradleys

I had the cold turkey sandwich and husband had egg salad, both were fabulous. The menu is full of options, both hot and cold. Plenty of seating if you want to stay and eat. We will be back!!

Anyway I had the New Yorker she went with the Rubin. I also ordered the French Onion soup. So overall we were really impressed with the place and look forward to returning. New Yorker great taste coleslaw fresh and made in house....

she prefers grilled sandwiches, and I think they toast the bread and then steam them here, but they both were still very good. She had a Red Velvet cookie to go which she enjoyed. The place was really clean and staff went out of there way to be helpful. Only down side was the soup I have had much, but I would try another. So again we really look forward to making a trip here again before the summer crowds take over. One of the better sandwich shops in the area.

Husband ordered the New Yorker and I the Turkey Club. Both sandwiches were very good. Would definitely stop here again when in the area.

Tad's has been on the "try it" list for quite some time. I've heard rave reviews from locals and friends about it so when we needed a lunch to take with us kayaking yesterday around Rudee inlet, this was the day! Super friendly and easygoing staff inside. Lots of delicious sandwiches and wraps on the menu and you can make something of your own. I saw a ton of their sandwiches I'd love to come back and try. We chose to get the VB which was turkey, cheese, tomato and lettuce with bacon an house sauce (mayo, mustard, garlic, etc.) and it was SOoooo good! Loved it. Tasted great after a couple hours of kayaking. They make it fresh to order but do have some pastas and other things to take to go as well as delicious cookies (choc chip and red velvet) to throw in a bag. Or you can eat inside in the charming little dining area off to the right of the register. Plenty of sides to supplement as well as a bunch of flavors of chips - like 8-9 chips.

Was told by a co-worker to check this place out... Decided to all go check it out was so good they decided to join us and check it out lol We all had different sandwiches(refer to pictures) and we all throughly enjoyed them all definitely will be back for round 2. The only complaint we had was the Au-ju was a bit on the bland side other than that perfection. 4/5 4/5

So, so good. Super fresh meat, bread is soft and service is friendly and fast. I had the cold turkey sandwich and husband had egg salad, both were fabulous. The menu is full of options, both hot and cold. Plenty of seating if you want to stay and eat. We will be back!!

Stopped by on a Friday in April 2023, kinda busy and folks behind the counter seemed a bit overwhelmed. Slow, but whatever I have converted to "beach time" so stay cool! Ordered the "Combo" and the lady behind the Counter says what kind? I didn't say, "the only one on the menu" since that would have been rude. So I read the menu back to her and what is included on the sandwich. Also ordered the Walnut, Cranberry and Feta Garden Salad with Grilled Chicken Fajita Strips. Tad's was out of a couple of the dressing options? Salad was okay, but the chicken did not impress as something they whipped up in-house. Still like Tad's but not a Five-Star Visit either service or food wise!

This is my go-to spot heading to or leaving the water. Sandwiches are one of my favorite beach foods. You can visit Tad's in in your swimsuit + cover up and not feel out of place ordering at the counter. They have a small lot with 6 dedicated parking spaces which is convenient. They have a large menu so there is something for everyone whether you're wanting a hot or cold sandwich. My go to is the Italian, but every time I look at their massive menu I tell myself that I'll branch out "next time." Solid, consistent, sandwiches. For COVID times they do have their dining room open limited capacity. They also have a small patio area. I have been getting it to go though. Staff were wearing masks and gloves.

I found this place when I was out at Dam Neck for training and I was craving a deli sandwich. I tried a few of their sandwiches, my favorite has to be the 10th street wrap with a few substitutions. Cucumber instead of avocado, house dressing instead of honey mustard really elevates this wrap IMO. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu though. The staff is what sets this place apart. I'm only able to make it down every couple of weeks, but the ladies who work behind the counter remember my order every single time. That's the kind of service I had growing up in a small town, having that same experience here is like a little slice of home. This is my favorite spot to grab a bite to eat, I highly recommend making the trip down no matter where you're at.

Great food and friendly staff. I had the Turkey Club and it was excellent. Great flavorful bacon. Daughter had the Southwest Dip and wife had a Greek salad, both of which got two big thumbs up. Best part was the friendliness of the staff. They were great! read more

5 stars all the way ! To the customer service , 5 stars to the food ! 5 stars to the way the wrapped and packaged the food ! 5 stars all the way. My husband and walked in and were greated immediately, we waited 5 minutes for our food , which was 2 Italian hoagies . Really phenomenal local deli right off of the oceanfront. Everything is very customizable as you'd expect from a good deli, and everything tastes great. We had 6 people plus two babies - praise from everyone for the meatloaf, tuna salad, Cuban, and dip sandwiches. Combo adds chips or a cold side plus a drink and cookie for a few extra dollars, which is absolutely worth it. A bit cramped inside (only four 4-tops plus one 6-top) in what feels like a wide hallway, so if you're a big group, do takeout instead. We managed to put together three tables on the patio, but if they'd been busier or if it had been colder, that wouldn't have worked. Only downside - no fresh drinks of any sort (no fountain, no fresh tea, etc) - it's all bottles in a case, none of which are unsweet tea, if that's your preference. read more

Awesome, awesome place from takeout to sitting outside in the sun or inside in the comfy booths...& the ladies that work the counter are just wonderful with darling personalities and dazzling smiles! The food is beyond homemade good!! Unfortunately for others it puts some of our "better-known" delis to shame; not just with quality, but quantity and prices to boot. Oh and I forgot to mention the ice cold beer and the unusual selection they have that also put some pubs to actually be lacking such character... Five stars all the way!! read more

Great lunch place! Sandwiches are awesome. Service was great. Place was clean. Good amount of seating and there is a small parking lot which is helpful. No fountain beverages and no french fries or anything. Chips and canned / bottles beverages. I got "the dip" which came out perfect. Great bread. read more

When you are tired of seafood and just want a good sandwich... We chose Tad's based on good yelp reviews. It did not disappoint. They have a large menu and their own parking lot. I got a Gobbler, which is turkey, cream cheese, and cranberries on the best white bread ever. He got a Reuben which was hot and melty and made him very happy. We got bottled drinks and a bag of the addictive "Dirty" chips. They had a row of booths off to the side, surf decor, and a TV. It seemed like it would be a nice place to hang out. They waited till we ate to have us pay, which was weird, but kind of made us feel more welcome, and they brought the meal to our table. Yay for Tad's! keep up the good work. read more

My family and are visiting Virginia Beach for Spring break and we wanted something off the touristy strip, Tad's was definitely a great choice! We are from Buffalo NY and this place was similar to a NY deli. Great atmosphere, very friendly service and BIG sandwiches made fresh! I got the 10th street sandwich and I had to take 1/2 back with me to hotel. Sandwiches run between $8-$10. Great sides too! Worth the trip. read more

If you are in VB this should be a lunch stop for you. Ohh this place definitely gets 5 starts....vale, quality, and timely.....I forgot the food was amazing. Totally a deli style restaurant with both food service and carry out deli items! All the locals eat here and in a tourist town you know that means this is where you want to be for value and flavor. The server was absolutely friendly handled the pressure of the busy lunch crowd with ease and served us all in less then 10 minutes.....but don't call this place fast food ;) read more

SUPER good sandwiches! Loved the Italian and the turkey and roast beef sandwich. Hot peppers were unique and delicious. Their special sauce was a great add. Awesome sandwich spot! You gotta stop in here if you like deli style lunch places and are at VA Beach! Tad's Deli is a cool sandwich joint with a local beach house atmosphere. They have comfortable booths and other seating inside, and then a nice patio outside - everything was very clean. The ladies behind the counter were cute, friendly, and helpful and all our food came out super fast. I had the smokehouse combo and it was incredible. The house-sauce, the marble rye, and the combination of roast beef and turkey tasted great. One of the best sandwiches I've had. I was in VA Beach for the weekend and after I had Tad's Deli for the first time on Friday, I got it Saturday AND Sunday! Don't miss out on this experience! read more

I've been craving a good deli sandwich since I moved to the area a year and a half ago. Finally found it. Doesn't look like much from the outside, just a little hole in the wall deli, but once you walk in you can just tell it's going to be a good meal. I had the Southwestern Dip, the meat was juicy, the yellow sauce was on point, the pepper jack blended perfectly, and the au jus was wonderful. Every bite was full of flavor. I can't wait to go back and try something new. Great food, super friendly staff, comfortable feel... definitely a must try for anyone in the area. read more

Really great spot for lunch! The Dip and the Italian were both delicious. The prices were really fair, and the service was very good. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, though there isn't too many tables for either, but even though it was 3 pm or so on a Saturday they weren't too busy and had plenty of open tables. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm sure we'll swing back by for lunch again when we're out that way. read more

I love this place. My favorite sandwich is the New Yorker. Great portions. Delicious pickles and consistently tasty. Only minus on this place is if they have too many customers they are very slow and don't do your order correctly, so be sure to check it! But the food is great. read more

The service is terrible. I am currently here and have been waiting for 45 minutes for my sandwich. The waitress brought me a sandwich at 30 minutes, but it was the wrong one. This place isn't even busy, there are maybe 4 other people, all of whom are also waiting. Thinking about going back there and making my own sandwich... This sandwich better be out of this world. ... It wasn't worth the wait. read more

Established in 1993.

Tad's Deli got its roots from The Smokehouse Deli where Tad was the Manager and ran the Deli for nearly 10 years before taking it over in September 2003 and changing the name to Tad's Deli. Last January 2013 Tad took over the former Beach Smokehouse and has combined both Business into Tad's Deli and Smokehouse. Keith Gore the orginal owner of the Beach Smokehouse has helped tremendously training Tad to the in's and out's of running a commerical Smokehouse.

One piece of advice: arrive a little before Happy Hour begins at 3:00 p.m. If you wait until then, you'll likely find yourself several people deep in line. Don't let that discourage you. Embrace it, because once you're seated you'll quickly discover that the wait was well worth it. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices--especially during Happy Hour--are outstanding. The Atlantic specializes in oysters, and their Happy Hour runs daily from 3:00-6:00 p.m., including weekends. We began with a Chopped Caesar Salad ($9). Every ingredient was crisp, fresh, and flavorful--a simple dish executed exactly as it should be. Next came the oysters: a dozen Rockefeller and a dozen Pacific. The Rockefeller oysters were everything you would expect from this classic preparation--rich, savory, and baked beautifully. The Pacific oysters, however, completely stole the show. Each oyster was topped with a delicious combination of chorizo sausage, pepper jack cheese, and seasonings before being baked to perfection. They were bold, flavorful, and easily my favorite item of the afternoon. I also ordered the Double Stack Cheeseburger ($7), and what a terrific value. The burger arrived piping hot, loaded with melted cheese, and accompanied by a generous serving of crispy fries. It's hard to imagine finding a better burger at that price anywhere along the Oceanfront. My wife ordered the pork, shrimp, and kimchi dumplings served with a chili crunch and ponzu sauce that tied the entire dish together beautifully. She jokingly threatened to drink the remaining sauce after finishing the dumplings (she didn't), but she did convince me to dip one of my fries into it. She was absolutely right--it was fantastic. In fact, I now regret turning down the dumpling she generously offered me. Part of the fun of dining here is watching Shuck-Master Slim work. He's not only remarkably skilled but entertaining as well, adding a little personality to an already enjoyable experience. From the fresh seafood to the outstanding value and friendly atmosphere, this was another memorable visit to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. If you haven't been to The Atlantic on Pacific, I highly recommend adding it to your list. You'll be glad you did, and you can rest assured that you're helping support one of our outstanding local restaurants.

Since they were out of the malasadas, I decided to order the banana latte instead. I'd give it about a 7/10. For context, I'm always searching for a great banana latte because I love flavored coffee. One thing that frustrates me is when coffee shops advertise flavors like cookie butter, lemon pound cake, or red velvet, but the drink just ends up tasting like sweet coffee with no real trace of the advertised flavor. I was pleasantly surprised because this latte actually tasted like banana. It wasn't the best banana latte I've ever had that title still belongs to one I had in Las Vegas but it was definitely one of the better ones I've tried. The only reason it wasn't rated higher is because I noticed a sugary base flavor that overpowered the coffee a little for me. I personally prefer flavored lattes where I mainly taste the coffee cut with milk and the featured flavor heavily, not just sweetness. That's purely my preference. The fact that I finished the entire drink says a lot. I've had plenty of flavored coffees that I couldn't even finish because I disliked them so much. This wasn't one of those. I enjoyed it, and I definitely didn't regret ordering it. Now...the real star of the visit was the lumpia. It was AMAZING. Crispy, flavorful, and easily some of the best lumpia I've had. I actually tried another lumpia spot recently, and while it was decent, Ohana & Co.'s lumpia completely won me over. It's honestly the reason I'll be back. I have an eye appointment in the area next week, and I'm already planning another stop. I'll definitely be ordering the lumpia again, and this time I'm hoping they have the banana malasadas because that's what I originally came for. I also want to try one of their platters. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend giving Ohana & Co. a try. The customer service was wonderful, the café was clean, the banana latte was one of the better ones I've had, and the lumpia alone is worth the drive.

When I'm in Virginia Beach I make a point of coming thru this spot for a quick and tasty meal. It's such a cool vibe with delicious sandwiches & salads...and you can even grab a beer. But what separates them from everyone else is the talent, yep I'm calling them talent, that works there. A year after my first visit the ladies behind the counter remembered exactly what I ordered.
