Let me make it clear that I have eaten at Taggarts many times but this experience sadly has put that to an end. A few friends and I tubed the weber river and decided to go to Taggarts afterwards for dinner. Well, we showed up 30 minutes before closing (which we didn't realize) and obviously we felt bad about so we chose not to eat there for the sake of the employees that probably wanted to go home. But beforehand while walking up to the podium to put our name on the list I heard the host mumbling under his breath about the amount of people in our party which was rude in itself cause I could hear him clearly. Our friend needed to use the restroom very badly as she had held it for a few hours due to being on the river and we politely asked if we could use their restroom as we decided to not eat there because it was so close to the closing time. They responded rudely by saying "No, paying customers only". The facts are: 1- once we found out they were closing soon, we chose not to eat there. (We're not those type of people!) 2- it's completely unnecessary to comment about the amount of customers that you're going to host with your co workers as the customer can clearly hear you 3- And this one is for the host. Look dude, don't be a dick especially to a woman. Get over yourself! You could of easily let her go to the bathroom and it wouldn't of been a big deal! 4- because of this, we won't be coming back. That is unfortunate considering it was a party of 6 and an average meal here costs between $$ 12-18 which means that the restaurant lost the opportunity of making between $72-108 every time we ate there! Not to mention the tip. 5- as stated at the beginning, this is not the first time I've eaten at Taggarts. In fact, I've eaten there a dozen or more times and we drive nearly and hour for it but because of this experience I will not recommend taggarts to any family or friends like I had in the past. 6- I understand we came close to closing time, we didn't know! And we decided not to eat there for the sake of the employees wanting to go home. Totally understandable! But don't be assholes about it. 7- that is all. read more

I have enjoyed Taggarts for years but my last experience was so substandard that we left the restaurant without eating. We arrived for lunch on a beautiful Thursday afternoon after the lunch rush and expected our normal Exceptional Service and Food. We were seated in the atrium area and sat for a good 15 minutes before we were approached by a server. Recognizing that lately everyone is hurting for help we took it in stride. We finally ordered and had to ask twice for our drinks then after waiting for well over 40 minutes (no exaggeration) our lunch came. My Bleu cheese burger was so cold the cheese was congealed and the patty was stiff. The fries had been sitting for so long they were rubber. My friend took a spoonful of her soup (taggerts famous chicken and rice) and it was seriously straight from the fridge. We stopped our darling server and told her our woes and she seemed stressed and almost to tears. I felt bad and told her not to worry about another burger just heat my friends soup and I would like a cup of soup in lieu of my burger. She quickly returned with both and I could see that my friends soup had been heated so I was happy and hopeful until I tasted my soup and it was stone cold. At that point enough was enough!! No one came to our table to inquire of our experience and the server stated thst she would only charge us for our drinks. Stunned we agreed to pay for them and purchased the famous carrot cake on the way out. In the past we have always been willing to drive the 50 minutes it takes to get to taggerts but I'm not so sure it will make our dinner list anymore. I posted a photo of the old rhetro cookie (the one that isn't cut) and the one we got this last Sunday. It didn't even seem like the same cookie. It used to have bits of toffee and caramel with the chocolate chips, but it seemed to be missing that same consistency and chew from the caramel and the crunch from the toffee. What happened!? Great food. Horrible service. Our server disappeared after taking our order and we never saw her again. Our food came quickly and was delivered by a different server. Like I said, the food was fabulous. We then had to ask a different server for our check. It took 10 minutes for them to find her and another 10 minutes to get our card back. We waited at the front desk to buy some pastries as we left and then gave up as the servers coming and going ignored us. Even though the food is good, I don't think I'll go back. Came here with my boyfriend and his family while visiting on vacation. We came just before close on NYE and the staff welcomed us and didn't make us feel rushed (even though we did rush to try and help them close early). The food was amazing, especially the jalapeño appetizer with apricot jelly. They have a nice assortment of food so everyone can get what they want. And let's not forget about dessert! While driving through the canyon, my tummy started to growl. I've passed Taggart's more than a dozen times but never stopped, until tonight. The cozy canyon location and warm ambiance of the log structure proved to be a good idea! As the rain drizzled down the enclosed patio windows, little flickers of light bounced off the dainty little rain drops. It was a perfect night. Our server Chris was attentive and seemed to know just what we were craving. While the prime rib and french dip (the best I've had!) were divine, I am most excited for the cheesecakes we are bringing home. Wowster! Arrived there around 4pm after tubing it was already packed. We were a group of 10 and we had to wait for 1 hour but end up we waited for 30 mins. Food was delish. This place is alright. Potential for sure. Started out great with good drinks and a couple of appetizers. After a while our server disappeared and we were dying of thirst. 20 minutes later she came back and said she had a large party to take care of, well what about our small party? Or every other table she had? Quite ridiculous. The food was mediocre at best. The pita bread is the bread for every sandwich and while this is a good idea it doesn't belong. Fish and chips are Cisco and not homemade which is disappointing for a restaurant like this that isn't a chain. I personally wouldn't come back. We visited Taggart's on our way home from a fall drive. We thought the food was solid, but the desserts were amazing! Of course we were too full after eating our meal to eat dessert but couldn't resist taking some cheesecake home. If I could possibly give more than 5 stars to a review, I would give them to this restaurant. I was blown away by the food, the ambience, and the experience. We have friends who drive well over an hour eat here. Taggarts has its own exit off of I-84, just outside of Morgan. When you get off the exit, the road takes you to a log cabin beside a large gravel parking lot. The parking lot was totally full and we were there at 4pm on a Saturday. Upon entering the door, you see two display cases full of desserts: cheesecakes, brownies, cakes, cookies, and more. Our party of 5 had about a 10 minute wait to be seated. We used every moment of the wait to decide which desserts we were going to order after our meal. We sat on the back patio and I was shocked to see a waterfall, a pond with Lilly pads, and peacocks roaming a green lawn beside the pond. What a perfect combination! The patio was covered, and the edge of the roof was lined with hanging flower baskets. There were tables beyond the roof, but there were huge umbrellas set up to protect from the sun. This restaurant bakes all their own breads, so my flatbread pizza was to die for. It was topped with creamy pesto sauce, mozzarella cheese, tomato, onion, mushrooms, zucchini, bell pepper, and parmesan. It was about a foot across but I only managed to eat ¾ of it. My wife ordered a French dip. It was essentially a Philly cheesesteak served in a flatbread wrap instead of a bun. The dip was flavorful and not overly salty. There were beer battered French fries on the side and they were absolutely addicting. Another in our party ordered a blue cheese burger and it was served piled high with sprouts and tomato. Two more in our party ordered chicken enchiladas. The enchilada sauce ended up being Monterey Jack cheese fondue! What a beautiful concept!!! For dessert we had German chocolate cheesecake and the turtle cheesecake. Both were amazing. Our waiter made the restaurant feel like a 5-star establishment. So did the food. There was a perfect breeze on the back patio that kept it cool despite it being over 80 outside. Peacocks provided constant entertainment. The sound of the waterfall was super soothing. The food always seems good, but this experience was awkward... We came 30min from home for my wife's birthday dinner on a beautiful evening with hopes to be seated outside on the patio. Little did we know that when dining with children the establishment will not allow you to be seated outside even with very few patrons. Said it was because of "rattlesnakes, and ambiance". So if you'd like to sit outdoors for a family event don't bother coming to this place... I would like to say that the food and service is usually really good here and I would come again. I'm not sure why this place has a ton of positive reviews... I found the place to be decent, but far from 4-5 stars. The food was good, not great, but good. The burgers were okay (far from the best in the state as someone wrote in a review), the salads were good but the dressings lacked flavor and were below average. The fish and chips were bla and so was the service (and it took five minutes for her to show up and another five minutes just to get our drinks). I will say that they bread, buns & pita bread that they had were amazing and I will stop and grab a few when driving between here and Wyoming... but that doesn't happen very often if at all so I doubt I will be back. The service did make su feel rushed the entire time, but the establishment itself was very nice, but nothing to write home about. read more

We have been eating here for 17 years and it has always been one of our favorites! We have taken family, friends, and business acquaintances there to eat. We have never walked out thinking that was a bad experience. I would guess we have been there a hundred + times and hope to hit another hundred + times!! The staff is awesome and the food is too. If it weren't for Yelp I wouldn't have known this place existed at all, and I am so glad that I found it. We will be stopping here on our drive home from Utah from now on! You turn a corner expecting to find some hole in the wall and instead there is a gorgeous building set into the mountain side. In the back you will find a little pond full of koi fish and a waterfall, there are also some peacocks roaming around to keep the rattle snakes at bay. I got the grilled cheese which is served on a house-made pita and it was awesome! Yummy! The french fries were crispy in the best way, just perfectly crispy. How have I missed this place?? I mean seriously, a little place, barely visible from the freeway, 10 miles from anywhere. And the best food for several counties! Being a Friday night, we had about a 40 minute wait. They cruelly make you sit across from the dessert counter and stare at the most delicious cheesecakes, carrot cakes, and other goodies. By the way they were flying out in to go boxes I knew that 1.) this was going to be a big meal and 2.) I better pre-order the coffee cheesecake before my piece gets eaten by someone less deserving. We started with the chips and homemade salsa. Chips were a solid "meh" but the salsa was fantastic and made up for it. Just the right balance of garlic, spice, and heat. The soup, oooohhh the fantastic soup. Creamy chicken with artichoke and this honestly would have been a satisfactory dinner with the homemade bread they serve it with. Divine. We both ordered the sirloin. One medium and one medium rare. Both cooked perfectly and dressed with mushrooms and a bit of hollandaise sauce. Served with sautéed squash and the best scalloped potatoes you've experienced. At a $27 price tag the value is great for the perfection of the steak matched with the great sides. I had never heard of this little gem until a friend wanted to go there for their birthday and I'm so glad I was able to tag along. We started out with the Jalapeño Popper. Not necessarily the traditional poppers, these had a sliver of red pepper inside along with the Jalapeño cream cheese stuffing stuff. Combine it with the Jalapeño jelly that comes along with it, delectable. I have actually never had a popper and for my first one, I'd try a traditional one. I got the bacon burger with onion rings. The bacon was perfectly cooked for me (asked for it to crispy). The flavors of the burger made my mouth very happy! And then adding the onion rings on the order was a perfect meal. And of course you cannot forget the desserts. We got a few to many to try. We got the pink sugar cookie, carrot cake, poppy seed lemon cheese cake, and the Mama (I believe is the name). My favorite of the four was the carrot cake. It was nice a moist and they did great on the spices. Second favorite was the sugar cookie. The staff was great and very friendly. One of our favorites! It's a beautiful hour drive from Salt Lake. Take the scenic route east up I-80 and down I-84, it's a wonderful drive any time of the year. We haven't had a bad meal there yet. The diversity of dishes and spontaneity of flavors is always fun. Eat outside if you can. This place was recommended to me by a friend. My stepmom got the French dip sandwich and it was pretty amazing but the salmon as well as the burger patty was a little dry. The au gratin potato made a great side and I got a spinach artichoke soup (not photographed) that was my favorite. They had a large selection of house-made salad dressings and desserts. This place is kind of a hole in the wall. We stopped for an early dinner. Masks were required from the entry to the table. We had fish and chips, garlic blue burger, and some desserts. Quality was good, fresh ingredients, and service was nice. A little slow going but nothing terrible. We had a nice relaxing visit. Bathrooms were clean. Tables and other areas of restaurant were also clean. The desserts all look fantastic! And the ones we got were delicious (cherry cheesecake and moms chocolate cake). Call thirty minutes in advance and place a 'call ahead.' I came here for my anniversary, and we called ahead and were seated right away, that was nice since it was super busy. I'm new to the area and everyone I talk to loves this place so my husband and I gave it a try. He ordered the pepperoni pizza which was really great. The cheese blend they use is amazing.
