I tried Tah Deeg upon recommendation from a Persian friend who told me it was the only Persian place that he liked in town. And goodness, what an incredible recommendation it was. The food here is delicious. I have eaten here several times now and the food is consistently cooked perfectly. Everything is so fresh. The salads are crisp and the grilled meats just pop with flavor. They serve hot fresh bread cooked to order, not those cold pitas I get everywhere else. I enjoy quality tea, and theirs is very fragrant. I usually share the platter for two with my wife, and it is plenty of food. Always leftovers afterwards. The space is quiet and clean. It is a great place to have a quiet conversation and relax. The owner and servers are very friendly and helpful. The price is on the higher side. But if it is within your budget, I would highly recommend eating here. read more

Took my kids here to try a place we haven't tried. The staff was very friendly. The owner, chef and server were all very welcoming and nice. All checked to make sure the food was enjoyable. Pretty good food here! Located in the Sierra Vista mall next to the theater, this restaurant offers a good selection of classic Persian dishes. Spoke with the owner on the phone for his food recommendations and he was very friendly and took the time to explain what each of the dishes were, much appreciated! We ended up ordering the Kashk o Badenjan which is an eggplant based dip with bread, the chicken kebab plate, and the pomegranate chicken stew. I personally wasn't a huge fan of the Kashk o Badenjan but my mom seemed to really like it. The chicken kebab plate was really tough and dry but still pretty good nonetheless. But what really saved the meal was the Tahdeeg (crispy saffron rice) and the pomegranate chicken stew. The rice is heavenly aromatic and very crispy and tasty. The chicken stew had really tender chicken that slid off the bone and a sweet and sour tang that paired perfectly with the Tahdeeg. Overall good meal! read more

Came on in mid week, mid afternoon and was the only one there. Wow, I was floored by the attention to detail and wonderful and friendly owner. Food was fantastic, started with a tomato and cucumber salad served with warm fresh homemade pita bread, a lovely hot black tea. My entrée was delicious beef/kabob served with a side salad and a basmati steamed rice with a crunchy rice cake on top (don't know what it was called) that added a nice contrast to the rice. Lots of flavor and tender meat. Great presentation, service, food quality and a lovely upscale atmosphere. The atmosphere/decor was nice, but what really stood out: 1) The service was so friendly... (I think her name was) Esmeralda ranks in like the top nicest servers ever. 2) The food was SO fresh and SO high quality, it tasted like it was straight from some Persian grandma's kitchen. Least commercialized/americanized place I've had so far. So exotic and flavorful. - I had the the Chicken leg stewed in this mouthwatering sweet & tart pomegranate sauce... I've never had anything like that before and I've been dreaming about it since. - My gf got this ghormeh sabzi and it was the best I've had. Much better sour/savory balance than the one or two other places I've tried. - The Tahdig rice was so fragrant and delicious and perfectly crispy. - The table near us got some kind of kebabs with giant chunks of meat so big that my girlfriend and I couldn't help but stare and salivate for a second. I am never disappointed here. I love all the grilled meats. All tasty. Tahdeeg, the rice, is always a delicious flavor. I have even tried the fAva bean and pomegranate rice. So good! I will definitely be back! Even with my gluten intolerance I was able to eat some of the bread without a reaction. As to ordering it was not hard at all to meet my dietary restrictions. I've never had Persian food before, and this place was SO GOOD. Co-owner Fred was incredibly sweet and friendly, and the staff was also delightful and helpful. I had the hummus appetizer and the Koobeedeh kabaab - WOW! The flatbread served with the hummus was amazing, great texture and that yummy fresh yeast smell. The hummus was super creamy and smooth; I couldn't stop eating it. The koobeedeh kabaab was mixed beef and lamb and it was delicious, really well seasoned and beautiful on the plate. Persian rice is the bomb, I've never had anything like it. I ordered the Fessenjoon to go, which is a sweet & sour pomegranate and walnut stew, with chicken. Kind of reminded me of eating cranberry sauce with turkey at Thanksgiving, and I was super into it. Everything was even good reheated the next day, I had my leftovers for breakfast lol. My husband loves Persian food and we drove an hour just to eat here. Happy to say that it did not disappoint. It's located in the Sierra mall. It has a beautiful entrance with a water fountain and flowers with outdoor seating. The owner brought out a huge menu and we ordered the beef skewer kebab platter and sweet-and-sour lamb chops with flava bean tahdeeg & Barberry tahdeeg, plain tahdeeg, shiraz & Persian ice cream. The rice had so much flavor! Butter & the light saffron flavor. My lamb chops were meaty & flavorful not spicy. Our two-year-old loved the cucumber tomato salad. The kebabs transported my husband his childhood. The ice cream was so delicious that we had to order another round. I wish we could've taken a pint home. Super good and well worth the drive. But oh my gosh, everything we've ever ordered has been absolutely delicious. And the rice... Oh my gosh that rice! It has that insanely delicious, crusty top, and everything is so flavorful. Food made me change my star rating. Food is amazing, but wait is ridiculous! Came in at 3:45pm for kabobs. Ordered right away. Got Naan after 15 minute wait. One waitress taking care of 5 tables, 3 cooks, 45 minute patient wait. A man comes in and sits. He orders, I ask how much longer wait and tell waitress it has been 45 minutes and please ask cook. She avoids answering after asking. Man who sat tells them cancel his order because he can't wait as long as we have. Immediately he gets his food. It has now been an hour and 15 minutes. I ask for food again and waitress apologizes. I tell her it is not her fault, and ask manager. He said they are going to be ready in 10 minutes. All I know is this food better taste great! Excellent food and service! We were on our way to Yosemite and took an 11 mile detour to try this place for lunch. At first I was skeptical- is it really that great of a place for me to drive 11 miles out of the way? The short answer: ABSOLUTELY! We have plenty of good Persian/Middle Eastern restaurants near where we live and we're picky eaters so it takes a lot to impress us. We had the hummus - best hummus we've had and had to order seconds. The bread that accompanies it is freshly baked and so pillowy soft. We also ordered the Tahdeeg Rice with Ground Meat, a lunch special of something similar (one skewer instead of two), and the Fresh Herb Stew with braised beef. The skewers were juicy and bursting with flavor; the braised beef super tender. The service was attentive and we really liked the music selection! I usually never pay attention to the music playing in the background, but it was a great mix of 80s and 90s music. Bottom line: the next time we go to Yosemite, we'll be back. read more

Fabulous!!! I wish we discovered Tah Deeg sooner. All 3 of us absolutely loved our entrees. The Kabobs (lamb sish, chicken, and lamb/ground beef) were all juicy, flavorful and cooked to perfection.
